Do not under any circumstances use this…

Do not under any circumstances use this awful company.
My son had saved up his hard earned cash to buy the car of his dreams so he found this one at Big Motoring World in Sheffield 85 miles away, but he was excited to book a viewing and travel to see it.
When we got there we were met with a sales man who did not make us feel valued as a customer at all.
He seemed to just read off a script the things he was supposed to say.
When we were shown the car, it wasn't even cleaned!!!
It had scuff marks on the alloys, on the body and a huge scrape under the front bumper.
We asked if these could be rectified as he was looking to spend over £24,000 on this car. They wouldn't do anything to the car.
Reluctantly he purchased the car as they are rare, they wouldn't give an inch with the price for the damage.
He asked if the car could at least be washed before he purchased it.
It was taken to be washed, when we finally had the keys and were walked to the car, we noticed the alloy had been chemically burned during the wash. This damage was not there before.
After 5 hours of pulling teeth, we were livid.
We asked them to reimburse him the price to get the wheel refurbished at home. They wouldn't give an inch again. They offered to give him a full refund and walk away carless or bring it back to have them do the wheel, 190 mile round trip!!
We fought for a solution and in the end they called the manager over who very reluctantly after a lot of cross words offered him £100 as a good will gesture.
We felt so undervalued and walked away so deflated and extremely irritated.
Never again would I set foot in that place.
A week later we were back in Sheffield to view a car for my partner at CarGurus, WOW, what a difference. They made us feel very valued as customers and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
We walked away from there with huge smiles on our faces with a lovely new car.

Hi Melita,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointing your son’s purchase experience was, particularly given the distance you travelled and the importance of the car to him after saving hard for his purchase.

We’re disappointed to hear that the vehicle was not presented in the condition you expected, and we understand your frustration regarding the cosmetic damage you identified. We’re also sorry to hear about the issue with the alloy following the wash and the difficulty you experienced in reaching a resolution. Having to spend around five hours trying to resolve these concerns is clearly not the experience we want for any customer.

We appreciate that our offer of a goodwill payment ultimately did not leave you feeling that your concerns had been properly addressed. We’ll ensure your feedback is shared with the Sheffield team, including your comments about the sales experience, vehicle preparation and the way the subsequent issue was handled.

We’re pleased that your son was ultimately able to take home the car he had set his heart on, although we’re sorry that the process of doing so left you feeling undervalued and frustrated.

We also appreciate your positive comments about the member of our team you dealt with, and we’ll make sure this feedback is passed on appropriately. Thank you again for bringing your experience to our attention.

Very disappointing experience with the extended warranty sold by Big Motoring World.

When I purchased my Mercedes from Big Motoring World, I paid approximately £1,800 for a 3-year extended warranty.

At the point of sale, the warranty was presented to me as very comprehensive protection. My clear recollection is that I was told it provided effectively “bumper-to-bumper” cover and that if the failure of one component caused damage to associated components, those repairs would also be covered.

These assurances were an important reason why I agreed to spend £1,800 on the warranty.

Unfortunately, when I actually needed to make a claim, my experience was completely different.

My Mercedes developed an AdBlue system fault. The diagnostic report specifically states:

“Tested AdBlue injector and found it to be leaking.”

The report then identified crystallisation affecting other components following the AdBlue leak.

My warranty claim was declined because the policy apparently excludes crystallisation build-up and consequential damage.

However, the rejection did not explain why the leaking AdBlue injector itself was not covered.

This is particularly difficult for me to understand because my Inspect and Repair Plan states:

“All mechanical and electrical parts are included for failure to perform their normal function on the vehicle.”

I submitted a detailed formal complaint on 14 July 2026, specifically asking the warranty provider to identify the exact policy clause excluding the leaking AdBlue injector and to explain the technical basis for declining this part of the claim.

More than four weeks later, I still have no substantive written response.

I have contacted Customer Service several times. I was repeatedly told that my complaint had been passed to the Complaints Department. On 4 August, I was specifically told that I should receive a response within 3–5 days. That timeframe has also passed without a substantive response.

I have now formally contacted Big Motoring World directly, as they sold me this 3-year warranty and it was their staff who explained its benefits to me at the point of sale.

For £1,800, I expected not only meaningful warranty protection but also proper assistance when something actually went wrong.

Based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend purchasing the extended warranty offered with a vehicle from Big Motoring World.

I am giving Big Motoring World the opportunity to investigate this matter and assist in resolving it.

I will update this review publicly with the outcome — whether the matter is resolved or not.

