Impossible to even set up online login
I have been trying to set up my online login using my home insurance policy number and personal details. First the website did not recognise my details at all. I tried a bunch of things and finally got through by entering my first name as "J" rather than "James". I then got to a screen saying "Your login details are set up, but you'll need to call us before you can use them". The phone number provided is 0345 607 2271. However, this number is for credit card and savings queries. It has nothing to do with setting up an online login for home insurance. I then called a separate number for home insurance but they just forwarded me to the irrelevant credit card/savings phone number.
Upon speaking to another customer support adviser, it now turns out that you are only eligible for an online account if you have an MBNA credit card or savings account. So essentially, in this day and age, my home insurance account is telephone only. And this does not seem to be communicated anywhere - leading to a whole lot of time wasted.
So bad it feels like a scam
So bad it feels like a scam. Can't access my policy, can't find my documents, can't cancel. But payments come out just fine.
*** AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE ***
I'm a full time wheelchair user and my toilet blocked, it does eventually clear after flushing but it takes a while, it will eventually completely block. After me calling them numerous times to chase the repair they gave me a date for someone to come which would be 72 hours after I reported it. Even when I explained I can only use my toilet due to my disability they wouldn't get anyone sooner. I certainly won't be renewing. *** AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE ***
Unbelievable
Unbelievable! I have an MBNA card for decades. 5 figure max. I decided a few years ago to pay it off. Last month statement showed a balance of $500+ which I paid in full. Online account two days later showed payment received , balance $0. Regular monthly statement just arrived and I owe them $0.38!!! Yes, 38 cents! A lesson in how to anger customers and get bad references. I paid that today. God knows what next month's statement will show.
Complete scam
Complete scam, hide short purchase window in their terms , meaning their 0% purchase cards are not actually 0%. Completely rotten scum.
Leaking shower refused to help as I…
Leaking shower refused to help as I could switch the she shower off. WHY AM I PAYING FOR THIS KIND OF RUBBISH!
Please do not buy there home insirance…
Please do not buy there home insirance ots not worth paper they take money dont deal with claims then haggle you mid claim and hike prices they will go to lengths to not proceed. Poor service or no service you might aswell not have insurance at all save your money. Disgusting and appalling.
Mbna need to look up customer service…
Mbna need to look up customer service in the dictionary, no help at all,was repeated told to stop talking over the lady on the service,Unless your 21 and can navigate an app for everything your treated like a child ..... don't bother
Worst credit card I ever had
Worst credit card I ever had. Customer service is very poor. The communication system takes forever. Their confirmation texting for transactions does not work and they ask for passport id to get the card working again. Their app is appalling too.
I cancelled the card.
Could try harder
I don't understand this. When I buy online, they say they will send me a code. They don't send the code. Then they say either I have blocked them or my provider has blocked them. Neither is the case. And clearly they don't know they've been blocked. They just don't check their end to see if the code has in fact been sent. I cannot fathom why. I can't say anyone has been impolite. They just haven't found anyone willing to get to the bottom of it. I suspect they are trying to force me to use their app, which I don't want to do, bcause it never works.
Do not use for home insurance
Absolutely atrocious company to deal with. Almost Impossible to speak to a human. Emails only accepted on 2 days a week, and then they say that they can take up to 5 business days to reply! Impossible if you need help in a hurry
Leak from toilet
Woke up to find we had a leak coming from the toilet. No problem we had taken out emergency home cover, so gave them a call. They said they could not cover this issue something to do with trace and access, what a load of rubbish. If this is not an emergency home issue, what is. They wanted to put me through to their buildings and contents team so I can make a claim. Why would I want to claim to fix a leak, there was no damage done, said I do not want to make a claim just get the issue resolved. Will NOT have home insurance with them again.
Happy to add late payment notifications…
Happy to add late payment notifications to your credit file then make up some lies about them not being able to remove it. Horrible company, avoid at all costs
AVOID! Premium prices for a budget service that doesn't pay out.
Do not waste your money with MBNA Home Insurance. Their premiums are extortionate for a service that effectively doesn't exist.
The online portal is a mess and impossible to navigate. You can't track your claim, and when you try to call, you’re stuck on hold for hours—if their phone lines are even working (which often they aren't).
To top it off, after years of paying them, they refused my claim. They are quick to take your money but useless when you need help. I’m cancelling immediately.
What a shower.
I have a one year fixed saver account with MBNA which matures next month. It’s a very small amount rainy day fund.
This is the second year that I have had this account.
I have recently changed my bank details, and as this account does not have online access I had to contact customer service by phone to update my details.
What an appalling experience.
MBNA really put me through it.
Security questions, one time PIN, credit checks, life history, unbelievable, I came off the phone exhausted & not sure if they have actioned my details change,
What a shower, will be glad when my term matures.
well lo
Well take a look at the reviews no real shock, just been to pay my partners bill for this month, hold tight the woman on the phone was so rude as if it was her money, trying to help your partner because she over spent... who hasnt lol, amount paid but still got talked to like a child, these people are total %$&*&^% never use mbna. complaint in and negatives will keep coming.
Joke of a process
I just want to set a direct debit up the process is ridiculous! You cannot do it through the app and cannot do it on the website using a mobile device!
Perhaps the answer is not to bother setting it up
Dreadful customer service for the…
Dreadful customer service for the second time.
USELESS
Tried to report a cloned card after my other bank cards where copied. MBNA lost/stolen card number kept me holding for 25 minutes until I had to go.
I will use this review as proof that I tried to warn them about card compromised but they were too useless to respond.
After 30 minutes, got through to a person who then said she would have to refer me to anther person. Then telephone announced that it would be another 25 minute wait.
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BANK WITH MBNA
I cancelled a credit card in 2024
I cancelled a credit card in 2024. On receipt of the offical cancellation letter I cut my card and deleted the app from my phone and laptop. 3 months later they sent me a letter about my account. I called and after much effort on my part explaining what had happened - multiple calls, repeating the same information they said it was cancelled and sent me a letter to confirm. Since then approximately every 3 months they contact me about my account. I then have to go through a ridiculous process to 'cancel'. Every time is treated as the first time, all the recordings and complaints are somehow erased and it's groundhog day all over again. At the start of every call to re cancel I have to start the story again, every time, great relucance to pass me to anyone who can help. Each time they call me back (it takes an average of 3 calls and some emails to resolve) we have to start again. They have no explanation for this, each time they have a new reason but seem unable to fix the problem. On the last ressurection they actually added the card to my bank account for the first time (linked organisations) then told me that this was perfectly normal and it did not mean the card was live - they corrected that on the follow up call. I don't know how to proceed, I have gone through all of their complaint proceedures yet I still have this issue.
