Bought a policy through my employer 8 months ago. Claims are so easy to make an usually paid within just a few days. Had to claim for an emergency when I saw 4 different dentists in 5 days and all cos... See more

Not worth it
I pay £15 a month , have never claimed in 1.5 years. Claim for the first time of a total of £60 and they only payout £30. Not worth it, much better options.
Corrupt to the core
If you need a real world example of corruption then Unum UK would be a poster boy.
I tried to claim income protection under my employers policy and returned he forms the same day I received them. 6 weeks later received a second set of forms asking the same questions in a slightly different format. Unum wont communicate with me as not the policy holder.
Three and a half months later they decline the claim stating no evidence of me being too ill to work even though I submitted evidence from medical specialist.
So nearly 5 months after I should of received payments they tell my employer that they're now looking to contact specialists which should of been approached st the beginning.
There is a special place in hell for this company.
Poor service
Couple of claims outstanding with them since Dec 2023. They keep asking for information such as "Get a confirmation from your doctor that the treatment was completed same day" "Give us proof of payment" "Confirm that payment was made in full"
The above in itself is not the issue here, the problem is all of this information was already provided to them. When i pointed this out, they said, Oh sorry, the claims handler must have overlooked this information.
Can not fault their service
Can not fault their service. Quick to settle once claim received. 10/10 excellent service!!!!!
Day robbery and retaining customer claims
Been with this unum dental insurance provider for the past 4 years through company benefit scheme. They were only providing the claims for the NHS equivalent of the policy that you hold. Upgrading the policy to a higher premium this year for an implant done on 12/jan/2024, and submitted the claim to get the reimbursement amount which was declined after 10 working days. The reason mentioned was as below. We’re wring to let you know that we’re unable to approve the recent claim made on your dental policy. This is because, when we contacted your surgery to ask whether the implant was dentally necessary, they indicated that you have a funconing removal denture that replaces the missing tooth. From this, we have inferred that
the implant was not needed to restore your dental health, and our management team have advised that the implant would be considered a cosmec choice, which is not covered by your plan with us.
Looking at this, the insurance provider retained a larger portion of the claim amount. Considering the current inflating economy and the fair use of benefits from employer this is unacceptable and no value for high amounts.
Avoid this provider and move to some other provider OR No provider and take care of your health by learning about you.
All the best.

Claim handled efficiently and rapidly. Itemised receipt sent afterwards
We've been paying premiums for two…
We've been paying premiums for two years to cover nhs costs for two people. What a waste of money as it is impossible to find a nhs dentist. It might be good for private dentist but wow, would that cost in premiums if you don't need the dentist.
Quick and simple
Very efficient settlement process
Very efficient settlement process, was paid within days and no quibbles.
My invoice payment was not fully…
My invoice payment was not fully covered even though I paid a single visit to the dentist within the policy year. The excuse of private hygiene treatment which is covered up to £40 per treatment (2 per policy year) is not a good excuse for a single visit within the policy year.
Good response times in approving claims
Very easy to claim and be reimbursed
