If I could give zeros stars I would. Ive used nice & easy for years and the recent changes in formula and ultra gloss condition is terrible. The quality of the condition has gone down so much and i... See more

Changed Formulation for the Worse
I have been using shade 81 Mahogany for the last 3 years and loved it's vibrant glossy colour. I have just used the re formulated product of the same number. IT IS NOT THE SAME COLOUR AND IVE BEEN LEFT WITH BLAND BORING BROWN HAIR WHICH FEELS ROUGH TEXTURED.
I HATE IT. WHY THE HELL HAVE YOU CHANGED IT INTO AN INFERIOR PRODUCT AND MISLED YOUR CUSTOMERS? WILL NOT BUY AGAIN AND WILL CHANGE TO A RIVAL BRAND.
I used Tone+Gloss shade 78- it did…
I used Tone+Gloss shade 78- it did ruined my hair. After applying this hair dye - my hair was sticky, messy, greys didn't get covered as good as with old product. Will not use it again ever. SHAME
New formula gives poor results
I am very disappointed in the changes that have been made to Nice n Easy semi permanent hair colour. Now 96 is no longer available and after reading all the very damning reviews I wondered what the results would be if I tried a similar but lighter colour. Not surprisingly, the results were far too dark, even though I left the product in 5 minutes less than the instructions. Now after very few washes my grey shows. This never happened with the original product. Time to look for a different brand. It seems the company are on a downward spiral putting profit before quality and therefore losing valued customers.
I have been using Clairo permanent hair…
I have been using Clairo permanent hair color on my roots for over 10 years with no problems. I had long hair that I received many compliments on. I used the new packaged Clairol 6AA and 7AA. The color was no longer Ash. When rinsing my hair, it always had a purpleish tint to the color. Now it was showing strong pink tones in the rinse water. But worst of all it fried my hair! It had the smell of a permanent wave solution. And the smell did not go away, no matter how many times I shampooed. And then my now frizzy hair began to break off. A total mess and so damaged no conditioner would help. The only solution was to cut it off. I now have shoulder length hair where I had mid back hair before. What has Clairol done to its formula!?
Disastrous new formula
I would like to know what Clairol propose doing about the new formulation. They had a perfectly good non-permanent product that worked very fast and lasted a really long time. Maybe that was the problem for them as they wanted to maximise profit. This new formula (dark brown) lightened my natural hair colour and washed out on the greys after one wash!
On a follow up.
On a follow up.. the hair dye 79/400 practically washed out after the first wash, I have embarrassing ginger hair, it look terrible, the horrible mess when dying could have been almost acceptable if the product had done its job but it is beyond terrible across the board for a hair 'dye' the old 79 was so good! Mine second box is going in the bin.
Worse dye I have ever used
I have used 79 semi permanent for years, bought the new one, just thought it was new packaging, this new one is awful, rinsed for a very long time but just seem not to rinse out, it left my hair sticky and dull not soft and silky like the old one, roots not covered as good as the old dye, will see how long it lasts,
I bought 2 for £10 and the other one will be going in the bin,
I will never use this new one again, such a shame they couldn't leave the old one as it was, they are going to lose alot of customers with this new formula,
Rubbish
I've used 79 28 wash for past 18 years used the new one today rubbish rubbish rubbish hasn't coloured my my grey at all the conditioner smells horrible and made my hair feel coated and not soft and silky like the old one couldn't get the brush though my hair so I had to rewash my hair and what dye I had in my hair washed out and
my hair feels like straw I'm so gutted I look after my hair and don't use permanent dye because of the damage it causes my hair now feels like I have used a permanent dye but without the colour don't use it's rubbish
Poor quality
This new formula for the no ammonia now called zero ammonia is really crap
It doesn't give full coverage and it washes out after 4 washes
Why would you change such a good hair dye
Why fix it if it's not broken
So disappointed with the new formula. No ammonia dark brown. I've used this color for yrs and never had a problem. I bought and used this two days ago, thinking it's just new packaging 🤦♀️ it's not covered my roots as usual. It's left a copper tinge to roots and left a chemical smell on my hair. I don't understand. Why fix something that wasn't broken. Hope I find a new substitute. 😡
It says permanent grey coverage
It says permanent grey coverage, I still got grey hair after dying it. it’s rubbish can’t believe I wasted my time using this product I know it’s £4.99 but I’m telling you it’s not even worth that.
