The new SolaX G4 is great! They have the smart consumption meter built-in, which most of the other inverters sells it apart as an accessory for around $400 extra. On a nice sunny day, the 5kw Solax p... See more

Bought the batteries in December 23…

Bought the batteries in December 23 from their supplier Rainbow Energy. Soon after installation the Rainbow Energy went into liquidation and the batteries stopped working.

After about 14-15 months I managed to contact Solax who put me in touch with an installer. This installer agreed there was something wrong with the batteries and we had to send them back to Solax who reboosted them and sent them back to me. The batteries have worked for roughly 2 months months and gone done again.

Rang Solax and there is no complaints department and I feel that the batteries are not fit for purpose.
They wanted me to go through a process of fixing it myself which I refused as I am not a technician.

They have agreed to contact the installer who will no doubt charge me for the call out fees.

Where do I go from here?

Rubbish warranty

Good system until the inverter failed then we had to pay a call out fee of £78 to get it fixed even though it was still under warranty. Not good enough but we had no choice to get our solar panels working again.

My inverter doesn't have Internet…

My inverter doesn't have Internet access. Solax point blank refused to tell me how to read information from it. They're only interested if you send all of your data to their cloud server in China.

I can see the inverter on my local network. But all ports are closed. It occasionally sends outbound traffic to the solax servers via MQTT. I can capture that traffic and see what it's doing, but it's just init and time sync messages. Presumably the server needs to send a suitable response to prompt the inverter to start sending power data. But Solax won't tell me what the messages should be.

They are obstructive when I try and find out information. I'd class them as actively customer hostile and are going out of their way to prevent me getting at the data from the device which I bought.

Solax and JoJu - completely useless

Terrible
My Solax inverter and batteries lasted only 4 years and then stopped working. I received a succession of replacements under guarantee ( 3 batteries and 2 inverters) most of which appeared to be used rather than new units. None of them worked and I was without solar battery storage for a year. Neither Solax nor JoJu (the installer) made adequate attempts to resolve the issues nor to collect the decommissioned (non working) batteries from my cellar. Solax themselves came up with a variety of reasons why the system wasn't working, none of them credible. he original failure seemed to happen after a remote software update. In the end I had to pay someone to remove the old units and then had a British battery brand installed at my cost. Neither Solax nor JoJu have offered compensation despite the batteries and inverter being under guarantee. I would not recommend either of them - both Joju and Solax were completely useless.

Nightmare all round

To get the products connected it can be a nightmare.

Also we had two batteries in a row faulty which took us around 7 hours of fault finding with Solax to discover. We were offered compensation that didn't cover our fuel for 3 extra trips and hours of our time fault finding.

Good products, and excellent customer service resolutions

I've been very impressed with solax customer service, hence this review.
So saying, I'm generally a fan of solax products. When we had solar panels installed in 2018, they were installed with a solax inverter, and then a couple of years later we installed two solax triple power batteries with a separate inverter. Both inverters have worked flawlessly and I've been impressed with the Solax app for managing batteries and solar arrays. Last year's app update was glitchy, but eventually I managed to get everything working fine again after a few emails to customer service.

This year I noticed that that the capacity of our T45 batteries had dropped significantly. When I contacted customer services I was told that this was the result of a firmware update designed to extend the batteries' lifespan. At the cost of ~30% capacity. Not good.

After a number of emails, Solax agreed to do a warranty replacement with two refurbished T58 batteries. Yes, I had to pay installers to do the swap, but now all is resolved.

Ideally things would never go wrong, but my experience with solax when things have gone wrong had been very positive.

Crazy system for changing passwords

We've had a Solax system installed for nearly 2 years now and we have been very happy with it. There's just one fly in the ointment that has appeared in the last fortnight: the app on my phone which feeds all the information about the system has stopped working. I can't do anything about it because when I try to contact Solax I am told that my password is incorrect....yet it's the one I have always used since the system was installed.

Even more irritating have been my attempts to change the password. Solax sends me a code to enable me to do so, but I am only given 60 seconds to use the code. It takes at least 59 seconds for the email with the code to appear!!! I hope that someone from Solax reads this and tells me what to do to revive the app because at the moment I have no means of contacting the company.

Has 8 panels installed,working well,app…

Has 8 panels installed, working well, app showing power to the inverter, but then not showing percentage to the home or grid, finally customer service said no communication between the inverter and the meter,to give the data, finally they said that the app only works with a solax meter,so can only see what the solar panels are producing, and say's 100% to the home, none to the grid,my meter is a Toshiba supplyd by British gas,so app only any good if you have a solax meter, why can't they make the app work with all meters,as we don't have a choice,is there another app out there which works with all meters.solax china has told me that to get the information, how much to the grid and how much to the home i need a CT clamp but they only do one halve a meter long lead,I need 5 meters,so on the app I can only see what is coming in to the house,no export showing, other companies do a long lead, they tell me to join a data cable but that would invalid the warranty, come on solax not a big deal to make one longer

Solax delight

Despite initial problems some 16 months' ago with the initial installation I have to say my Hybrid 7.5 KW system has worked flawlessly since. Big enough to charge my EV via its 6.6 KW charger, and with 8.4KWp on the roof, it can even charge the PV batteries at the same time when the sun shines! Today we had a planned 8 hour power outage, so via the BIG changeover switch fitted by my electrician, I isolated the house from the grid and ran the whole house via the EPS output. Despite it being overcast the PV batteries were still at 95% after over 8 hours... electricity bill down to around £150 a year, including charging the car, absolutely brilliant!

The new updated app is a real step backwards.

Inaccessible information compared to the old app.

Stops working no facility to access relevant information as before such as battery temperature and force charging an essential feature during the winter will not load.
