My experience with Miller Homes was absolutely unacceptable. I hadn’t even lived in my home for two years, and my front door had already been adjusted three times. It then failed for a fourth time and would no longer lock properly. A front door on a new-build home should not become an ongoing maintenance issue.
What made the situation even worse was the way the West Midlands Inspection Manager dealt with it. His attitude was incredibly patronising.
One of the most unbelievable conversations was when my front door would not lock one evening. To secure my home and my child, I removed the top lock so that I could at least lock the door overnight. The West Midlands inspect manager later told me I should never have done that because it had voided the warranty. When I asked what I was supposed to have done instead, he simply said I should have called somebody. Who? If simply removing the top lock was enough to void the warranty, how would calling somebody out to remove the same lock have been any different? As a single woman with a child, leaving my home unsecured overnight was never an option. I found his reasoning completely absurd.
He then went on to tell me that “everyone adjusts their front doors twice a year” and suggested I should simply adjust it myself. He even said the first time he adjusted the door, and I quote, “Adjusting your door is general maintenance, it’s part of being a homeowner, love.”. For less than 6 months later it to be unable to lock again. I found that comment incredibly patronising. Personally, I struggle to believe he would have addressed a large male customer with the same statement.
I asked him whether he adjusted his own front door twice a year. He said yes.
Readers, take a moment before continuing. Have you adjusted your own front door four times in the last two years? Or even once? That’s exactly what I was expected to accept as “normal” on a brand-new home.
This isn’t a five-minute job either. Correctly aligning the door involves adjusting 24 screws. I am not a door engineer, and I don’t believe any homeowner should be expected to know how to carry out this kind of work on a brand-new home. In my case, this wasn’t simply a settling issue. The door had a bow and ultimately had to be replaced rather than adjusted yet again.
After the West Midlands inspect manager reinstalled the top lock, I asked him to try locking the door himself. Neither I nor two representatives from the independent company could lock it using normal force. The West Midlands inspect manager eventually managed to lock it, but only by using so much force that my door handle was left noticeably loose and remained wobbly for the following few weeks until the entire door was replaced.
I also raised concerns that the front door was not meeting the relevant safety standards because it could not be secured properly. I felt those concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously, despite the obvious security implications for my home and my child.
The condition of the door had also continued to deteriorate. The bow increased from 2mm to 2.5mm in less than eight months, yet the West Midlands inspect manager maintained that this was not the reason the door wouldn’t lock because it had not reached 3mm. I found it astonishing that a door could visibly worsen while the problem was repeatedly dismissed.
The door has since been replaced by Nationwide Doors and Windows. The engineers who replaced it told me they could not believe Miller Homes had considered the condition of the original door acceptable.
For the price of a new-build home, I expected quality, accountability and a front door that actually locked. Instead, I experienced repeated failures, excuses and patronising customer service.
Based on my experience, I would strongly reconsider buying from Miller Homes, particularly if you’re a single woman with a child. I was made to feel as though repeated failures, carrying out my own repairs and accepting dismissive treatment were all considered normal.
Finally, please don’t respond to this review with the same generic request to email your customer service address that appears on so many other Trustpilot reviews. I already did that, multiple times, and was ignored. If Miller Homes genuinely wants to improve its customer service, it should start by looking at how this case was handled by the West Midlands Inspection Manager rather than sending another template response.

More snagging work to be done but always delighted when both Terry and Mihail are allocated the work. They are invariably helpful, punctual and courteous and show a high degree of professionalism, and are not afraid to offer advice where perhaps necessary.

A year after we bought from Miller homes they dug out all our turf to put in a membrane. 12 weeks later still no turf put back on and communication is diabolical.

Great communication in the morning to discuss times. Very understanding of having to wait a short time for me to arrive home. Very respectful of my home and made minimal mess himself which he tidied up before he left and did the job well even tided up some additional small cracks in the wall without asking! Very polite and would recommend.

Incredible service from Mark who came to our home in Sutton Coldfield. Mark came to address some painting issues, as well as fixing a hole in the roof from a previous job. Mark was extremely professional. He clearly takes exceptional pride in his work and even completed numerous extra painting jobs that were not in his contracted list. Mark went above and beyond and the quality of his work was absolutely superb. Additionally, he was great to talk to. Really enjoyed his company. Mark is an absolute asset to the company!

Tricia at Avonside Wisp was really helpful today! We went to look at the show home as it’s very similar to our new Cedarwood (coming soon!) She talked to us about the options in the show home and answered our many questions. Thank you, Tricia!

Anusan was very welcoming and helped with giving me insights into what would be the best way to sell my house and purchase at orchard view. We have done an assisted move application with them and will hopefully look to go on the market and purchase a plot at orchard view.

We bought our home from Hannah at Seaham Garden Village and received truly exceptional service from start to finish. Hannah was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and professional, making the entire purchasing process so much easier and far less stressful than we expected.
Any questions or queries we had were dealt with quickly, and Hannah was always happy to help. Alongside her colleague Kimberley, they kept us informed throughout and made us feel fully supported every step of the way.
The level of customer service we received was honestly amazing. If you're looking to buy a home at Seaham Garden Village, I couldn't recommend speaking with Hannah highly enough. She is fantastic at her job, and we're so grateful for everything she did to help us buy our home.

Charters Gate in Castle Donington (DE74) Complete disregard for customer service and delivery of promises. Site still not complete with multiple issues not being acknowledged or responded to from many residents.
Millers push residents for positive reviews following completion (the honeymoon period) when you are just glad to get in your new home!
Then things change suddenly when issues are raised, as every issue has a tolerance and you guessed it, it’s in tolerance although the tolerances are never published!
Poor quality materials, composite doors that are not composite bow and have to be replaced, micro cracking to the whole upstairs along with kitchen floor not level, the list goes on and you are made to feel that you are the problem.
A park space with children’s play area and football pitch that was promised a year ago still not complete, roads not surfaced, pathways not fit for purpose and constant corners cut across the site.
Miller Homes and others are holding up completion of Charters gate on issues that should have been resolved at the planning stage!
Get it together and deliver on your promises made at point of sale, you are a disgrace, failing customers miserably and I for one wouldn't ever recommend a purchase from you.

Me and my husband had a great experience with Abdullatif at Miller homes at Forster park. He was very helpful and had an interest on understanding what we wanted to be able to show us the right home.

Nicola at Dial House Place, Rainford was extremely helpful when myself and my partner dropped in to view the homes available. She was very knowledge about the site, providing us with different options around selling our current home and purchasing a new property with Miller Homes. Nicola also arranged for us to view another site next door that same day! We are hoping to return this weekend to view a different plot :)

I’ve been so impressed by the customer service of Miller Homes. Caroline, the Sales Manager for Holmebank Gardens, has been so kind, helpful and informative - and continues to be a point of advice and support after my move. Darren couldn’t have been more willing to help with the (very few) snagging issues I have had - and Harry, the Yorkshire Technician, gave remarkable service today - sorting out a few issues in the incredible heat with good humour and great professionalism. Have bought new properties before but the process has never been as easy, satisfying and enjoyable as with Miller Homes.

Hazel at the fairways was brilliant. She’s very knowledgeable and showed us around many homes to see what we liked and wanted as we are first time buyers. She was very professional and an all around great sales manager for us! We didn’t feel pressured at any point and she also gave us a lot of advice and tips as we are new to this process. Great person to speak to😇
