Booked a car from EuropCar Newcastle…
Booked a car from EuropCar Newcastle airport. Was advised on their website and at booking I'd need a credit card for £500 deposit. Got an email closer to the time saying £750. Arrived at EuropCar and went direct through them with the booking, deposit and cover for less than a third of what it would have cost with planet rentals. Still not sure what I actually paid £153.95 to them for in the end. Total scam. Book directly people, this website is convenient at a huge, sneakily hidden cost to the customer. Also their communication with the actual rental companies they are third party to, is non-existent.

Disappointing experience with Planet Rental Cars.
When I picked up the car, I clearly explained that my own vehicle had suffered a major breakdown and that it was expected to be returned to me on 3 March 2026. Because of this, I only booked the rental until 6 March, after the desk staff member said he would speak to his manager and that I might be able to get a refund if I returned the car early.
However, when I later asked about the refund, I was told that no refund was possible because the booking was prepaid and the insurance cost was fixed. This was not communicated clearly at the time of pickup, and it felt misleading to suggest a refund might be possible if it never actually was.
Overall, the communication at the counter was unclear and left me with the wrong expectations.

Just plain awful
Just plain awful. Booked online and arrived at Malta airport, inaccurate instructions to their offices wasted 45 minutes, had my voucher licence and credit card to find there was no booking on the car hire companies system. TWO hours of being messed about to find alternative. Avoid planet agencies

Our experience with this planet rental car hire has been very bad. First they book our booking and when we went to pick up the car, their supply asked uk full driving license. There was no such clarification when we were booking. We had an international license and they gave us the car. We had car hire many times before but this has not happened to us and we were disturbed on the airport road with our one year old child and their supply is very bad.

Just hrs prior to collecting the car i had a problem
I called their office in the uk (i was renting in gran canaria) and spoke with Vincent. He helped me sort the problem out in minutes with no fuss at all.
Previously when renting a car in Spain it's been hassle all the way.
This was trouble free. They will be top of my list for any future rentals.
I can't recommend then enough.
Initial issue resolved by rentalcars
I had a booking with Planet Rentalcars and recently contacted their customer service team regarding a rental issue. I was really impressed with how professionally and promptly they handled the situation. The team took the time to review the case and worked with the rental partner to reach a resolution.
In the end, Planet Rentalcars refunded the full amount, which I greatly appreciated. Their communication throughout was clear, polite and helpful, and it was evident they genuinely wanted to find a fair outcome.
Thank you to the team at Planet Rentalcars for resolving this so quickly and for the excellent customer service. I would happily use their service again in the future.

On February 11, 2026, I rented a car at the Krakow airport through Planet Rental Cars. When we arrived, we discovered that our car was already booked and there was no other available for us because they had already booked all the other cars. We went to a neighboring company to rent something and it worked. Meanwhile, I called the company to complain. Two weeks have passed, and I still haven't received a refund, not even an apology. I don't recommend this company, and if you can, use other companies to avoid similar problems.

Much better experience .
We rented a car via planet rentalcars and were advised to wait at the airport for a shuttle .
We waited almost 3 hours and when we arrived at the off site rental site we were told that the car rental was cancelled as we were late .
The staff were extremely rude .
I contacted planet rentalcars who said they couldn't do anything but we should keep receipts of any costs incurred .
We had to travel by train and taxi and had no car for our holiday which ruined our plans and our holiday .
When we returned home I had to contact planet rentalcars every week for an update on the refund of the money that we had paid out for the car that we did not receive .
Not once did they contact me .
Eventually we were given a refund but they refused to pay the expenses that they promised and now claim that we did not turn up to collect the vehicle .
The worst customer experience of my life .
I would like to submit an update on my review of Planet Rental Cars .
They got in touch to discuss and kindly offered to pay the expenses for transport incurred by us when we did not receive a car .
The cost was approx 40 US Dollars and Planet Rental Cars agreed to pay 40 GB Pounds .
This was very much appreciated by us and we are happy to move on as discussed over the phone .

