After seeing what Electric Kiwi was offering it didn't take much to decide to switch companies. It has been easy to decide which plan was best for me and Electric Kiwi then worked their magic.
Electric Kiwi is an electricity company that gives their customers a fair go. I asked on a cheaper plan for my usage and was quickly given options.
Thank you Electric Kiwi:)
Just had an email tonight stating an issue with my account - I owe over $700 because an issue with their payment provider.
I have made payments manually on the app for 5 months - which they are now telling me never came out.
Which is confusing because I’ve never missed a payment, have all my invoices and email notifications stating I have made payments - and that my payments were accepted. And now they are trying to sting me from March - July saying I haven’t made any payments.
Will be changing power companies.
Impossible to get in contact with them - finally got on touch by having to go through utilities dispute.
Excellent service and prompt responses in fulfilling my needs.
RIP OFF! My power is extremely high to the point where I feel like I am being scammed, way higher than my previous bills. I am going back to my original power company, should never have left. Stay away from this company.
DOUBLE what i was paying with Frank energy. Couldn't believe my first bill. Honestly so gutted. The customer service sucks and the billing is direct debit - if you want to pay by card or bank transfer there are extra costs to this. No bank account number to pay direct. After only a fortnight I plan to switch to PowerShop.
There are heaps of negative reviews here but my experience has been weirdly opposite. Great products that have saved me heaps and cool service. I can not recommend more.
Zero stars!!! They are complete scammers.
Overcharged me, said they would send a refund and I'm still waiting and they are refusing to respond
If I could give less than 1 star I would. I wish I saw these reviews before joining. I joined and left only hours later because they were HORRENDOUS. They immediately took a huge amount of money out of my account even though I had only just joined. They don’t have a phone number or a person to talk to so resolving anything with them is impossible. When I left they sent my final bill via email and the due date was 14 days from today. I paid 2/3 of the bill only to then receive an email to say they have direct debited the entire bill amount DESPITE THE BILL ONLY BEING SENT THAT DAY AND IT BEING TEN DAYS BEFORE THE DUE DATE. They are highly incompetent, do not know how to use their own system, and cause significant financial hardship, continuously. The inly way to get in contact with them is via the most useless live chat system ever. I have been waiting in the queue for THREE HOURS and only moved down 80, to now being number 249 in the queue. Disgusting! If it keeps moving this slow I will be waiting for another 9hours before getting to speak with anyone! And even then it isn't speaking with anyone it is typing to someone who has no idea what they’re doing. They’re honestly so awful!!
The customer support is terrible. Expect to wait a long time in the live chat only to be told they are looking into it (they are not) and you get to try all over again the next day.
The worst company i deal with i just sign a contract with them today and they already took money out from my account
Their customer service really really bad not helpful at all they close the chat in the middle of the conversation they don't have any phone to call for help
The worse company i
I switched from Spark to Electric Kiwi no problem. But I had issues with coverage and I didn't like the confusing pricing plan. I decided to switch back to Spark but after 3 days Spark have had issues getting my mobile number released from EK. It's been a nightmare. Think carefully before you switch as the savings might not be as much as advertised.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I strongly advise against doing business with them. They arbitrarily deduct amounts from your account, and their customer service is unhelpful. The agents are arrogant and unprofessional. It was a terrible experience overall. No wonder they have a 1.6-star rating — it's truly shocking.
What has happened Electric Kiwi? When you came on the scene, I thought you were really disrupting the sector and that’s part of the reason I came onboard.
I have had ongoing issues with this company since February 2025 this year. Accusing me of not paying my account when I have actual evidence that it was paid. This back and forth went on and on for weeks. And it’s impossible to actually talk to anyone as it’s all done via app chat (that constantly crashes), or email -which is a frustrating and drawn out process. In the end they threatened (via text and email of course!), to cut my power off, with an actual cut off date. I had no choice but to engage the Utility Disputes people on my behalf. They eventually got it sorted. But tbh it should’ve never got to that stage!!!
AND NOW…
Fast forward a month and the whole drama has begun AGAIN! “You haven’t paid”, blah de blah. After years of loyal patronage of Electric Kiwi, I am on the move.
To bad you can't give .5 cos I'm completely dissatisfied with this company. I asked for someone to call me on the chat page, first time 24th April got a message saying someone would be in contact soon, sent 3 more messages since then with the same answer....but still no one contacts me. Now my power has been cut off.
Absolutely disgusting power company! I changed power companies because it gave me the benefit of having all services under one provider. Within less than two weeks my estimate read just over $166 which I paid In full and within 3 days I got my first bill for $80.08 - how does someone spend over $80 of power in three days! I messaged support services and was told that it's an error and that everything had been fixed. I checked the app and it was reading at $30ish dollars and was happier with this. Via the app I also had set my payments to be deducted every third Tuesday of the month, I checked my account this morning and they have deducted $80.08 from my account this morning. I messaged support services and they had no notes of the previous dealings with me. What a joke a d I don't know why I thought online services meant less hassles. Its more of a headache then a relief. My advice - save yourself a headache and don't sign up with this company.
I made the mistake of thinking Electric kiwi could be trusted with my credit card numbers so it was open slather on deductions with 3 payments being taken from it in April alone totaling $564.11 . Thankfully I cancelled my credit card just before the 4th payment in 5 weeks was attempted and now I am being threatened with debt collectors .
Had I not cancelled my credit card in time they would have extracted a total of $836.00 from my credit card in 5 weeks . This is for electricity only , I did not have any other services from them .
Dont make the same mistake I did by thinking you can trust a power company with your credit card numbers .
Update 4th July : Baycorp are now hounding me for the Electric Kiwi fake debt .
WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING
Stay away from Electric kiwi , 86% of their customers are not happy with them .
Unbelievable service ive been a customer with this company for 4 years just through power hasn't been too bad so i decided to go with their broadband and moblie service, the day my mobile connection started i couldn't use it no service no data could only receive calls and messages put them on notice 4 days after their still trying to fix the problem their charging me for this service and i cant even use it. My broadband connection starts in another month but i have no confidence in this company that it will even work. So seriously thinking about ending the contract before it even starts what a fool i was leaving my old provider i will be giving them one more day to resolve this issue if not im out. One new zealand 5 stars electric kiwi 0 you need to get better electric kiwi or u will lose a lot of customers
I signed up to electric kiwi but didn't complete the number port. Despite that I was charged $100. When I asked for a refund they said it wasn't possible and that I should make a complaint. Avoid this company, they are scammers
Your AI service is not helpful and very very slow. I was on your chat line for 53 minutes and it was not able to answer my query.
I have also previously put in a complaint and was told that someone would get back to me soon. Well 7 days later and I have still not heard a reply.
You are not doing well Electric Kiwi your customer service is pulling you down. I am seriously thinking of changing now.