First time it didn't work properly
Have used clairol nice and easy dark brown since I started going grey, never varied colour or brands always stuck to same 1, purchased 1 yesterday in savers. New packaging. When solution poured into main bottle it just sat like 2 layers, never seen it do that before, shook it for ages to try to make it mix, put on hair, very runny and suddy. When I washed it out as per instructions half of my roots still grey, never has this happened before. I shall chance another 1 to hopefully rectify it but judging by the comments I've just read here it's not an isolated issue and loads of customers having issues with new formula, very disappointing.
Should be a no star option
Should be a no star option. Have used Clairol Nice n Easy product for years but what has happened with the new formula?? My hair was covered in residue, smelt awful, could not dry it or style it so had to wash it twice again after!! Doesn't even last a week!!
Why did they change it?? So disappointed. Do not use it ladies
Have used medium ash brown for 20 years…
Have used medium ash brown for 20 years for my cool dark brien hair and it covered my greys perfectly every time. The new formula- well I'm more than disappointed and will NEVER buy this again! For starters just mixing the two products together was not easy! It took 10 minutes of shaking to combine. Then was horror struck once i coloured my hair- it had turned my grey root regrowth a horrid brassy deep Auburn! I am totally dismayed with this new formula- I mean " Ash brown " is nit supposed to be a brassy shade! The old formula wasn't brassy! So I had to use a spray on brown root colour to hide the mess my hsir was! What a waste of time and money-- poor show clairol. I would never recommend this product to anyone!
What on earth has happened to this new formula!!
I have been buying this product for many years and my hair has always felt clean, grey covered, soft and shiny after each use….BUT what the hell have you done with the new formula!?!?
Now the conditioner takes forever to rinse out, even when combing afterwards still have dye residue left on comb, hair feels dreadful, dry and like straw, so have to wash the next day and as for lasting 28 shampoos, what a joke, more like five!?
I had to wash my hair a few hours later on the same day as it all felt so awful, the smell was revolting, it was sticky too.It still was not right after a thorough shampoo but at least felt slightly better.
For goodness sake, why change the formula, bring back the previous one. Why change something that is successful. Someone in your lab must have been drunk when working this formula out!!
If I could give it a zero I would!
If I could give it a zero, I would! What the Hell has happened to the no amonia dye? It promises gloss! What it does give is barely any grey coverage, lots of drips, and the most sticky hair afterwards. I had to wash it several times to get the colour to stop running. AWFUL, and I used the old product for many years.
Whatever the company did to the Clairol…
Whatever the company did to the Clairol Natural Instincts hair dye ruined the product . I am using the last box I purchased , I usually buy 2 at a time . My sister and sister in law will also stop buying this product . You ruined the formula it doesn't cover grays anymore and lasts about 1 week . I've been using this dye for over 10 years and will not waste my money on another box .
Very Very poor dye - an expensive mistake!
Went to Superdrug to buy a hair dye to cover the “slightly lighter” parting line of my hair on the run up to Christmas. I have used nice and easy for many years to change colour etc and more recently to cover the lighter bits (grey). They had two different offers both offering two dyes for a combined price. I asked what the difference was and they said one of them was a new and improved formula which was much better so obviously I bought that pair. On my first wash it did absolutely nothing - I was wondering did I not leave it on long enough or not follow the instructions but I definitely did. So a week later I tried again - very disappointed! Basically did nothing on my lighter bit but made the long hair much darker (which emphasised the lighter parting line) So days before Christmas I had to message and ring round hairdressers to get someone who could fit me in to correct my hair - it really did look too bad to go out with. So at great expense I bought two dyes and had a visit to the hairdressers to have my hair stripped and re dyed (still not happy with it looking patching ) but what has happened to the product its totally not effective?
Do NOT use Clairol Nice n Easy hair dye…
I have used Clairol Nice n Easy hair dye regularly since lockdown and this is now my last time. The 'new formula' is awful and not to be recommended at all.
The consistency is far more liquid than previously; dripping and collecting at the base of skull - a very unpleasant feeling. Some drips of the solution came into contact with my skin around the hairline and caused a painful reaction. I never had a problem like this with the previous formula. The stench of ammonia was almost too much to bear and even with repeated washing of my hair the smell lingered. My hair normally looks good after it has been dyed but with this new formula it is a dry as straw. Washing it proved difficult with all the knots and tugs in my hair, again something that has never happened previously. It is not right for a company to play fast and loose with customers' hair care by using cheaper products. The cost of the 'new formula' incidentally has also risen from the cost of the original product. Clairol, you may be making a saving but its false economy given how many of your loyal consumers like me are going to your competitors for future hair dye products...
Very disappointed
I have just used clairol professional hair colour, I can honestly say it has not touched the greys, worst hair colour I have ever used. What a waste of time and money
