I wouldn't recommend getting involved with this company at all, especially elderly people. They have no regard for their customers at all. Pathetic service and disgusting communication.
The worst I have experienced ever in 50 years.
They are not even worth the 1 star!!!
There public relations is appalling.
We tried to advise of a disconnection and a reconnection 30 kilometres away.
Couldn't even do that.
Avoid them at all costs. Absolutely not advisable!! RUBBISH!!
I wish I had seen Trust Pilot before I went with EK, I have been getting estimates for over a year apparently due to an issue with my meter. At first they were estimating about $80 per fortnight then they started charging me over $10 a day. I am in a sunny one bedroom insulated flat. Once the meter was fixed they were unable to measure how much power i had used. They offered me a credit but it did not come close to the over payments I have been making. A giant rip off
What a stuff around. I changed network providers. They switched it earlier than the set date so I ended up with 2 networks..... Email after email because you can't ring, getting a different person each time and having to repeat the same story over and over. To make it worse my phone stopping being able to recieve calls and tx and then the network dropped of completely. So now I have 2 providers with no network connection at all and due to recieve two bills for someones mistake.
I joined electric kiwi a few weeks ago following some doubts at the reviews online.
They have an awesome app that helps you track spending and savings on power each day as well as the option to make direct payments via the app to suit budget.
One of the main things I have been concerned about was the pricing with Peak - Off Peak costs though we have managed to start a routine which has less power usage during these peak times so have not yet noticed any major costs associated with this company compared to others
Any time I've needed assistance staff have been a quick message away and have all been friendly and efficient in answering my queries.
We also have broadband as well as power which we have had no issues with at all and set up was easy as with the fibre itself having no glitching or cutting out like I have experienced with other companies.
Overall a helpful wee company who encourages cutting back on power usage while also providing handy customer service when needed.
Absolutely raging! They ignored the day to take my money for the Stay Ahead and more than doubled the amount so my rent wasn't paid and I'm now short of money.May be time to choose another supplier!
I have been customer of ElectricKiwi for almost 2 years now, having their electricity and broadband connection and now mobile as well.
After having few issues with electricity connection , it was resolved.
Regarding the broadband, i have contacted the customer service through their chat portal may be thousand times already, and still hasn't been solved. I have even requested to send some technician to the property to have a look , but never happened. is this your customer service? To be honest, this is the worst broadband connection i have ever used, being living in various countries in the past.
I dont know why, i am so stupid that i opted to use their mobile connection now. I started since 25 Dec 2024, but its 30 Dec now, and still i dont have mobile connection. Is this your customer service?
Being a loyal customer for 2 years, you dont care about guests satisfaction, and what do you expect in return?
Being honest, other providers like 2Degree, Spark, OneNZ has far better connections and customer service, and in really regret opting to your services and produts.
I am raising this review hoping that you would have a look into it and show conerns to the customers using your products.
CUSTOMER BEWARE!
Taking this company to court, they over charge their customers and you cannot dispute as their customer service is non-existent. As seen by others posting, they do daylight robbery.
Good luck getting in touch if you have a problem but luckily I never did. Prices went through the roof so I bailed but trying to find out my plan and get in contact regarding that and they are beyond useless. Don't let the kiwi in the name fool you, none of their employees are.
Our WIFI randomly stopped working yesterday and I spent all day talking to their “customer service” which is just an offline chat. Not only were they extremely unhelpful but it took them 5 - 10 minutes between each reply. They constantly tried to refer me to our router and modem manufacturers rather than try and assist me. In the end we contacted Voyager who were our previous provider and re-joined with them and it took them 17 minutes to guide us and get our WIFI working again.
TLDR - I highly recommend Voyager for your internet, they are expensive but their customer support is excellent and I highly discourage anyone from using Electric Kiwi.
If i could give less i would. Where can I start they have generated overdue payments our of nowhere. When you try to sort it they try to access your accounts for money you don't owe. I have had nothing but trouble all year. We are taking them to court finding out they over charged us by over $700 and would have never known if my daughter didn't clear it up. Daylight robbery. Automated replies that tell you to pay. The money clears from the account then they say you didn't pay. It's a lot of mess around with emails and they are bot giving it back easily. This may go to court.
Honestly the worst company, just want to talk to someone on the phone but with no number and they refuse to call after emailing asking someone to call. If you want something done e.g. get fibre installed, move a switchboard or anything else, you're never given a date and have to keep following up. Never given a straight answer. Communication is rubbish. I'm changing companies. Don't waste your time with them
horrible service, i was supposed to be connected last week tuesday and its still not working. Horrible customer service and not helpful at all ive been on many live chats and a phone call they said it would be fixed the same day that i contacted them and i havent heard anything and it still doesnt work. learn how to do your job. this is a incompetent business do not join electric kiwi worst decision of my life if i could give 0 stars i would.
Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
I made the mistake of moving my number to an eSIM which turned out to be incompatible with my phone. I had to order a physical SIM just to get my number back. It's been over a week since they said it would arrive in the mail this week, it's now Friday. I'll be going a second weekend without a working phone.
The meat of the issue was with communication.
I had to deal with at least 5 different support workers over a chatroom which didn't function properly. I had to repeat myself multiple times even to the same person. I asked simple questions that were given complicated NON answers. I actually felt exhausted by the end of it.
Although a couple of the support workers seemed patient, understanding and with intention to be helpful, the competency of the company's overall service was so bad that I had to write this review.
Electric Kiwi STINKS.... I changed payment method and they charge me for the priviledge - over $4.00. I then went to another company and they charge me another $1.25 for making the final payment. STAY AWAY from this company... Not a Kiwi company to be proud of!!
Just don’t make the mistake of moving your mobile number to kiwi. Worst customer service. No option to cal and have to use chat. I had to go to ombudsman to get my number released from kiwi.
Absolutely terrible customer service, the internet cut out for a week, EK kept charging us but would not help fix the issue. Several people exiting out of the chat line when they couldn't identify the problem.
Electricity prices skyrocketed from one month to the next despite our usage remaining the same or even less. We jumped ship swiftly.
Absolutely rubbish customer service. Nothing gets done even after five times in the line chat and they told me they would do what was asked like changing plans but they do nothing at all. Had power and internet canceled by them because another company said we're with them that was completely wrong so with no communication they canceled. Have had alot of other issues with them, They do anything they can to get more money out of you.
Very poor customer service. I was on a weekly direct debit payment plan. Without notice, they stopped payments. Can't call them as no contact number. I chat with live chat and was told I will get a call within 48 hours.. no call, just an email stating my current bill that had accumulated since they stopped payments. I email them days later, they call me back to say that my meter readings is in the hands of another company which they are waiting to receive. Very very disappointed. Have switched providers..
Worst customer support ever. Constantly getting payment reminders and threatening letters even though I never missed a payment. I tried numerous times to get them to address the issue. Ended up changing companies. Good riddance. Customer service is essential
When the wholesale electricity prices increased recently they told us that as new customers they cant honour the deal they onboarded us with, and suggested a much more expensive deal, effectively passing the problem onto us immediately. A rough way to treat new customers especially given they act as the market social warriors. I recommend against joining with Electric Kiwi to anyone looking to switch Power/Internet services. Add to this that the customer service isnt great and the internet has frequent connectivity issues.
