Extremely disappointing experience
We spent several hours at Big Motoring World’s Camberley branch looking at a Volvo that we were genuinely interested in purchasing.
While there, we found an identical vehicle advertised elsewhere at a lower price, which we believed clearly met the criteria of Big Motoring World’s own Big Price Promise. We went through all the details with the manager at the branch, who agreed that it appeared to meet the criteria and sent everything through to Head Office for approval.
That was last Friday.
Since then, I have spoken to no fewer than 12 different members of staff. I have repeatedly been told that someone would come back to me, both by the branch and by Head Office. Despite numerous promises, nobody has actually followed up with a meaningful response.
At this point, the issue isn’t even whether they ultimately agree to honour the price promise. It’s the appalling communication and complete lack of follow-through. We were serious buyers, had spent hours at the dealership, and were given every indication that our query was being escalated and would be dealt with.
Instead, I have had to repeatedly chase different members of staff, explain the situation again and again, and now appear to be being completely ignored.
For a company of this size, this is simply not acceptable. If you make a commitment to come back to a customer, actually come back to them.
Sadly, what started as a genuine intention to buy a car from Big Motoring World has turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. I would strongly recommend making sure you are happy with the level of customer service before committing to buying from them.

Really easy to use and find a car that fit my requirements. Was able to test drive a few cars and was happy with the service received. There was a really long wait for each part of the service though from the sales to finance to collections, it felt we were left around waiting for a long time. Despite this still really happy with the car and will definitely recommend

Wasn't impressed with the place. All I could see was Audi's, BMW, and other big cars.
The staff weren't attentive or helpful. We bought a car but had to wait over an hour to pick it up the next day as the staff kept us waiting.
Wouldn't go there again.

We went to the big motoring world to buy a Audi q4 Etron , test drove the car and we were happy with it but the sales man told us it had 360 cameras and park assist, we picked the car up the next day and couldn’t find the 360 cameras on the car when we got home , then when I opened the bonnet it had blanks instead of front parking sensors so all the things we were told it didn’t have, we went back and was told somebody would be in touch, 3 weeks later we got an email saying nothing we can do so it cost another £350 for the front sensors to be fitted, so don’t believe a word the sales men come out with down there, if we had known it didn’t have these we would of walked away but when you are told it has you believe them. Maybe your salesperson needs to have more training and know the facts about the car they are selling

Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. Dealing with this place has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish.
I did all the chasing, drove all the way from Liverpool to Leeds, signed the finance papers, and was literally about to take the keys when they turned me away because the electric fuel flap was broken. They promised to fix it, but when I came back two days later for a 12pm collection, I was kept waiting until almost 3pm. I had a flight to catch, so I had to rush off without a proper handover.
When I got home, the real problems started:
* The PHEV came with no 3-pin home charger cable, so I had to shell out £134 of my own money just to charge the car at home.
* A day after getting it back, the GPS and nav made a loud "pop" sound and completely died.
* The dash is constantly flashing up with "SOS Return to Workshop" errors.
* The fuel flap still doesn't work properly.
Their response to the software breaking? "We don't deal with software."
They were fast enough to push the finance contract in front of me, but now I’m being completely ghosted. No one replies to emails, no one picks up the phone, and promises of a goodwill gesture for wasting my time and work hours have just vanished.
They still manage to spam my inbox with sales emails every day, but can't be bothered to fix a defective car they sold me. Absolute zero care for their customers once you've signed. Avoid

