I don’t usually leave public complaints, but I feel like people should know what they’re getting into before investing in a Mila air purifier or subscribing to their filter service.
We bought a Mila air purifier less than a year ago, and it started making a terrible noise pretty quickly. Life got busy, so I didn’t report it right away—we just lived with the noise for a while. When I finally contacted support, I went through all their troubleshooting steps, sent multiple videos, and dealt with a lot of back and forth. Eventually, I gave up and bought a different purifier from another brand.
Since we weren’t using the Mila anymore, I went into my account and canceled my filter subscription—or so I thought. Apparently, I had two separate subscriptions running, and I only canceled one. No warning popped up when I canceled, no red flags. Just a quiet assumption that I was done. Then out of nowhere, I received another $60+ filter I didn’t want, for a machine I no longer use.
When I reached out to Mila, they told me that because they send a “heads-up” email four days before shipping, and because of their health and safety policy, they can’t accept returns—even for a product that is still sealed in the box and completely untouched.
Honestly, I probably could’ve just walked into the post office and said “Return to Sender,” but I figured being honest and working with the company would yield a decent outcome. It didn’t.
And that’s what really bothers me:
This is just another example of a company using fine print and technicalities to trap you in a subscription model. No real reminder. No text alert. Just an email buried under spam and junk that most of us don’t have time to sift through daily.
If you’re thinking of buying a Mila purifier, be warned:
• The product may not last a full year.
• Canceling subscriptions is confusing and unclear.
• Customer service will not make exceptions, even when the product is unopened and unused.
• “Health and safety” is being used as a blanket excuse to keep your money.
This experience has made me even more hesitant about any subscription service moving forward. It shouldn’t be this hard to stop buying something you no longer use.

Fantastic support when I had a problem. They never gave up on me and eventually I managed to do what I needed.

After cancelling my subscription over a year ago they suddenly shipped me 2 filters for $158. I tried to return them and was told I couldn't. I don't think their product works well which is why I cancelled over a year ago. I've filed complaints with BBB and my credit card company.

Terrible product.
Bought a Mila Air way back at the end of 2021 but within a couple of years light use it had two significant issues the first being random rebooting and the second being a noisy fan. Advised at the time of contacting Mila that the fan was a known quality issue. To their credit they replaced the unit. Fast forward just over 12 months from the warranty replacement and guess what, the same noisy fan issue. So a known issue over a number of years has not been fixed and the unit has failed once more. However this time they don’t want to know. So filter subscription cancelled and will use up the couple of spare filters I have running the unit when not at home before finding a better quality and quiet product.

I reported to Mila that humidity was reading high. They were able to recalibrate my Mila remotely and fixed the problem within hours. Amazing!

**Update as of May 5, 2025:**
I have taken action as per the instructions provided by the Mila Team on TrustPilot. Regrettably, no resolution was achieved. Mila failed to acknowledge responsibility for the issue and instead proposed a solution that resulted in an increase in their revenue. Specifically, they charged me for the new filter subscription and a discounted new unit. The primary concern is the lack of transparency regarding the issue your company knew about. A refund or credit would have been away to apologize for misleading me but instead they choose to stand by their original decision.
Guess what? I got a new Mila unit! But it had a little error/hicup with a sensor. Thankfully, they were able to fix it remotely. This is my second Mila. The first one had a known issue, but they made me pay for a replacement which I’m not very happy about. I don’t think I’ll very pay for another Mila considering the issues I had with my old and new one. I hope the new on doesn’t fail or break like the first one! The customer service is nice but clearly wasn’t interested in making the customer feel cared for, valued and our relationship didn’t mean much seeing as though they didn’t back their product due to build issue on their side.

I don't contact customer support often, but when I do they are always responsive and helpful. They also seem to work well as a team and cover each other on days off.

Its a good piece of kit, until it breaks, then they don't want to know.
Wish we'd read trust pilot before purchasing as it seems like it's a theme that they break just outside of warranty, then offer no customer support. Fan issue this time, looks like one of many faults with these products.
After 15 emails back and forth with support@milacares, I've been blown away with the lack of professionalism from their support staff.
If you want a VERY expensive air purifier that's not built to last, get a Mila. You won't be disappointed.

We love our clean Air that our Mila’s bring us and we are satisfied with the service we receive from the staff at Mila.
Thank you.

he first one I had became unbearably loud within a year even when on a low setting. When I sent them a video, they said it was malfunctioning and sent a replacement, but that one also broke down and became unbearably loud within 3 months. The filters also never have anything on them when they're changed so I'm not sure it was doing anything. They also won't take returns of any kind, even of replacement filters untouched/still in box. I feel scammed by their fancy marketing to spending a crazy amount on this air purifier and their also crazily overpriced filters.
EDIT: To anyone reading this, please do not think the canned public responses to these reviews mean this company cares. The only solution they will ever offer you is to waste your time with a faulty replacement. Spend your money elsewhere.