Hi Maksym,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the extended warranty and appreciate how frustrating it must be to have a claim declined, particularly after purchasing the cover with the expectation that it would provide comprehensive protection.

We understand your concerns regarding the AdBlue injector and the distinction between the injector itself and the subsequent crystallisation/consequential damage. We also recognise that you are seeking a clear explanation of how the terms of the policy have been applied to your particular claim.

We are particularly sorry to hear about the length of time you have been waiting for a substantive response to your formal complaint, especially after being advised that you should receive a response within 3–5 days. We appreciate that having to repeatedly contact Customer Service for updates is frustrating and not the level of communication you should expect.

We have noted your concerns regarding the information provided at the point of sale and the expectations this created around the extent of the warranty cover. We will ensure the feedback is shared with the relevant teams so that the concerns you have raised can be reviewed appropriately.

We appreciate that you have given us the opportunity to investigate the matter and that you intend to update your review once you have received an outcome. We are sorry that your experience has not matched the expectations you had when purchasing the warranty and thank you again for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Allow longer than you expect.

From the outset, I need to explain, I really, really dislike buying a replacement car. Always have. The site in Peterborough is very smart and modern. Getting in is a bit of a challenge, walking through a high wire fenced tunnel! Ever person I had to speak to, I think it was 4, all very pleasant, and yes I did sign a deal.

Genuinely lovely experience

I was apprehensive about going to buy a car and the process that involves. Honestly, I neededn’t have been. Big Motoring World is a spacious, welcoming, bright place, we were welcomed with a smile, no sales pressure. We were allowed to look at 3 floors worth of cars, take our time, do it at our own pace. When I got a bit overwhelmed, free milkshakes were available to get my sugar levels up again:) Once we decided, we were paired with Brooke, a lovely sales advisor, who was patient, explained everything clearly, accompanied us on a test drive and simply told us about everything that was on offer without pushing us to choose anything we didn’t want to. From the moment we arrived till the moment we drove away in out lovely car, we felt relaxed. The processes and handovers between staff work seamlessly. Well done Big Motoring World:)

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE

This experience does not even warrant a 1-star review, but unfortunately that was the lowest rating available.

I have just had what I can only describe as one of the most disappointing car-buying experiences I have ever encountered. I paid £99 to reserve a Cupra Born, fully intending to purchase the vehicle and drive it away that same day.

Before travelling to the dealership, I specifically asked the sales team if they could kindly make sure the vehicle could be fully charged, as I had a long journey planned immediately afterwards. I was assured this would be possible.

Upon arrival, however, none of the staff appeared to have any knowledge of the reservation. After waiting around 10–15 minutes, a sales representative eventually located the vehicle and brought it around for us to inspect.

Unfortunately, the vehicle was in an extremely poor condition. It had clearly not been cleaned or prepared prior to our arrival, despite us having specifically arranged to view and potentially purchase it. We also discovered several scratches that had not been disclosed in the online listing.

We were then told that we would have to wait approximately 30 minutes to test drive the vehicle, despite having informed the sales representative three days earlier that we would like to test drive it. We were instead offered an “unofficial” test drive around a nearby car park to “save time”, which was far from the experience I expected when purchasing a vehicle from a professional dealership.

Despite all of this, we took some time to consider the situation and decided to proceed with the purchase due to the vehicle’s competitive price and low mileage.

After completing several minutes of paperwork, we reached the payment stage. We had planned to pay partly by credit card and partly in cash. At this point, we were informed that payment by credit card was not possible — despite me having specifically asked about this when reserving the vehicle three days earlier and being told that it would be accepted.

This was ultimately the final straw, and we decided not to proceed with the purchase.

What makes the experience even more frustrating is that we have now wasted the fuel and time travelling approximately 240 miles on a round trip, based entirely on the information and assurances provided to us by the sales team beforehand. Had we been given accurate information from the outset, this unnecessary journey could have been avoided.

Overall, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. At no point did we feel valued as customers; instead, we were left with the impression that we were simply another transaction.

For a company selling vehicles at this level, I expected a much more professional, organised and customer-focused experience.

I would not recommend this branch to anyone based on my experience.

Hi Liam,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your experience fell so far short of the standard you expected, particularly after travelling around 240 miles based on information and assurances provided by our sales team.

We appreciate how frustrating it must have been to arrive and find that the vehicle had not been prepared, especially when you had reserved it in advance and specifically requested that it be fully charged. The undisclosed scratches, the delay in arranging a proper test drive and the lack of awareness around your reservation are also not the experience we want customers to have.