Extremely disappointing experience — vehicle not as advertised or properly inspected
I purchased a 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport from Big Motoring World on 8 August, expecting the level of service and preparation you would reasonably expect from a large national motor dealer.
Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
I paid a transfer fee to have the vehicle moved from Warrington to West Malling. I was then told that the vehicle had arrived and was being prepared for my 9:00am collection appointment. In reality, the vehicle had not been properly checked, cleaned or prepared when it arrived.
The vehicle had also suffered considerable damage during the transfer process. What concerns me most is that this damage had apparently not even been picked up by Big Motoring World before I arrived to collect the vehicle. Had the vehicle actually been inspected properly on arrival, this should surely have been identified and dealt with before a customer was invited to collect it.
The vehicle was dirty inside and out, with make-up marks, rubbish, tissues, footmarks and general dirt throughout the vehicle. There was also rear paint damage which had not been disclosed in the advertisement. I was offered just £200 towards a repair which I was told would cost around £250.
Even more concerning was discovering a large amount of water inside one of the rear light units, apparently caused by a failed/broken seal. I have photographs clearly showing the excessive amount of water inside the light. I have asked Big Motoring World whether they genuinely consider this an acceptable condition for a vehicle to be sold from their forecourt.
I also discovered that the infotainment system was still linked to the previous owner.
Another issue I have with the experience is the way the vehicle was represented online. The photographs used in the advertisement appear to have been heavily digitally enhanced, to the point where the vehicle looks almost like a computer-generated image or something from a computer game. The presentation online gave a completely different impression from the vehicle I actually arrived to collect.
I appreciate that vehicles can occasionally sustain damage during transportation. What I find unacceptable is that the vehicle appears not to have been properly inspected when it arrived, meaning these issues were still present when I turned up as the paying customer to collect it.
I subsequently raised a formal complaint. Unfortunately, I felt that the first complaint response simply palmed me off rather than properly addressing the substance of what had happened. I had raised several specific and serious concerns, yet the response did not give me the reassurance I would expect that the matter had genuinely been investigated.
I have now had to spend considerable time pursuing issues that should have been identified and resolved by the dealership before the vehicle was handed over to me.
This isn’t about expecting a used car to be absolutely perfect. It is about expecting a vehicle to be properly inspected, prepared and accurately represented before a customer pays for it and travels to collect it.
My advice to anyone buying from Big Motoring World would be simple: do not rely solely on the photographs or assurances that the vehicle has been prepared. Inspect the vehicle extremely carefully before accepting it and check for damage, cleanliness, water ingress and anything that may not have been disclosed online.
I am still awaiting a satisfactory resolution to my complaint. At this stage, the whole experience has been extremely frustrating and has fallen a long way short of what I expected from a major national motor dealer.

Amazing Experience at Big Motoring World
I recently had an amazing experience buying my car from Big Motoring World, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the whole process.
From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well looked after. The entire experience was smooth, professional, and stress-free, which made such a big difference when making such an important purchase.
I would especially like to thank my sales consultant, Eze, for his outstanding service. Eze was incredibly polite, friendly, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. He took the time to listen to what I was looking for and made sure I understood everything clearly without ever making me feel pressured.
What really stood out to me was Eze’s knowledge and professionalism. He clearly knows his cars and was able to answer all of my questions confidently and honestly. Whenever I needed clarification or advice, he was more than happy to help, and his approach made me feel that I was in safe hands.
Buying a car can sometimes be stressful, but Eze made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. His excellent customer service, positive attitude, and genuine willingness to help really made him stand out.
I’m absolutely delighted with my new car and very grateful to Eze and the team at Big Motoring World for making the whole experience such a positive one.
I would highly recommend Big Motoring World to anyone looking to buy a car, and I would especially recommend asking for Eze. He is a credit to the company and deserves recognition for the fantastic service he provides.
Thank you, Eze, for making my car-buying experience such a great one! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

⚠️ My experience with Big Motoring World – please read before buying.
I’m sharing this because I genuinely wish I’d seen more honest reviews before I purchased my car from Big Motoring World.
I Worked & Saved Hard to Buy Myself a car and paid Over £27000, expecting that buying from a large, established dealer would give me some reassurance and protection.
Unfortunately, my experience has been completely different.
Only shortly after purchasing the vehicle, it developed serious juddering issues. I contacted the dealership and my RAC warranty, followed the required process and arranged diagnostics. The RAC garage has told me it’s not Safe to drive However, I’ve now found myself stuck between the dealership, warranty provider and garages, with nobody taking responsibility for getting the underlying issue properly diagnosed and resolved.
The warranty garage has explained that the vehicle would need to be stripped down to investigate further and that this is not an issue they specialise in. The mechanic Disclosed that he is 90% certain it’s my Rear Differential Which also has a Leak, But without Stripping & commitment to the work this isn’t possible. I was advised that a specialist, such as Audi, may be required — yet I’m being told this isn’t covered.
So I’m left with a car that I don’t consider roadworthy, without a vehicle to get to work, while being expected to pay even more money for diagnostics just to establish what is actually wrong.
What has been most disappointing is the lack of urgency and communication when I’ve already spent £27660 with this company.
I didn’t buy a cheap car and I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for what I believe is reasonable: a safe, reliable vehicle and a dealership that takes responsibility when something goes wrong shortly after purchase.
I’m now escalating the matter and pursuing the appropriate complaints and consumer routes.
I’m sharing my experience to make other potential buyers aware. Please do your research, understand exactly what protection you have, and don’t assume that buying from a large dealership automatically means you’ll be looked after when things go wrong.
I sincerely hope Big Motoring World now steps up and resolves this properly. 🚗
Avoid.