Very disappointing
Very Stressful Experience – Would Not Recommend
Our pre-booked car rental at Cologne Bonn Airport was cancelled without notice, allegedly because we had not provided a flight number — which was incorrect, as we had included it at the time of booking.
Travelling with a small baby, we urgently needed a car. Instead of refunding the £65.02 already paid, we were offered another vehicle which they called an upgrade, for an additional €200 — more than double the original price. We felt we had no choice but to accept.
After loading all our luggage and the baby’s car seat, a brake warning light appeared, making the car unsafe to drive. My husband had to return to the desk, change vehicles, and reload everything. The following day, the windscreen washer fluid was frozen in cold weather, forcing us to buy supplies ourselves.
Overall, the lack of communication, unsafe vehicle, and unexpected extra costs caused significant stress and inconvenience. A very disappointing experience.

Booking a car and customer service.
Booking a car and use of the website was easy. However, after booking and paying for the car Planet Rentals T&C’s were different to the end vehicle provider and this meant our category of car was downgraded without and notification. We were then unable to have the right vehicle that we had booked and paid for.
Then came the joy of chasing Planet Rental for our payment, which took nearly 2 weeks and many hours and calls made to them chasing as there was no contact from them.
Not a company I will use again, use with care.

Ordered a car to pick up the next day and cancelled within 2 minutes as realised I didn’t have the required pre-authorisation amount on my credit card upon collection, and would need to arrange an increased limit. Company charged me 2 different amounts- one taken from my account and the other a pending transaction. Was offered 80% refund. Can’t help but feel this is a scam - a company able to make £££ off of someone’s misfortune within not even 5 mins.

Rented a car, got to the merchant and they said they needed Utility bills on top of my driving licence, passport and the dvla checker to prove my identity.
Left me with no money for an additional car, have refused the refund with master-card after being told on the phone i would receive a FULL refund.

Zero excess’ Isn’t zero & price advantage disappears at pickup
We booked via PlanetRentalCars and the car was supplied by TurisPrime. PlanetRentalCars’ insurance is misleadingly described as “Zero excess (no payment)”; in reality, you must pay the excess upfront and later claim reimbursement, subject to exclusions, paperwork and even a police report.
Any price advantage disappeared at pickup, where TurisPrime pressured us into buying expensive additional insurance using fear tactics rather than offering a genuine choice.
Booking directly with rental companies with pickup at the airport may be clearer, safer, avoid shuttle waits, and allow airport pickup without hidden costs.

I book car together with insurance. At the airport in Wroclaw I was told the insurance is not valid and need buy another insurance to get car. Paid twice for insurance once with booking, 2nd at pick up. AVOID THEM

When searching for car rentals, Planet Rental Cars were by far the winners finding the best value for me. The booking was smooth and rapid. Really could not have been more pleased.
Now on the car hire day I woke too ill to go which soured my day. Sorting out the cancellation proved what a wonderful company Planet Rental Cars as they bent owe double to return all of my money which did wonders for my Parkinson's. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and everyone. Solid gold they be.
Above and beyond
I usually make my bookings through here and it is quick, cheap and easy to navigate. On this occasion i made a mistake by pressing cancel my last minute booking due to my
phone glitching. Normally the company would not look into refunding my money at all but they valued me as a regular customer and they managed to find a way to refund all my money. Thank you to the lady I spoke to on the phone Sophia. She was very professional very understanding and helpful. Thanks to the accounts team as well for chasing up the query and getting back to me.
Completely unresponsive
I booked a hire car through Planet Rental and was given a collection location in Mount Vernon, Glasgow that simply does not exist. When I arrived and discovered the issue, Planet Rental shrugged me off and told me to call Enterprise myself, despite my contract being with Planet Rental.
I had to spend £50 on a taxi to reach a real Enterprise branch. When I finally collected a car, it was a smaller class than the one I had booked — despite choosing the original class specifically for the boot space.
I emailed a formal complaint on 3 January, followed up on 7 January, and escalated on 8 January. As of 12 January they have not responded to a single message.
I’ve now had to escalate the matter via my credit card provider under Section 75. Extremely poor service, completely unresponsive, and no ownership of their own errors. I would not recommend using this company.

Although i had a bad experience getting a car from the wrong birmingham, the company understood the situation and eventually provided me with the reasonable refund. I appreciate this gesture and value this.
