Cheap, but you get what you pay for. Customer service seem like they couldn't be bothered to make an effort. I have to send the same query in 3 times before they actually read it and provide a relevant response, and then it's only to fob me off without actually trying to help. I've been banking with them for many years but it's time to find a suitable competitor.

Absolute nightmare dealing with Capitec!
Absolute nightmare dealing with this bank! They have no understanding or concept of urgency or customer service. Been having 5 days of absolute hell trying to get access to my business account since their OTP system failed on Sunday. Unable to pay a deposit for a property purchase which led to the sale falling through. They don't care. Their IT is still investigating why I'm not getting the OTP, really?! No one calls back, their numbers don't work, instead of transferring they cut you off, NO I am done with them. SPARE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

I missed a payment on a loan due to company downsizing spoke to and advisor wandee or wandy who was extremely rude to me showed no empathy when i clearly made arrangements with one of there other advisors as I'm a up to date payer but not working due to the mentioned circumstances. This advisor asks me why i left my job the last time I spoke to her I told her I was on leave which was utter lies and she says that she listened to the previous call so was acting as if i would lie . And put my self into debt for fun when I've being paying all along . I feel she is not at all happy in her job to make some feel more stressed out I feel this advisor is extremely rude and has no way of speaking to customer . Worked in a contact center before and i know that what i had was poor services cant wait to leave capitec after this loan is paid back . This is so frustrating and disappointing

How do you expect people to trust a bank that is not able to prevent theft from accounts then denies that it is possible instead of trying to find the solution?????
A large amount of money was stolen from us. Someone seemed to have hacked our account and stole R11 000 from us. We phoned yesterday and was told that if the money is availble in the other account we could maybe get it back after 60 days.
When I phoned again today I was told that the insident was never logged and it is impossible for someone to steal the money that way.

Capitec bank not recommended for international clients
Some transactions made through Apple Pay with my capitec digital card in Ghana were declined.
To make international transactions one has to email them and it make take over 2 working days to get a response to set up authorisation for international transactions.
As a result I have had to take most of my funds out of this bank to save myself the stress as they have not been contactable when I call them from Ghana. Definitely not recommended for international clients
Do not try to open an investment account
I tried to invest R500000.00 in a fixed deposit account, they gave me incorrect information that I could convert my one saving account to a fixed deposit account. When I tried to deposit the funds into this fixed deposit account via internet banking I could not. I called the bank they could not help, that happened on 22 March 2023. I have sent 4 emails to the bank with no response. I eventually got a reaction after I reported the case to the Bank Ombudsman. However today is the 2 May 2023 and the problem is still not resolved.
My funds have disappeared
Worse bank ever they froze my savings account for a payment I got from my mom and they didn't even communicate this to me I had to use my own money to go up and down visiting their branches and calling to get this issue resolved . I was promised once I give them the necessary documents they will open my account and everything will be back to normal. Guess what they "unblocked" my savings account but I can't receive money not send out money 😭 and the transections they said was the one that got my account blocked the took those funds from that transection and now saying they still investigating and it will take 14-21 days and I haven't gotten any communication from them about this matter as the 21days are over . Please don't use they bank

One of the most fraudulent, deceptive and pathetic banks to have ever existed!
A low "account fee" hides endless and grossly excessive hidden charges - unsuccessful card transaction fee! card replacement fee, fees for prepaid services they already receive commission on. Fees for payment to other capitec customers. Fees for buying a policy through them. In the last month most fees were increased by 33% without notifying customers. Absolute and pure scum and filth!
