Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers encountered significant issues with the products, frequently reporting problems with windshield replacements, including cracks appearing shortly after installation, incorrect parts being used, and damage to their vehicles during the process. People also experienced poor customer service, describing it as unhelpful and dismissive, with many struggling to get issues resolved or even to speak with a human representative. Furthermore, communication was often lacking, with missed appointments, unannounced cancellations, and a general absence of updates. Some people were dissatisfied with the service and staff, citing instances of technicians not showing up, being late, or performing subpar work. There were also reports of difficulty contacting the company, with automated systems being a barrier to reaching support. However, some customers did have positive experiences with individual technicians, praising their professionalism and efficiency, and a few noted quick and proper installations.

I had scheduled to have my windshield…

I had scheduled to have my windshield replaced but unfortunately, they do not come to my area. So, I made arrangements to drop my car of at my mother and borrow hers so I could go to work. Well, they had called that day to let me know that they would not be coming out. They said that my glass had not been delivered prior to my appointment date. I had to reschedule and again make arrangements. It was very inconvenient trying to arrange times and adjust childcare options so I could still work. Everything was set and done. I get a call about an hour before the end of the time arrangements to let me know they are not able to make it again. Apparently, they only have 1 person who comes to change glass even though they are known for coming to costumers' areas. I was very displeased as it was hard for me being a single parent to not only once but twice try to get this done at THEIR specific areas. I will never use them again!!

Look elsewhere if you want the job done.

Setup an appointment for 03/13/2026 but they had to overbooked and had to reschedule me. Rescheduled for 12:00 to 5:00 PM on 03/17/2026, they were a no show leaving me doing nothing for the day. I did call the number back they left me in case I had any questions, it wasn't answered either time I called. They only have high reviews on their site, every other site gives them poor reviews, should have done the research before all of this.

Safelite return, Safelite repeat

For what should have been a simple windshield replacement took SIX visits to remedy. Long story summarised as:
- incompetent admin staff at the local office who didn't order parts or book the correct appointment
- a central office which ineffectively handled my request resulting in another wasted visit
- an ineffective warehouse which incorrectly labelled a part in their system so the wrong part was sent out
- a cold, cheaply furnished waiting area with no comfy chairs at all

The only upsides were
- the local manager who stepped up and took responsibility for the error on the fourth visit to the office and who organised the eventual replacement on site at my husband's work, and
- the two technicians who came to site and did their jobs well

This company needs an overhaul.

I’m very disappointed with this…

I’m very disappointed with this experience. After the crack on my windshield, the company insisted I had to pay for an expensive static calibration in the shop, costing over $800. What they did not clearly explain is that many vehicles can complete a dynamic calibration simply by being driven under the right conditions.

The dynamic calibration method is straightforward: drive on a straight, clearly marked road with visible lane lines, maintain about 35 to 56 mph, keep the vehicle steady for around 3 to 5 minutes, and the process completes when the camera indicator changes from amber to green.

Instead of giving me that option, they pushed the costly in-shop calibration method using target boards and lasers. Meanwhile, another company replaced the windshield for only $270 and advised me to just drive the truck so it could self-calibrate.

I feel like this company forced an unnecessary service on me and charged an outrageous amount for it. I would not recommend them based on my experience.

If it's determined your vehicle manufacturer requires recalibration to ensure your vehicle's advanced safety systems work correctly after the glass replacement it must be completed per safety guidelines. Sorry for any issues.