Found decent vehicle online through their website - Mini Countryman, arranged test drive. Arrived to do the test, unfortunately a longer wait than one would expect so wasn't off to a good start. Had a trade in vehicle to be appraised - shocking value, took it elsewhere and received double, that same day, so wasn’t like we even attempted to sell privately or haggle, just wanted to get the new car and move things along ASAP. Response was very poor as to why the discrepancy from salesman. We were cash buyers and he pushed hard to have a look at finance, so as 'to just give us an opportunity' pitch. Low and behold the crazy finance option with the added 'hidden' add-ons of polish, leather treatment, tire repair etc etc, low value individually, but exorbitant over the term. The pitch of the finance was clearly an attempt to ‘hide' the add-ons within the finance, as cash buyers the relative cost would be obvious. Non functioning side mirror button that wasn’t working, we were told part would be ordered and installed in around 2 weeks was closer to 5 weeks. All in all, a poor experience leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the customer - with all the motor dealerships around you think this would be a slick and upfront pitch. Will definitely not be back

I had first visit and met with the salesman (young guy). He is passive. Nothing to tell about the car. I have requested to do test drive for 3 cars but he told why I need to do those cars which are the same model. That's the main reason I didn't make decision on that day.
2 weeks later, I came back again but I told the reception to another salesman. I have different experience this time and I had test drive for few cars and I am happy to make decision for my next car.

🚨 DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM BIG MOTORING WORLD – PLEASE BE CAREFUL 🚨
I genuinely cannot warn people strongly enough about my experience with Big Motoring World Leeds.
This has without question been the worst customer experience I have ever been through.
What should have been an exciting purchase of an Audi A3 has turned into weeks of faults, warning lights, inspections, emails, phone calls, being passed from pillar to post and constantly feeling like I am being fobbed off.
Problems started before I had even collected the car. A crack appeared on the front bumper which was NOT there when I viewed the vehicle. I initially refused to collect it and only proceeded after this was addressed.
Unfortunately, that was just the beginning.
Within days of taking the vehicle I was experiencing numerous issues, including:
- Tyres subsequently reported as approximately 5 years old, cracked and excessively deteriorated, with replacement recommended.
- Squealing brakes, which I was subsequently advised required greasing/lubricating.
- MMI/infotainment screen repeatedly rebooting.
- Phone calls disconnecting/dropping.
- MyAudi/connected-services problems.
- Emergency warning lights appearing on the dashboard.
- Multiple dashboard warnings telling me to return the vehicle to a workshop.
- Further faults continuing to appear.
This was a car I had literally JUST PURCHASED.
I have also repeatedly requested a copy of the 200-point inspection report for MY vehicle.
I HAVE STILL NOT BEEN PROVIDED WITH IT.
What makes this experience even more frustrating is that I have repeatedly been told by Big Motoring World to take the vehicle elsewhere because they apparently do not have the facilities/diagnostics to investigate these issues themselves.
I have been directed to Halfords, Kwik Fit and Audi.
So that is EXACTLY what I did.
I have spent my own time taking the vehicle to third parties, obtaining inspections/advice and gathering evidence relating to the problems with the vehicle.
I then sent that evidence back to Big Motoring World.
AND I STILL GOT NOWHERE.
How much more is a customer expected to do?
I purchased the vehicle from Big Motoring World. I followed the instructions I was given. I obtained the evidence requested. I supplied that evidence. I repeatedly tried to give them the opportunity to resolve the problems.
I even attended Big Motoring World in person and was told that the vehicle had been passed across for rejection.
Yet I have still been left chasing the situation.
For absolute clarity:
I DID NOT WANT TO REJECT THIS CAR.
I liked the Audi and wanted to keep it. I simply wanted the faults properly diagnosed and resolved.
Unfortunately, after the number of problems that appeared almost immediately after purchase and my experience trying to get Big Motoring World to deal with them, I felt I had been left with no reasonable alternative but to reject the vehicle.
The customer service throughout this process has, in my experience, been awful. I have repeatedly felt fobbed off rather than supported as a customer who had only just purchased a vehicle.
I have photographs, independent inspection findings, dashboard warnings, emails and a detailed timeline supporting what I have said. The matter has now been escalated to my finance provider, Black Horse, and I have also sought advice from Citizens Advice regarding my consumer rights.
This isn't a review about one minor fault appearing months after buying a used car.
THE PROBLEMS STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE.
I will update this review with the eventual outcome because I believe potential customers deserve to know how situations like mine are ultimately dealt with.
Based entirely on my own experience, my advice at the moment is simple:
🚨 DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM BIG MOTORING WORLD. 🚨
If you are considering buying from them, PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
Do your research. Read reviews. Check the vehicle thoroughly. Check the tyres. Consider an independent inspection. Keep every photograph, email and report. And if you're told the vehicle has undergone a comprehensive inspection, ask to see the actual inspection report.
I sincerely wish I had known what I was going to go through before purchasing this car.
An absolute shambles of an experience from start to finish.
Tony Aubrey

