I arranged for my funeral over the phone which was great a simple process few questions and job done i knew what I wanted so didn't have to involve advisor but if you're not sure probably better to arrange an appointment with an advisor

Kayleigh talked me through everything I could possibly think of. She was very patient and understanding.
I can’t praise her and the staff at South Shields enough.

Friendly and efficient service, all organised with minimum stress. Would certainly recommend the Cooperative funeral service

My mother passed away in Bracknell and was moved to Slough. I used this service as I wanted a small and discreet service. When organising, I was asked where I wanted the cremation and chose Bracknell as that was her home and where my dad was cremated. When I chased the co-op for when she would be ready for cremation, I was told she was ready at Woolwich, in east London. This was strange as I had never requested this. We eventually managed to get her back to Bracknell but no apologies, no explanations and I was charged more for picking the crematorium that I chose at the beginning. I asked for an explanation but was blanked. Terrible and emotional experience.
Co-op Funeralcare at Manford Way Chigwell were truly amazing when planning our dad’s funeral.
We dealt mostly with June, however Bev was wonderful too, caring, compassionate and empathetic, they said they felt like they knew my dad by all the stories we told them and the send off he had.
Nothing was too much trouble at all!
We were kept in the loop with everything.
Kacie and her amazing team on the day were wonderful too!
I can’t recommend them highly enough honestly.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I will never be using this company again. My father died in 2025 and we used this company to have our mothers headstone updated to include our late father information. Only to find when the headstone was reinstalled a year later that they had done nothing... despite being paid. They investigated the issue and confirmed they messed up but the reaction was woefully inadequate. Now we have a blank head stone and distraught family and for what? If you need funeral care, then I’d recommend going to a company that actually cares about it's customers.
Very simple process, easy web-form to complete, no hassles.

Our family used Co-op Funeralcare to look after a close family member who had sadly passed away. We chose Co-op because we believed that, as a large and established funeral services provider, they would provide the care, professionalism and attention to detail that a grieving family should be able to expect.
Sadly, our experience was extremely disappointing and caused our family additional distress at an already devastating time.
The deceased was placed into Co-op's care after a post-mortem, and we had specifically arranged and paid for embalming as part of the funeral and repatriation arrangements. However, the embalming was not carried out in a timely manner.
We were later informed that the body had deteriorated to the point where embalming was no longer possible.
The family had expected to be able to have a viewing and say a proper final goodbye. Instead, because of the deterioration, we were advised that only a closed-coffin viewing could take place. This was incredibly upsetting for the entire family. We had planned to see our loved one one final time, but that opportunity was lost.
What is particularly concerning is that Co-op's own correspondence and our subsequent complaint raised questions about why the deceased was not embalmed promptly after being received into their care, why an embalmer was not arranged, and what had actually been done during the period before the family was informed of the deterioration.
We formally complained and asked Co-op to investigate what had happened and to explain how their procedures had failed.
What made the situation even worse was the response from Co-op afterwards. Despite the serious failure in the service we had paid for and the enormous distress caused to our family, Co-op did not offer any compensation, refund or reduction in the funeral fees.
For our family, this was not simply a minor service failure. This was about the care of a loved one and our family's final opportunity to say goodbye. The emotional impact of being unable to have the viewing we had planned cannot be measured in money.
We trusted Co-op to take care of our loved one during one of the most difficult periods of our lives. Unfortunately, that trust was broken.
I would strongly advise other families NOT to use Co-op Funeralcare. If you are arranging a funeral or repatriation, please think very carefully about who you entrust with the care of your loved one. In our experience, Co-op failed to provide the level of care and responsibility we expected, and when things went wrong, we did not feel that they took adequate responsibility for the consequences.
Very poor experience. Very poor customer service. No compensation or fee reduction. Most importantly, our family lost the opportunity to say a proper final goodbye.
I would not use Co-op Funeralcare again and strongly recommend that others consider alternative funeral directors.
The process of buying the plan is straight forward. 20 days after buying my plan, I am still waiting for my documents to be delivered. Contacted them, very apologetic said they would send out another set and that I would also receive a digital copy within 24 hours. Neither has happened to date.
Online funeral plan purchase was very straightforward and costs of each plan option were clear. Full details of each plan along with cost breakdown were given.

There was a good choice of funeral plans and the person who arranged one for me was very considerate and helpful.

The Coop representative made me feel comfortable with what could have been an upsetting process. She talked me through the procedure and left me satisfied with the decision I made. I am reassured by the financial setup of the Coop funeral service, which leaves no room for a Ponzi situation into which less secure funeral companies could fall.

From the first moment I rang the bell at the Hoylake Co-Operative Funeralcare premises in Hoylake Wirral to appoint them to handle my late husband's cremation I felt comfortable and cared for. His wishes were respected and carried out professionally. I met Bernie and Diane over the last few weeks and found them kind and friendly. They willingly filled several small urns for me prior to returning the ashes to me to save me doing that task. I cannot praise them highly enough. Thank you.
