Great experience using CK

Great experience using CK. Was very helpful when I was trying to get a mortgage. Also gives a detailed perspective on how credit reference agencies operate so as to stay on top of borrowing. Always recommend.

Does exactly what it says on the tin

It’s a handy tool to have at your fingertips. Having read some of the other reviews it seems a lot of users don’t understand how CK works and unfairly marked it down.

The only issue I’ve found is the fact that facial recognition doesn’t work and never has but putting a PIN number in isn’t exactly hard to do.

One suggestion would be to look at their own monitor suggestions and then tailor offers around that. For example, “try not to open any more accounts within 6 months” but then constantly hampered with offers for new accounts.

Identity Theft Nightmare After Credit Monitoring Registration – Nearly £5,000 in Fraudulent Credit Card Debt

I joined Credit Karma UK to monitor and improve my credit profile. Shockingly, after registering, two fraudulent credit card accounts were opened in my name with Vanquis and Capital One in same day through identity theft, resulting in nearly £5,000 of alleged debt.
I am deeply concerned that this may involve an organised fraud network, because I never received any of the physical credit cards themselves — only debt collection letters and notices about outstanding balances. This raises serious questions about how the accounts were opened, where the cards were delivered, and how such activity passed verification checks without my knowledge.
My credit reports now show “victim of impersonation” markers, and I am dealing with fraud investigations, debt collection stress, and serious concerns about data security and fraud prevention processes.

I am not directly accusing Credit Karma of causing this, but the timing is extremely alarming. Consumers should be very cautious about sharing sensitive personal and financial data online, even with well-known platforms.

This experience has been deeply stressful and damaging.

Credit Score Agency Conflicted - Incorrect Assumptions

I have tracked in detail all three Credit Rating Agencies over a number of years and in my experience Credit Karma is the worse, both in terms of inaccuracy (e.g. never recognises credit card bills that are paid off within a month, incurring no interest) and constantly pushing loan products / other credit cards that are not required, despite having been advised of this. It is an example of an organisation that is conflicted in how it operates with hypersensitive scoring founded on incorrect assumptions. It is clear that this agency’s real agenda is to sell more loan products (from which the credit agency makes a profit), which is both irresponsible and demonstrates that Credit Karma are conflicted in their selling behaviour. This is an area worthy of further focus by Martin Lewis and an area worthy of further investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Overall good

It is great for keeping an eye on your credit file & highlights any potential issues. 1 downside is the updating of your information - sometimes takes 2-3 months to show changes which can affect your feelgood factor when checking

App great but poor credit score graph

I enjoy using the app. Gives me a lot of useful information and I have used it to open new accounts. However I've dropped it one star as the credit score graph is useless. Whats the point of a graph that only covers a few days. Would be nice to toggle 1m, 6m, 1y, 5y for example. Anything more than 3 days please!

Generally speaking

Generally speaking, its a great app. Its clear to see what's going on with your credit score. Its easy to use. I've been here since it was Noddle! However, a couple of things are 1. It doesn't seem super accurate. 2. It sent me 2 emails this week congratulating me on my score increasing, only for me to look and realise it was exactly the same. I'm not overwhelmed by the service for those reasons. However, my credit has improved generally because thos app shows you everything that's against your name and address, which has proved very helpful when organising my finances. So overall 4/5 for me, good access to your financial history and easy to understand, but lost 1 star for the misinformation emails about my score increase that was never there (happens frequently)

Credit karma scores seem to be…

Credit karma scores seem to be constantly far lower than what my experian score is . My experian score was 999 and credit karma was 601. Experian changed their scoring system and mine was 1230 out of 1250 ,credit karma dropped to 598 for no reason.
These scores also reflect the offers they show with credit karma having higher intrest rates compared to similar on Experian.
My credit card and bank credit scores are all excellent yet credit karma rarely goes above fair.

I would suspect the scoring system is deliberately low to push higher intrest rates on loans and credit cards.