Terrible experience with Safelite

Had a windshield claim with my insurance company and they scheduled an appointment for me with Safelite. I have no idea why they would use or schedule with this company because I will never use them again or refer them to anyone that I know. The technician was very nice but tore both of our hood cowls during the removal process. When I scheduled an appointment for a Warranty Inspection I was told that "clearly rodents chewed on the hood cowls". Unless the technician brought his pet rat to work that day, rodents did not chew up the hood cowls. The damage happened during the 2 hour replacement appointment. Perhaps it was the Oscillating tool that he used on both sides of the vehicle when the hood was up. My home camera footage would certainly suggest so. Now they have to confer with the Manager, who was conveniently not there during my Warranty Inspection. They said they will get back to me......I'll hold my breath. -- Spring Hill, FL. location

Absolute failure of a company

March, 2026, Azalea Park, Florida location (Orlando area). Safelite must be taught a big financial lesson, because ethics has long left the building. Thieves. Mobile appt for my 25 y.o. daughter. Whether the crack ended up being filled or the windshield was replaced, it should have been fully paid by insurance. The tech double talked and confused her, "filled" the crack but fixed nothing b/c it was 100% still there when he was "done", she then got nervous being there with this guy and his double talk buffoonery and wanted the appt to end, he then "gave her a discount", told her to cancel her appt so he could apply it, (so he could easily continue the fraud) and had her send $80 to his personal Venmo. Fraud. Liar. SafeLite got involved but ended up a complete failure of a company, the failure thief manager got involved who was clearly *clearly* complicit...which I said to him... b/c he hoped I'd go away after he never got back to me. Nope, I went nowhere until she got her stolen $80 back. Safelite never tried to make things right by supplying what she needed in the first place, not *one* apology from any subpar employee that I spoke to...no new windshield...and only begrudgingly refunded her fraudulently obtained $80 3 weeks later because I didn't let up. Patronize the small businesses folks...there's other choices...Safelite needs to be out more than $80. Trash company. I've told dozens of people who will also tell dozens. They treat customers like trash and this is the result.

The WORST customer service I've ever experienced

Appointment confirmed, timeframe promised, zero contact from anyone. Used AI chat, finally talked to a human being, three different attempts to get my appointment honored and no contact. The customer experience is simply terrible. At this point I'm glad I checked here and can cancel before they screw my window up worse than it is now.

Don't Do Business With Safelite

Our auto insurance booked us an appointment to have a windshield replacement on a Jeep Wrangler 2002 had to wait a week for the appointment. We got a call 24hrs before the appointment telling us they do not service vehicles over 20yrs old. Nice way to discriminate the class of customers that have money to pay out of pocket for vintage/classic cars. Not to mention the poor customer service.

Safelite does not honor it’s time commitment

I booked an appointment a month ago specifically for Friday 8 AM to noon. They sent me multiple confirmations by phone text and email confirming this date and time.

On the day of the appointment, the service person calls me and tells me “I don’t know why they did this to me. They gave me four other appointments and you are last. I won’t be there until after 3 PM.”

I called our customer service number thinking they would certainly honor their appointment. I explained that I had multiple appointments this afternoon. They offered me no options. They were entirely un empathetic. They told me I could reschedule or cancel and use another company. That’s it! No other options!

Damaged replacement windshield during…

Damaged replacement windshield during install that cracked a year later. Would not honor warranty as technicians like to take advantage of women. Lied about reasoning that warranty was not honored to their corporate teams to get away with this in justice.

If I could review and leave zero stars…

If I could review and leave zero stars I would. Spent two weeks of my life waiting for appointments that would be cancelled by them. Get all the msgs and videos to watch to make sure I'm ready for them. Only to get at the very last minute, cancelled! Rescheduled, same shit. Rescheduled, same shit. Rescheduled and at the very last moment they cancelled and they suggested I try to find someone else. Excuses were many. Apologies we're not given. I don't recommend if you need to have done by any certain date. I cannot speak on quality of work. It was never done. Thanks for the run around and waste of time safelite

Inept customer service.

They don't use email. Eventually, after an AI rigmarole, I got through to someone and they scheduled an appointment for the next day. An hour into the 12-5 window, I got an email saying that they had completed their work. In fact, I had had no contact with them. It turned out that along the way, someone had recorded my phone number incorrectly, so that means of communication would not work. Thus, their tech had come to my house, failed to make contact, and moved on. However, I had also had email exchanges with them, and instead of telling me they had completed their work (untrue) they could have sent a message telling me they were having trouble with my phone. Every time I called they had trouble hearing me, and often I had trouble hearing them; and every time I called it took ten minutes for them to find their record on my case after asking me for phone number, address, their case number, etc. All in all, I got the feeling that they were trying to save money on employees, customer service, data systems, voice communication, etc., which ended up with their tech making a wasted call. I will not try to do business with them any more.

