The worst rental experience I’ve ever had - Muppy should be ashamed.
We moved into a Muppy-managed apartment in Valencia in May, trusting their “professional” image and all the promises of a modern, hassle-free home. What we got was filth, dysfunction, and total neglect.
The apartment was disgusting when we arrived, trash on the floor, blood on the walls, and feces still in the toilet. It was clear no one had even bothered to clean. The air conditioning never worked, not once, through weeks of 40+ degree heat. A maintenance guy came once, said replacing it was “too expensive,” promised to bring a portable “penguin” AC unit, and then disappeared. They clearly waited for summer to end instead of fixing it.
The dishwasher leaked constantly, soaking the floor and stinking up the kitchen. When a shower failure flooded the business below, we lost access to the communal bathroom, and other tenants started using our private one, removing our privacy. It was actually the business downstairs, not Muppy, who sent someone to fix the problem.
And the cockroaches, seven in an hour was our record. I emailed Muppy multiple times, got no reply, and not one visit from pest control. They eventually offered a €100 “discount” (not a refund!) to cover a cleaning fee, even though we spent €200 cleaning their mess. Naturally, we never received that €100 either.
Months of emails, zero accountability. They ignored us completely while we paid full rent for unlivable conditions. Only once we finally moved out did we get our deposit back - but no compensation, no apology, no professionalism whatsoever.
If you’re thinking of renting with Muppy, don’t. You will regret it. They are unresponsive, dishonest, and completely indifferent to the people who live in their properties. I’ve rented all over Europe and never encountered a company this careless or disrespectful.
Muppy is a scam wrapped in branding, avoid them at all costs.