The motor bearings on Mila products are incredibly cheap, which means the motor will become noisy shortly after purchase.
Their support staff on 10th May 2024 confirmed this: "...there have been some issues such as the motor bearings that customers have faced...", but yet they won't repair it out of warranty now.
Just buy another brand.

Once the item stops working, you're out of luck and they won't help you at all. Even as an original backer of this item who invested hundreds, they simply asked me to purchase a new one - pathetic!

EDIT: They did reach out in response to this so I am bumping it up to a 2 star... but I didn't bother replying and have ust thrown them in the dumpster.
I have 4 Milas that are maybe 3-4 years old.
All of them have stopped working.
2 of them power on and just continuously beep and don’t work.
The other two power on and act like they are going to do what they are supposed but the fan never starts.
Their customer service is terrible and expects you to go through hours of troubleshooting and record it on video and it still doesn’t work.
Also they make an absurd amount of noice on their most effective setting.
Definitely avoid.
But no Mila Cares is not a scam.

I brought 1 machine back in 2022. It was great while it lasted & I do miss it. However, since January 2025 it stopped working and the Mila team confirmed there was nothing they could do, other than kindly offer me a refund. Even though it is out of the warranty. However, it’s been over 2 weeks & I have not received the refund. As they have said they can only refund back to the original payment card. I explained the card I used to buy the Mila no longer exists. Because it has been around 3 years. And I asked if it could be paid to another card. They said no. Even though I very much loved the Mila. I expected it to last longer. So cannot recommend this product. And to think, I was very close to buying a 2nd machine.

Both their product and customer service are terrible. First I bought a small one on 11-30-24, and received no shipping updates as of yet (12-15-24). I reached out via email, heard nothing, emailed again, nothing. Then stalked them on social media, and finally 4 days later I'm told they'll check on shipping (still haven't got back to me on that) and they said they never got the emails (untrue unless they have a problem on their end and that's on them). This combined with a terribly inconsistent product we already have (reads inside AQI as 221 (which is unhealthy) when its actually 37 (just as one example), makes this product/company a fail. Buyer beware!

Recently I purchased the Mila Air Mini.
What ultimately made me choose it over other models all over the internet by every company imaginable is the fact I heard about Jasper a competitor. After looking into Jasper I realized most air filters were not comparable on the market and most show you no proof it is working and what it is working on. Not to mention doesn’t work on everything or gives false promises.
I purchased Mila over Jasper for a few reasons.
The design of both their branding and the product, the cost Mila is affordable after you understand what it does compared to other filters on the market; even more affordable when you compare it to Jasper.
And the Mila Mini launch! This one with the preorder price and form sold it for me.
Once I received my Mila I was blown away. The features of the device, the information it shows in the app, and the way everything is easily explained—with memes and pictures I might add. It is a “breath of fresh air” a company that doesn’t feel corporate but feels like a friend. And of course, the most important—the air in my house is noticeably different!
Plus, without me even realizing It has home kit integration which is amazing! My whole house setup is HomeKit!! The Mila app is way better for the data and ai it uses to cycle through modes without interference. The home kit features are subpar for an air filter, Apple needs to add more but it is ready for Apple's future updates if they do!
On that note, you can use Homekit if you wish to use Mila’s sensors in your automation and scenes.
Overall amazing app and an amazing product! Bravo

Well. This is an overpriced (both unit and filter) unit. We have had 2. Both very noisy, and one needed replacement because of extensive fan noise (good, but slow service though). The filters are of convincing quality, but are very pricey (the same price as for the budget air purifiers in total). And...the cheapest 3 are not available for my country (Norway). With replacement intervals of 6 months it is quite hopeless, like $ 2200 for 10 years of use for two units ($3300 if we should cover our house, needing 3 units). We find them not as intuitive as some of the reviews says they are (Android phone), and often loses contact with the units.

This is my second Mila. The first one I purchased made my walls all black. I had to paint again. The company replaced it but now this one is not working and will not connect to my wifi. Not the first time this has happened either. I have had to fiddle with it many times.I am told that there is something wrong with the machine but I am just out of warranty by a couple of months. Now offering to send me a new one at a discounted price!
This machine is way over priced to begin with if it only last 3 years (and with issues)
I would not purchase another one and would not recommend it to anyone, Buyer beware…

UPDATE: Mila replaced my unit out of warranty with one of their newer models, which has been flawless. They included a filter and went above and beyond to make this right. Hunter was particularly helpful throughout the process. I’m very happy with both the product and their commitment to standing behind it.
Original review: Had 2 of these now paid for myself as out of warranty what happens is the fan starts sounding like a distant house alarm going off, the fans are not built to last in these units wouldn’t buy another one as they seem to fail just out of the warranty period
