Studying with Arden University as a distance learning student was a positive and rewarding experience for me as a working mother of three. My experience with Arden University (Tower Hill campus) was disappointing.
I received a Foundation Certificate from Arden University, but one of my marks was later questioned and removed. This was confusing and never clearly explained.
The viva process was stressful and did not feel supportive for a foundation year student. Instead of guidance and learning, it felt punitive.
Communication was poor. Most of my emails were not answered, and I only received responses after contacting senior staff. Reception staff were unable to give clear information and directed me to email addresses that did not reply.
The university accepted tuition payments for a period when I did not receive teaching or access, as I was withdrawn before the next term started.
Because of this experience, I have lost trust in the university and would not recommend it to prospective students, especially those who expect clear communication and support.
I did follow the formal processes. This took nearly a year and caused significant stress, anxiety, and many sleepless nights, as I repeatedly chased responses by email and often received no reply.
People have lives and responsibilities beyond university, and it cannot be expected that this situation becomes the sole focus of someone’s life indefinitely.
I have now chosen to move on, but it is fair and reasonable for me to share my experience publicly. Everything I have written reflects what I genuinely experienced, and I stand by my words.
I am also aware that I am not the only person who has felt this way. Many students have had very unpleasant experiences but are unable to express themselves clearly due to language barriers. That does not mean their experiences do not exist or matter.
I am not asking the university to review my case here; I am simply sharing my experience so that prospective students can make an informed choice, especially as there are many universities in London and no one should feel obliged to accept poor communication or treatment.

Julie B (student hub advisor) is an absolute asset to the student support team and to Arden as a whole. I’ve recently had to apply for a break in learning due to personal circumstances and reached out to student support for some guidance. Julie has been absolutely incredible, answering any and all questions I had quickly, offering me helpful information, making sure I understood the process, and just generally being so kind and supportive.
When applying for an additional extension today for the same reasons, she has this actioned within 10 minutes. 10 minutes!!! On a Friday afternoon!!
As a distance learning student, this has made what could have a very stressful time absolutely easy and I’m very grateful. Big up Julie B !!!