We are particularly disappointed to hear that you were given incorrect information regarding credit card payment. We understand that this ultimately resulted in you deciding not to proceed with the purchase, after you had already invested significant time, fuel and effort in travelling to the branch.

Your comments regarding the communication and preparation of the vehicle will be shared with the relevant management team. We accept that simply apologising does not undo the inconvenience you experienced, but we do appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention so they can be addressed.

We are sorry that we left you feeling that you were treated as a transaction rather than as a valued customer. That is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and we understand why, based on what happened during your visit, you would not recommend the branch.

Bought a Mazda CX-5 from them

Bought a Mazda CX-5 from them. I had a minor issue, but was very easy to report and they reimbursed £100 for the diagnosis without any fuss.

Waiting time is something they’ve to improve on. I went for my viewing and test driving appointment and had to wait for about 2.5hours. The same repeated when I went to collect the car as well. It’s also difficult to get back to them through their customer care. They don’t accept credit card neither do they negotiate the price.

Overall, it was a positive experience

Abu was our Sales Associate, and from the moment we sat with him he was so kind, professional and knowledgeable. Try dealerships first

Visited the Norwich branch, chose a nice looking I4. Agreed the purchase subject to a small PX and two new tyres on the i4, as one was bold and a second was on the limit. Sales rep and the the manager said that the tyres had passed there inspection. He just kept repeating himself and wouldn’t look at the tyres himself. Clearly, there sales pitch of a full inspection pre sale is not worth the paper it’s written on. Their PX valuations is also an insult, repeated on other customer reviews. That said, I walked away and got a much better reception, value for money and professional service from Sytners BMW.

Hi Davey,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at our Norwich branch did not meet your expectations.

We appreciate your concerns regarding the condition of the tyres and understand your frustration that, despite raising the issue with the sales representative and manager, you did not feel that your concerns were properly addressed. We take vehicle safety and the checks carried out on our vehicles seriously, and we are disappointed that you were left with this impression.

We’re also sorry that you were unhappy with the part-exchange valuation provided. We understand that valuations can be an important part of the purchasing decision, and we regret that the figure offered did not represent good value in your view.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback and will ensure your comments are passed to the relevant team for review, particularly regarding the handling of vehicle condition concerns and the customer experience at the Norwich branch.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING FROM BIG…

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING FROM BIG MOTORING WORLD LEEDS

Get an independent inspection. Do not rely solely on their vehicle report or how good a car looks on the forecourt.

We travelled from London to Leeds to collect a car after being told the finance was approved and we could test drive, inspect and take it away that day if happy.

At our 3pm appointment, nobody seemed to know we were coming and we waited around 30 minutes. We were then told by our salesperson Suhail that the lender was “unreliable” and we needed to wait another 24 hours. We contacted the lender ourselves and were told there was no 24-hour requirement.

The biggest concern came when we inspected the car. My husband has previous experience as a mechanic and identified apparent previous accident damage to the bumper that was not disclosed on the vehicle report. There was also dirt, hair and cobwebs inside the car.

We genuinely feel lucky we spotted this before buying. The car looked fine on the surface, but closer inspection told a very different story. Get an independent inspection before buying anything from this dealership.

We were initially told the car could be delivered to London free of charge, but after my husband began inspecting the vehicle, that changed abruptly and we were then told we would have to pay an additional £280.

When we were understandably frustrated after travelling all the way to Leeds, another member of staff told us to “go for lunch and enjoy Leeds”. Completely inappropriate.

We walked away from the car and honestly, we are glad we did. We feel we dodged a bullet.

Harry, the finance person we initially dealt with, was genuinely kind and helpful. This review is not directed at him personally. Unfortunately, our overall experience at the Leeds branch was completely different.

Check the history. Get an independent inspection. Look beyond the paintwork. Don't let a big dealership name replace your own due diligence.

We are leaving this review so the next person can make an informed decision.

Hi Dina,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience at our Leeds branch, particularly given the distance you travelled and the time you had invested in arranging the appointment.

We take concerns regarding vehicle condition and the accuracy of information provided very seriously. We’re disappointed to hear that you identified issues during your own inspection that you felt were not reflected in the vehicle report, and we understand why this would have affected your confidence in proceeding with the purchase. Your comments will be passed to the relevant team so the vehicle and the circumstances surrounding its presentation can be reviewed.

We’re also sorry that there was confusion around your appointment, the finance process and delivery arrangements. We appreciate how frustrating it must have been to receive differing information after travelling from London. The comment about going for lunch was also not appropriate in the circumstances, and we apologise for the impression this gave.

