When I called the helpline I was extremely anxious I had not spoken about my ordeal to a stranger before and was apprehensive of what it entailed. The man I spoke to (Youssef Anbar) helped me to feel... See more

Do not use this company
Do not use this company, or any third party compensation company for that matter! They are exploiting vulnerable abuse victims for their own gross profit, you can apply for CICA yourself via the government website and gain 100% of the compensation money!!!
I had a very distressing experience with Criminal Injuries 'Helpline', including:
Forced Retraumatisation: The agent Mohamed forced me to repeatedly recount graphic, traumatic details over the phone, despite the fact that I was crying, clearly distressed, and explicitly stated I felt uncomfortable repeating graphic details to him again and again.
Withholding Information: When I asked to see the completed application form before signing the contract, the agent lied and told me that "only he could see or fill out the form," intentionally keeping me in the dark about the simplicity of the CICA portal.
Manufactured Urgency: The agent aggressively demanded that I send photos of my ID and proof of address "today" while I had just been crying and emotionally vulnerable on the call, attempting to lock me into a 35% fee agreement.
Dismissive Conduct: When the agent read back what he had written based on my traumatic disclosure, he had summarised multiple severe offences into just a few words. It became clear he only forced me into graphic details to calculate the financial value of my trauma for corporate commission.
Timeline of Harassment: The agent, Mohamed, has been relentlessly pursuing me since Monday 1st June 2026. When I did not reply to his text messages for several days, he called my phone to badger me for details. During these calls, he forced me to repeat highly distressing information that I had already clearly stated to him on previous occasions.
Online they also claim partnership with women's aid which is highly misleading according to their own website's small-print disclaimers, and intended to make you think to make you think this is an ethical company. It's not. I'm completely disgusted. I have CPTSD, as I'm sure many victim survivors here do, and this experience has really negatively impacted me. This company is actively profiting off vulnerability and abuse, with little regard for how this impacts the victim.

Do it yourself!
Took ages, and when finally reviewed the case after 2 years, it was rejected. On appeal I found out that they hadn’t obtained any supportive information from GP and counselling records which I was then asked to obtain myself and send to them, despite signing a consent form for them to obtain the information 2 years prior. Once I had provided this information the application was successful. I wish I had completed the application myself as sharing 4% of the awarded compensation when I did most of the work was a bitter pill to swallow
Excellent communication throughout

My ex partner went to prison for three years following severe dv, I developed a eating disorder had months off work and had to go through court and therapy, and I’m still within a restraining order and have a exclusion zone as he has been released. I was told because I had dropped a previous charge multiple times (as this is the cycle of abuse and it takes on average 9 times to leave) I was told they couldn’t help and had my call terminated. Nagwa was cold, lacked any emotional care or customer service and Saad was also, horribly cold and didn’t care about anything I was saying. They are dealing with domestic abuse yet don’t even know how it works and how the statistics show???!
They make you recount such traumatic experiences only to put you on hold and tell you it’s not viable or bad. I was not taken seriously and will be looking to pursue this as a complaint not even about the case being taken but just the pure lack of any care on the phone. They don’t care, I’d avoid them at any cost.
