Thank you Bethany for a clear explanation of the plan, payment structure and process. Personable on the phone and efficient follow up on email, so a good customer service experience so far.

Same as many others on here say, parts not covered so waste of money.

Should have been suspicious when I first saw their website, looks like a teenager designed it in their bedroom. When viewing on a mobile half the screen is missing and inaccessible; really amateur ish.

Needless to say when my van developed an oil leak in first month of ownership, apparently the parts aren't covered and thus warranty first won't pay a penny.

I'm not a mechanic and shouldn't be expected to read through a parts list to see what's covered. At the end of the day I've purchased a warranty, the vans has an engine issue and it should be repaired or at the very least contributed to.

Not worth the peice of paper its printed on.

My experience with Warranty First was…

UPDATE AFTER COMPANY RESPONSE:

I appreciate Warranty First taking the time to respond publicly to my review, and I also acknowledge again that the staff I initially dealt with were polite and professional during the sign-up process.

However, my concern is not only about the technical policy wording or the rejected repair request.

My biggest concern is the handling of communication after cancellation.

During sign-up and while taking the policy, responses were extremely quick by email and WhatsApp. However, once I decided to cancel within the cooling-off period, the level of communication changed significantly. I repeatedly had to chase for formal written confirmation that the policy had actually been cancelled.

Even now, I still have not received a proper cancellation confirmation document confirming:
• the policy has been fully terminated
• the agreement is closed
• no further obligations remain

I was also told that the finance agreement is handled separately by Bumper. While I understand they are a separate company legally, from a customer perspective Warranty First introduced and arranged the monthly payment setup as part of the policy process. Therefore, I do not believe it is unreasonable to expect clearer guidance and confirmation regarding the cancellation of linked monthly payment arrangements.

My concern is not about trying to avoid the policy terms. I fully accept that the repair request was assessed according to the wording provided. My concern is about the overall customer experience once cancellation was requested.

For any finance-linked contract, customers should receive prompt written confirmation after cancellation without having to repeatedly chase by email or WhatsApp. In my opinion, this is a basic part of professional after-sales service and customer reassurance.

I still believe customers with higher mileage or semi-automatic vehicles should ask extremely detailed questions before relying on this type of cover, especially around gearbox systems, DSG/mechatronic components, wear-related limitations and technical component distinctions.

This update simply reflects my honest experience throughout the full process, from sign-up through to cancellation.

Review -
My experience with Warranty First was mixed, and I think it’s important for customers with higher mileage or semi-automatic vehicles to fully understand what they are signing up for before taking a policy.

The initial sign-up process was very good. The agent I dealt with was polite, professional and responsive. All documents were sent quickly, questions were answered, and the setup process felt smooth and reassuring.

However, things became much more complicated when I actually needed to make a repair request.

As a normal customer, the policy wording can be very difficult to interpret in real-world situations. Certain terms in the booklet appear broad, but once a garage diagnosis is completed, the distinction between covered and non-covered components becomes extremely technical.

In my case, the repair was declined because the diagnosed component was an auxiliary belt tensioner, which was not covered under my plan. I later also discovered that DSG/semi-automatic gearbox systems, mechatronic units and related transmission components were not covered either.

I understand Warranty First assessed the claim based on the wording of the policy, but this experience showed me how important it is to ask very specific questions about your exact vehicle, gearbox type and common failure points before relying on the cover.

Another concern for me was communication after cancellation. During sign-up, responses were very fast. But once I requested cancellation within the cooling-off period, responses became noticeably slower, and I had to repeatedly ask for formal written confirmation of cancellation and confirmation that the linked monthly payment agreement had also been cancelled.

For a finance-linked contract, customers should automatically receive clear written confirmation once a policy is cancelled.

My advice to others:
Read every detail carefully, ask specific technical questions, and don’t assume that general wording means every related component is covered.

For my own situation and vehicle usage, I decided the policy was not the right fit.

Thank you for your review, in the interest of fairness we would like to respond to your comments.

Our plans are designed to be as transparent as possible, and under each plan, the parts considered are listed, where a part s not listed then regretfully it would not be considered, as was the case with your repair request.

When a plan is applied for, we send you, the plan documents and ask you read these carefully to ensure the plan meets your needs, and in the event you have any queries to contact us.

We note that the plan and finance agreement has since been cancelled, and this should have been confirmed to you. In respect of the finance agreement, confirmation of this cancellation should be sent from the provider, as they are a separate business to us.

Chantelle 10/10

I would like to give Chantelle especially 5 stars for the help she has given me today. She called me to help me set up my new years warranty and she took the time out of her day to be personable and extremely friendly which is such a breathe of fresh air considering a lot of calls are very transactional. She was very patient with me as I had a 10 month running round and she had to call me back but 10/10 service. Thanks again Chantelle

Our Premier plan, lists specifically the parts we consider for mechanical or electrical failure, where parts are not listed then regretfully, they are not considered. In relation to your repair request, the part needed was not listed within the plan, and this is why we have been unable to assist.

We appreciate your disappointment in the outcome of the repair request, but can advise it was reviewed in accordance with the plan held and the terms and conditions.

I bought a used van with a 6month warranty. Unfortunately there has been a number of issues but Warranty first have covered them all (minus a small labour charge).
Now it has come time to renew my policy. Ruby rang me back at a time convenient for myself, listened to my questions and explained everything perfectly. Thank you so much 😊

Paid for protection, received excuses”

I am extremely disappointed with the way Warranty First and especially their representative have handled my case over the past year.