Setup an appt with safelight

Setup an appt with safelight, everything went smooth at first. They came to complete my job and stated that for the $200 they would just fix the whole in my window. I told them no, for $200, I need a brand-new window and would even pay the difference. Safelight left stating they would call and I have not heard from them. They just took my money, and I have not heard from them. Please call me safelight. You have my money and I want my service!

Whatever you do.....

Whatever you do, don't have them repair a small rock chip! They made it even worse! I was in the Dealership Auto Parts world for 49+ years. Saw numerous windshields with the same kind of chip fixed with no problem. Chip repaired and all that was left was a small spot about the size of a pin head. Even had one or two fixed on my personal vehicles with the same results. I should have stopped them as soon as the tech they sent told me he had only been doing this for a couple months and hasn't been out on his own long....RED FLAG. He tells me before he starts "Just so you know the machine I use could cause it to crack a little more but when I'm done there should be no more than a small blemish" Of course my response was "As small as it is it shouldn't. I've had these kind of things repaired before with no issue" to which he says "No, shouldn't be a problem"
When he started I had a small chip and 2 web cracks no more than about 1/8" long if that. Now I still have the chip with a crack almost 1/2" long and right in my field of vision. The explanation he gives is "Yea, that can happen with glass". Then they want to charge me $800 to replace it!! Now mind you, I've never used Safelite before, but I just thought if a small local glass company in Olathe, Kansas can fix them with no issues, surely a Nationwide company like Safelite should be okay. WRONG!!!!
And of course he was supposed to have his manager call me. Not gonna hold my breath on that.

We're sorry to hear that the repair attempt did not meet your expectations. The repair process is only an attempt to save the integrity of the glass, at times the repair may still be visible depending on the size (width and depth) of the chip. If at any time the repair spreads and or you are unhappy with the repair; that amount will be credited toward the full replacement of your windshield. We hope this information was helpful, and we appreciate your understanding. Thank you.

CAN'T CONTACT, CAN'T CALL, CAN'T EMAIL

I am just sorry I have to give them any stars at all. The service wasn't that bad but they couldn't finish recalibrating it - missing a part so I had to reschedule for two weeks out because I work out of town. I was told only 2 unimportant features would be out but in reality I don't have cruise control, a very big deal since I drive for work.
What I really hate is that you can't speak to a human being and you can't email the company or contact them in any way. It's INSANE! I've never dealt with a company that won't allow any contact AT ALL. NONE. So now if I want to tell this shop that the cruise is also out so maybe they need a different or additional part to repair it in two weeks, I have to drive another 30-40 minutes in heavy traffic. I WILL NEVER USE SAFE-LITE AGAIN. Do yourself a favor and use a local company.

Total Scam

Total Scam. They replaced my windshield. Within a few months I had a crack on my windshield spreading out. The lifetime warranty doesn't mean anything. The lifetime doesn't cover over 20 causes listing on their website. And why would I want more of the same garbage. 💩

Upselling scam

Had safelite windshield repair come out to repair a small chip in my windshield. A simple chip with no radiating cracks or gouges. The technician completed the repair and said no driving for a couple of hours and no car wash for a week. Truck didn't move for several days. About three weeks later, washed the windshield and some plastic came off around the repair and there was a hole in the chip. Called safelite for warranty repairs (warranted for the life of the truck) and they told me that they couldn't redo the repair and my only option was to buy a new windshield! So, their technician did a faulty repair and my only recourse was for me to purchase a new windshield from them. An interesting way to upsell to a very expensive windshield caused by a defective repair done by them. Searching through the internet reveals that this unethical method of upselling is not uncommon, but I thought using a nationally recognized company like Safelite rather than a small local shop would eliminate that worry.