We’re pleased to hear that Harry was helpful and supportive during your initial dealings with us, and we’ll ensure that positive feedback is shared with him.

Ultimately, we respect your decision not to proceed with the vehicle. Customer confidence is extremely important to us, and we’re sorry that your experience at Leeds fell short of the standard we expect. Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we are very sorry to hear about the difficult few months you have been through following your sister’s stroke and the loss of your brother. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.

We are also sorry that, after choosing to return to us based on your previous positive experience, you were disappointed with the condition of the key supplied with your vehicle. We appreciate how concerning it must be to receive a key that is being held together with Sellotape and to feel that it could fail at any time.

Update on previous reviews,

After managing to source a courtesy car again we left 4 messages with the employee handling our case requesting what day the vehicle needed to be returned, 3pm the day of we recieved a phone call that she was making a payment to the garage at 4pm so we needed to get the courtesy car back and pick up our car, nothing like last minute and again ignoring our previous calls and emails. We was then told if we have any further issues not to contact Big motoring world or big assist as because this is past 3 months warranty2000 will now be dealing with our issues, when we replied saying this doesnt make sense, we got the car in December 2025, reported first issies in Jan 2026 its now August and well past 3 months why is it all of a sudden being passed on, the reply we received was it does make sense. As you could imagine that was very helpful again great job on the customer service.

Is this what Big motoring world and Big assist do drag out customers cases and then palm them off somewhere else.

Anyways we managed to return the courtesy car at short notice and collect our vehicle on August 12th, the garage informed us that they are still waiting on Warranty2000 to approve the remaining repairs but they are usually good at replying withing 2 or 3 days.

Today is August 14th i just started my car up and yes you guessed it Engine light back on. We now have to drive the car back to the garage in Folkestone from Deal to see if the issue is the remaining faults or a new one(s).

Now we await to see if the car remains usable in this time until its next appointment for the remaining repairs or unusable and needs fixing before use.

Again this will leave us without a vehicle for the forseable, no courtesy car, and the inconveinance of getting from the garage back to Deal.

Update to come in a couple of days

In response to your last reply, you are very good at apologising in yoir response and saying you understand how frustrating things may be, you offered assistance in form of reviewing the courtesy car but no contact number or information to call to sort or arrange this. Surley there is a manager that would be able to authorise such things or that can be passed our case for them to contact us seeing as this has been ongoinh since Jan 2026 and all we are recieving is the same poor standards or customer after care, service and standards. But still nothing, you say the level of service we have recieved is unacceptable but nothing is happening in the way of change.

Poor all round from top to bottom no one cares whatso ever.

I cannot stress enough to steer clear from this company, no one deserves this level of neglect when you agree any fee for a vehicle let alone the price of ours.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for providing this further update. We are genuinely sorry that your experience has continued to be so frustrating, particularly given that you first raised concerns in January and are still dealing with issues now.

We fully appreciate why you are disappointed with the communication you have received, especially around the return of the courtesy vehicle, the handling of your case and the subsequent involvement of Warranty2000. Being given only a few hours' notice to return a courtesy vehicle is clearly not the level of communication we would expect, and we apologise for the inconvenience this caused.

We are also concerned to hear that the engine warning light has returned following the vehicle being collected on 12 August. We understand the practical difficulties this creates for you, including having to travel from Deal to Folkestone and the uncertainty around whether you will have access to a vehicle while further repairs are being arranged.

You are also right to challenge our previous response. Simply apologising and acknowledging your frustration is not enough if we do not provide you with a clear route to getting the matter resolved. We should have provided you with the appropriate contact details or ensured that your case was escalated to someone who could take ownership of your concerns.

We appreciate that you have heard apologies before and are understandably looking for action rather than further assurances. We are sorry that your experience has fallen so far short of the standard we aim to provide.

Kindest Regards,
Big Motoring World

Avoid…

This is the second bad review for this company. Do not use them. I had a negative experience so asked for all my details to be removed from their database. But I was inundated with calls and text messages. Please do not be foolish like me. I booked a test drive on a particular vehicle. Arrived at the agreed time to find vehicle was in another part of the country and they tried to sell me another vehicle.

Hi Jacquie,

We are truly sorry to hear about your negative experience and the frustration this has caused. It's concerning to learn that you were inundated with calls and messages after requesting your details be removed.

We also sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment regarding the test drive and the vehicle not being available as expected. This is certainly not the experience we want for our customers. Your feedback is important and will be shared with the relevant teams for internal review.

Kindest Regards,
