I have had exactly the same bad experience of being charged an initial £5.95 and then having an unsolicited “subscription” of £39.90 debited without warning or any permission I was aware of. Ba... See more

Another 1 star review, we had £39.90 taken from our account today without permission. I've tried calling them and filling in the online contact form to complain. I've logged in but no account details or settings, no subscription details and no terms and conditions. I'll be calling my bank on Monday and reporting this as fraud activity

I had the same experience as most of the people who have written reviews regarding this company. I purchased a single car check for £5.95 on 17th March 2026. The company tried to take £39.90 from my bank account. The payment was declined as I only use this account for small payments and there were insufficient funds. After reading reviews on Trustpilot I realised I was being charged for a subscription which I did not sign up for. I emailed the company to advise that I did not subscribe and thought this would rectify the situation but the company have again tried to take another payment today of £39.90 (8th April 2026) so from 17th March 2026 they have tried twice to take this payment. I have blocked payments now and advised my bank as to why. Would just like to say to anyone who pays for a single car check - BEWARE - Hp Checkmycar will try and take recurring payments of £39.90 from your account EVEN after advising them that you do not wish to subscribe. Absolutely disgraceful.

Absolute scam artists, ripped me off for £39 a month after I bought a one off car check, clearly small print con artists relying on people not reading hidden terms, AVOID

Absolute scam, I never consented to a monthly subscription, I just checked my credit card statement and found two debits of 39.90. I only checked one car history which I paid 5.90£ for, I never knew I was paying for a subscription, tried to cancel on their website and it says it couldn’t find my email address.

Disgusting, I just done one check on and they charge 39.90£ !!!!!!! Avoid this scammers!!!!!

Avoid these scammers. You pay for a one-off car report then they sign you up to a monthly subscription completely unbeknownst to you. My bank stopped mine luckily but it is attempted theft which I will report.

A SCAM As everybody are saying they make you think it's a 1 of charge to check a cars history £5.95 and then they take only a few days later a £39.90 subscription a total RIP of they are not car vertical which is what we search for it's a big SCAM do mot use them ever

This company is extremely misleading and I strongly advise everyone to stay away.
They advertise a car check service for £5, which looks like a simple one-time payment. However, after paying the £5, they secretly charge an additional £39.99 and automatically sign you up for a monthly subscription without clearly warning you. This is a classic trap designed to take money from people who believe they are only paying £5.
In my opinion, this is a very dishonest and deceptive business practice. Important information about the subscription is either hidden or made deliberately unclear so customers only realize what happened after money has already been taken from their account.
I strongly recommend that nobody uses this service. Always check your bank statements if you have used them and cancel any subscription immediately.
If you have experienced the same thing, please report it and leave reviews so more people become aware of these practices and don’t fall into the same trap.

paid £5.95 for a HPI check on a car - 2 days later they tried taking £39.90 from my bank, no pre warning, no reasoning, just a message from my bank stating that "Checkmycar" tried taking the amount from my account, which my bank stopped, insane, Theive's, dont use them.

Seems I was one of the many. I used the service once. Then found out 10 months later that I'd been having 39.90 taken out each month. I certainly didn't agree to this so it must have been in the small print. Complete scammers. Stay clear.

Don't trust them. There is nothing clear about charges.
I didn't allow for any subscrition and extra charge, they did it automatically after 48 hours. I didn't also receive e-mail confirmation about cost, nothing.
But - FOR YOU ALL - you have got 14 days to request for a full refund and they have to do it. Just sent them e-mail , that the term and condition allow you to request a full refund and you're doing your right.
During 7 working days you will receive money back, as I do.
