Sports Direct breaking UK Data Protection law

UK Data Protection law requires the seller to ask for your permission to send marketing information. I just tried to buy some shoes from the website. Sport Direct STILL hasn't changed its tick boxes and requires you to tick the box to stop unsolicited advertising. THIS IS NOW ILLEGAL.

A Business Not to be Trusted.

We ordered two pairs of Salomon shoes from Sports Direct Australia. These are a continental European brand and we know the correct size in EU sizing so ordered these. When they arrived we found that Sports Direct had relabeled the boxes with the incorrect EU sizing. Return postage was very expensive but Sports Direct refused to reimburse the postage cost saying that as the UK size on the box was correct somehow it was our fault. We spent nearly a year corresponding with them and repeatedly provided evidence that the error was made by them but to no avail. They have clearly demonstrated themselves to be a business without any obvious ethics or interest in customer service.

Gangsters

I foolishly used their online service at the start of August and ordered for store collection. I was advised this could take up to 7 working days. I contacted them 2 weeks later for an update and I was advised there was an issue with customs and there was nothing they could do. I obviously told them they have numerous Irish stores and it was for store collection and that they had broken their own advertised terms. Again I was told there was nothing they could do and they could not provide a delivery date. At this stage I requested a full refund. Unbelievably they said they had cancelled the order but it could take another 21 days to get my money back. Sports Direct have not adapted to Brexit and have no place in the Irish marketplace until they do. I am still waiting on my refund which is still totally unacceptable

BEWARE! BACK PACKS ONLY GUARANTEED FOR 6 MONTHS!

I bought a good quality back pack from Sports Direct and for the first time ever, the stitching has started to come apart.

So, I contacted customer service, expecting them to meet and exceed their customers expectation, only to find out they ONLY guarantee them for 6 months.
(If I have a filling in my tooth, it is guaranteed to 12 months and I use that EVERY DAY!

I was very very disappointed that their backpacks are only covered for 6 months.

They obviously do not have much faith in their products or manufacturing!

Poor customer service; take your money when items not in stock

I wish I had read the reviews before placing my order. Had confirmation email, and order was confirmed by the first customer services rep. Money was taken from my bank...All good...then less than 12 hours later I receive an email to say the items is not in stock. Still waiting for refund. Second customer service experience was extremely poor...Would NEVER order from Sports Direct again

Amended review

Amendment to my previous review, I have now received the rest of my order. However the whole process of how the orders are split is very confusing, I never got an update that my order would arrive separately then I spoke to 2 people who gave different advice. My next day delivery did not arrivw the next day....Very confusing just to order a few things online But! But at least I got my order.

Avoid like the plague

Well, after waiting for 7 days for my next day delivery from Sports Direct to arrive, daily (some days more than once) communications with their customer service for 6 days and an open case with trading standards, having served them notice of breach of contract and threatening with reporting them to the police for fraud, it looks like I am finally getting my money back. What I am not getting back is the weekend I was planning to spend swimming in the lake with my son wearing the wetsuits they never delivered. Awful service.

Mayflower Basildon Branch

I bought two pairs of trainers 2 weeks ago on 11/05/2021 from the Sports Direct store based at Mayflower retail park Basildon Essex. They were both a pair of 'Shaq' Trainers.

The first pair began to fall apart on the first day, I returned these the next day and was told I could only get store credit, I argued this point due to the selling of faulty goods and I was then provided a full refund for them. Alarm bells should have been sounding in my head at that point about the quality of this brand and the staff's poor knowledge about consumer law.

A week later after having worn the other trainers only 3 times for causal walking around I noticed the bottom of the right trainer was almost completely worn, the left side showed almost no signs of wear. This is quite obviously some sort of flaw with the trainer. I have never heard of a trainer sole becoming completely worn after 3 uses on one trainer only.

On 01/06/2021, being the first day off work since realising the fault with the trainers was the first time I could get back to the store I bought them from. When I got there, I spoke with two shop floor staff about the problem who both stated I needed to speak to a manager. When I requested to speak to the manager, they both stated that he didn't like being disturbed for complaints and initially refused to get him. After some querying this one of them eventually plucked up the courage to go and get the manager to come see me.