My experience with big motoring world from the day of purchase has been least to say the worse customer service I have ever received. I have never Experienced such incompetence from so many different members of staff and some are supposed to be senior staff. In a nut shell I purchased my vehicle 28th December within two weeks my engine management light came on this was reported straight away, it took big motoring world 8 weeks to even get my car booked into a garage. After my car being seen by two different garages whom refused to complete any work due to the amount of work and cost a third garage took on the work. My car then sat in the garage for 6 weeks waiting for big motoring world to approve the work. Which I was not provided with any sort of replacement car. Once the repairs had been approved they said they would only approve half the work that needed doing. Today the 11th of August I picked up my car from the garage with still remaining faults which I now have to wait for the warranty to approve. So eight months since reporting my fault and still all the repairs haven’t been carried out. In eight months I have never received a single call back from anyone and single email with any updates. Every conversation I have had has been because I have rang up. The decree you are called the after sales team is an absolute joke because you have no after sales care at all. Worse company I have ever dealt with and will never use ever again and will certainly make it known to a lot of other people to avoid at all cost.

By far the worst car buying experience I’ve had. I was lied too, I was mis sold the warranty and point blank told it didn’t happen by a member of the management team.
A member of their staff told me I’d only need to pay the 12 month warranty for the first 12 months and then after that, I’d no longer need to pay this and my monthly payments would reduce.
A year went by and the payments haven’t dropped so I spoke to a member of the management team (after having to drive all the way back to the dealership as no one would call me back) and was told he’d need to “investigate” the matter. When I asked how he was going to investigate it, he told me he was going to “just ask” the said member of staff and if he denies it, then that would be the end of it.
I’m now having to pay a charge for the next 4 years of my agreement, that I was lied too about and there’s no been any effort to help the situation whatsoever, despite being told I would receive a call back with the outcome yet I’ve still not been called months later.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. attentive to all your questions and helped me pick out the car that i wanted. very smooth process to purchase the car and walked me through every option that i had in the process.

Buying a car from them was very well organised, however I would warn others NOT to opt into the extended warranty. The ‘simple’ app to report your issues doesn’t work and I have been waiting for 10 days for an acknowledgment/ response. I have called numerous times, only to be told that my issue had not been allocated yet. I’m in the process of making an official complaint but I would avoid buying a car with this company who once they have your money - do not care. Aftercare is NON EXISTENT
