Beware. If you are a layperson ordering online, just beware. These rooflights are INCREDIBLY heavy. Mine, just 750x900, are >70 kg each. They are nothing like ordinary veluxes. You simply cannot order one of these online and expect to be able to fit it simply and without hassle. My extremely experienced roofers were astonished by the weight. Our project is in the extension of a Victorian house and the roofers have said that the timbers would have to be replaced with stronger ones to support the weight. And high spec lead is needed for flashing (not provided) adding to the weight. I realise that I have been extremely stupid not thinking this through better beforehand but I spoke to two of the Roofmaker 'advisers' before I bought, who assured me that installation would be a doddle and not mentioning any potential issues to do with weight or the structural integrity needed to support these things. I'm now having to buy two Veluxes to replace these ... and I've wasted £2000 since Roofmaker will not take their rooflights back, basically just arguing 'buyer beware'. I'm sure they are good quality (they ought to be for the price), but I just don't want other people to make the same stupid mistake that I have in not appreciating what they are buying here.

However, we would like to clarify that on average, our rooflights are not significantly heavier than competitor products and fall within the normal weight bandings you would expect for high-quality, architectural-grade rooflights. This can certainly be a surprise if you’re not familiar with these types of specialist products, and we agree that it’s important this is made clear to all customers, especially those ordering online or working on domestic extension projects like yours. However, as part of our internal processes we ensure that at the time of ordering our products, we fully highlight the implications around weight, support, and installation requirements.
Our Managing Director has undertaken a thorough internal review of this specific situation, including the telephone conversations and email correspondence you referenced. The outcome of this review confirmed that the relevant sales agent has been fully transparent throughout the entire process at the time of ordering regarding the specification, size, weight and installation process. This included arranging for our technical team to speak directly with your builder to assist with installation by going through the product installation guide with them — all aimed at supporting your project as much as possible.
While our returns policy follows standard terms for bespoke, made-to-order products, we regret any disappointment caused and are committed to making sure our processes and product information clearer for all customers going forward.

Good product, poor and chaotic customer service
Been waiting almost a year for the blinds to go on my two large roof lanterns -all paid for. Called and been promised multiple times that they are coming and no one turns up. Finally they got to grips with this. The roof lanterns were great -but the product is let down by chaotic central admin and customer service.

Poor customer service
Hi, bought 4 roof lights from this company. One of them has been defective, water drops inside the glazing unit and now there is a crack which is developing day by day.
Customer service department does not seem to be working at all. Had to wait for the service engineer to come on site for 6 weeks from original report and now since the visit have been waiting for 2 months for the replacement unit to arrive and to be fitted. Clearly a manufacturing fault.

Having contacted the company regarding my 15 year old roof lantern I enquired about the replacement of spare parts. I spoke to Stella who was extremely helpful polite and efficient in locating the now obsolete parts. To my surprise she found some! I received a message from Stella saying the parts would be delivered the next day from enquiry to delivery 6 days. Failure to respond to calls and emails
Update 16/6/25 - Regarding the below issue I’m pleased to be able to update that within 24hrs of posting I was contacted directly by the MD Kishnan Bhogaita who immediately took charge of the issue, apologised profusely over what happened and we’ve been able to arrange a service visit to assess and resolve the problem on 2nd July.
It’s important to reflect when things go well as it is when they don’t and Krishnans personal response to my problem has been fantastic and restored my faith in Roof Maker. 🤞 that the issue is finally resolved after the engineer visit. Thank you Kishnan.
2/6/25 - We had a large electric roof light installed in October 2023 and when failed to open in December 2024 our installer contacted roof maker and eventually in January 2025 they sent out engineers to fix the problem and replace one of the chain motors.
At the beginning of April 2025 the same motor failed again and wouldn't open (the roof light lifting slightly on the opposite side before closing again) my installer tried to contact customer services on a number of occasion without any luck or proper response.
I called on the 22nd April and left a message and then emailed on 13th May explaining the situation and included a short video showing the problem, and again on the 28th May with neither email getting any response. I've also called twice today (2nd June) and heard a message saying they can't take my call and to leave a voice mail which I did.
Lastly through Trust Pilot I saw the email of the customer services manager Emma Mackay and have emailed her direct.
So far I have had a very expensive window that has not worked properly for a number of weeks and whilst we've had some lovely weather we've been unable to open it for ventilation in our kitchen.
All I want is for someone to take ownership of this issue at Roof Maker and help us solve the problem... that shouldn't be too much to ask surely..???

I also opted for a clearance stock item after initially going down the route of a custom size lantern.
Really happy with the Slimline lantern and I used the money I saved buying one of the discounted stock rooflights to pay for Roof-Maker to install it.
My own builder could have done it but having the manufacturer install it makes more sense to me…you get extra warranty also.