I purchased a warranty policy in good faith for my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2020 Exceed (Policy WF238342/1 / U4HLAYYA004050796), expecting support when a genuine mechanical issue occurred. Instead, I have experienced delays, denials, poor communication and complete lack of customer care.

The original issue started with dangerous exhaust fumes entering the cabin of the vehicle, especially while stationary or when using the heating system. This was not a minor inconvenience — it was a serious safety concern affecting myself and my family.

The vehicle was inspected and repaired after diagnostic investigations identified issues around the exhaust to CAT seal fitting kit. Following instructions given by Warranty First, I paid for the repair upfront myself, with the understanding that reimbursement would follow once the claim was processed.

However, despite providing invoices, diagnostic reports, repair evidence and full cooperation throughout the process, the claim was denied.

What makes this worse is that personally handled much of the communication and repeatedly dismissed the evidence presented. Even after the vehicle had already undergone repairs and there was clear documentation from the workshop, Warranty First still refused to take proper responsibility.

The matter became so serious that I had no option but to escalate the dispute to The Motor Ombudsman (Case Number 00327504), where the complaint remains under review. The Ombudsman confirmed receipt of all documentation submitted regarding the failure of Warranty First to properly deal with the claim.

To make matters worse, on 6 May 2026 my vehicle was stolen in London and while dealing with the insurance process and the financial stress caused by losing the car, I contacted Warranty First regarding cancellation and reimbursement matters related to the unused warranty period.

The response I received yesterday was once again cold, dismissive and entirely lacking empathy or professionalism. Instead of showing understanding toward a long-standing customer already involved in an Ombudsman dispute with them, the attitude remained defensive and focused only on refusing responsibility.

At no point have I felt valued as a customer.

I strongly advise anybody considering purchasing a warranty from Warranty First to carefully read other customer experiences before trusting this company. My experience has been exhausting, stressful and financially damaging.

A warranty should provide peace of mind when genuine mechanical problems happen. In my case, it provided the exact opposite.

Warranty First have now responded confirming they will not reimburse the repair and will also not provide any proportional refund for the unused warranty.

Their latest position is that any refund should be discussed with the selling dealer, while at the same time confirming they would not refund the dealer either because the request is outside 14 days.

This completely misses the point of the complaint.

The issue is not simply cancelling a warranty — the issue is that the warranty failed to provide meaningful assistance when a genuine mechanical problem involving exhaust fumes entering the vehicle cabin occurred.

A warranty only proves its value when you actually need to use it. Sadly, my experience has been delays, rejected responsibility, and refusal of support despite documented repairs and evidence.

The matter remains under formal dispute with The Motor Ombudsman.

Thank you for your response.

I will now allow The Motor Ombudsman to review the full case independently, including all emails, repair invoices, diagnostic evidence and the instructions I was given to pay upfront before requesting reimbursement.

My concern remains that an active warranty did not provide effective support for a serious issue involving exhaust fumes entering the vehicle cabin, affecting the safe use of the car.

While the warranty may have been arranged through the supplying dealership, it was fully paid for by myself as part of the vehicle purchase. I initially financed part of the vehicle but settled the finance completely only a few months later, meaning the warranty was ultimately paid by me, not by the dealership.

I also note that Warranty First confirms the warranty was supplied through the dealership while at the same time declining responsibility for any discussion regarding a refund.

At this stage, I believe the evidence will speak for itself and I look forward to the Ombudsman’s conclusion.

Thank you for your review.

As your complaint regarding the repair outcome is now with The Motor Ombudsman, we will liaise with them in respect of this matter.

In regards to your cancellation request, whilst we are sorry to hear your vehicle has been stolen, the cancellation terms are noted within the plan. Further to this, as you have not paid Warranty First directly for the plan and this was purchased via a supplying dealership, any refunds would be at their discretion and would usually need to be discussed with them, however, as your plan has been active for over a year, a refund would be unlikely.

It should be noted that whilst you have an open complaint with The Motor Ombudsman, this does not change how each subsequent request you make is reviewed by us, and the plan is administered in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Mr David G Ford Transit custom 🏍️🏁

April & May 2026 They give me plenty of call backs to remind me it was time to speak to the agents especially Aiden who personally gave me a direct contact details on what's app or phone & email to get straight in touch with him rather than waiting in a call queue & on 6th May 2026 He was very helpful & tailored the warranty to my van needs explaining in detail what I'm covered for in the warranty first policy
He sent all the information over Via email pointed out the sections that applied in the warranty booklet. To give me time read all the renewal details, & then Gave me a call back exactly on the time we agreed on at teatime about the individual pricing parts of the warranty. Looked after me with been a loyal customer & price was very fair for the two years of cover. Very personalised renewal process, taking time with phone conversation excellent Agent , I would certainly agree Aidan & other colleagues at warranty first get a nice thank you for the great customer service. Possibly get a hamper or vouchers for doing a fabulous job for Warranty First 🥇🏆🎉

They good until something goes wrong

They were very friendly and helpful when I took out the policy. 6 months down the line lost my job and wanted to cancel, even if it comes with a fee. Turns out you cannot cancel. I felt they are just as corporate as many other organisations, I wish I wasnt in the situation to must cancel everything until I find a new job. Don't even use the car anymore but still pay £51 a month for warranty.

Unfortunately, as your request to cancel the plan was well outside of the 14 day cooling off period, cancellations are not possible, and the payments would need to be continued until the end of the agreed period.

The plan will continue to provide cover until expiry.