Eventually a man who said he was the manager came and saw me. I explained the issue and showed him the receipt. He replied stating the company does not refund for wear and tear. I pointed out this is clearly not a wear and tear issue, one it was only a week or so since the purchase, two they have only been worn 3 times for light walking around and three only one trainer has lost all its sole tread so unless he was suggesting that I hop around on one foot everywhere then this is clearly a design flaw with the trainer. The manager proceeded to ask me private information such as where I worked and where I had exactly walked with the trainers, which in itself was ridiculous. He then said, "they are basketball trainers, they aren't designed for walking around". This was probably the most stupid excuse I have ever heard in my life, so basically what he is suggesting is that a trainer that is designed for a high intensity sport can't be used for walking in? What exactly does he think basketball players do? Hover or fly perhaps so the trainers never touch the floor? He continued to refuse a refund. I even explained that I was happy to accept store credit or an exchange but he also refused that.

In the end, I was getting nowhere and stated I wanted to make a complaint and he gave me an email to email. When I asked for his name, he refused. I explained that I needed just a name or employee number so I could reference speaking to him in the complaint but he still refused to give me anything.

I have contacted my credit card company and they advised that I should document a request for a refund from the company first. I was also advised to remind Sports Direct of their obligations under the consumer rights law that:
If something is faulty then I can request a refund from the company within 30 days
Goods must be 'fit for purpose' AND 'last a reasonable length of time'
Goods must be 'satisfactory' and 'as described'
The customer does not have to contact a manufacturer direct regarding a faulty product, this should be taken up with the trader they bought the item from
In line with basic points from the consumer right law above I can confirm that I have requested a refund within 30 days for a faulty product. The trainers have not been fit for purpose and have NOT lasted a reasonable length of time. No one buys trainers expecting that they can only be worn 3 times. The goods have fallen well below a satisfactory level and I have contacted contacted Sports Direct as the seller of this product to me directly.

On 01/06/2021 I sent off a complaint to which the email was acknowledged. Over a month later now and Sports Direct are yet to contact me about this!

AWFUL COMPANY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Brought some products online over 2…

Brought some products online over 2 months ago and sent back a few things.

It’s been over 6 weeks since I returned them and still haven’t received a refund.

I emailed after a month and they said
I Needed to wait for it to be processed... emailed again this week and they said they hadn’t received my return so cannot issue a refund.

Checked the tracking number on the return and the item had been received from the company and signed for over 6 weeks ago Now sent over proof.

Clearly hadn’t checked to see if they’d actually received it when I’d emailed them on 2 seperate occasions after being very patient.

Never Shop at Sports Direct again…

Bought some sketchers golf shoes from them last September. Havnt played many rounds due to covid( less than 10) the heel band on the left shoe has broken and now cuts my heel. Contacted SD and they replied that manufacture faults normally show up in 3 months but I could get and independent company to check. I have asked what happens to the 12 month warranty but no reply. Will go back to sketchers to see what happens. Never shop at sports direct again. Rather pay more elsewhere.

LOWEST OF THE LOW FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Really disgusted with the poor customer service from this company. Wrong sized boots delivered in correct box and having paid for fast delivery they took 3 days to arrive. Had various replies but all useless, free return labels addressed to myself ? then 3 trips to the Hermes agent with 3 different return labels all not valid. Now sick and tired of the whole episode and this is obviously what they want.
No wonder Which magazine ranks this shower as the lowest of the low.

I am blacklisting this company for life, I suggest you do too. They don't respond. They still owe me money. // I got an immediate response here from sportsdirect showing they didn't even review my complaint info. They are paying someone to respond to make themselves look less bad. They have multiple profiles, one has polarised 1 and 5 star reviews which is an unnatural data set proving their attempts to manipulate this review system. They are evil.

Horrendous refund policy!

Bought walking boots costing £81, when they arrived they didn’t fit. No returns or delivery note inside the package so couldn’t send them back and didn’t even know how. Nearest store is over an hour drive away but took the trouble to drive all the way over, only to find they would not/REFUSED to give me a refund, despite no other sizes of the boot available in store to swap them with. They said it’s NOT THEIR POLICY TO REFUND ONLINE BOUGHT GOODS.... just to warn everyone. I had no returns note, which I pointed out, they said sorry but NO. I have a credit note for a store I will never buy from again!!!! Is this legally allowed?!
Had the 1 hour drive home, £30 lighter is diesel and no refund.. horrendous service!!

Staff a very poor reflection on the store

Staff lack knowledge and only tend to you when they have finished messing on their phones.
Staff chatting together and using foul language

I ended up leaving the store and going else where to buy cricket equipment.

Avoid at all costs!

The one and only time I have ever used this company and I won’t be back! Shocking customer service and the way I was spoken to by staff (including a so called manager) when attempting to return a faulty item was unacceptable. How this company is still in business is beyond me!
