Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Extortionate out of hours fees

Our cat was unfortunate enough to fall ill on New Year’s Eve in the afternoon, and the out of hours charge is £330, which is nothing short of extortion and totally outrageous. We were also there for 4 hours in total, most of it waiting around for something to happen like in an A and E. Our cat eventually had blood tests and an ultrasound and an injection- total cost £700. I don’t see how they can justify the wait times ( NOT many other customers there at the time) or the cost. The vet who treated her was lovely, knowledgable and very helpful, but the rest of the service was pretty poor. To add insult to injury they charge £25 to complete your insurance claim form.

Hi Christina, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. If you’d like to read more about our running costs, prices and where our profits go, please visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/

Excellent service.

Had to make an out of hours call as I returned home to find that my normally very well behaved dog had eaten a load of chocolate that we had inadvertently left within his reach. The team were very understanding and compassionate. I was quickly sent clear directions to the surgery and the service was wxcellent; I felt my dog was been very well looked after and I was kept informed of what was going to happen and what would happen next. I was informed very quickly of the likely cost.
Thankfully my dog was treated in good time and suffered no ill effects. The most expensive chocolates I've ever bought!!

Great service but overpriced drugs.

Great service and understand the high consultancy charges as it’s an out of hours service, but charging £105 for an injection where the injection itself costs around £10 is daylight robbery. £459 for an injection and a 20 min wait for the dog to be sick.

Excellent treatment

Had to take my seriously unwell dog in to the Tunbridge Wells surgery on Saturday which sadly led to her being put to sleep on Sunday. The vets now team were so caring and compassionate and kept me informed every step of the way. They then took paw prints and kept a lock of hair for me. They also sent me a condolences card with a pack of forget me not seeds which was the sweetest touch. Could not recommend them more!

This experience is a total rip off

This experience is a total rip off. £318 just to see a vet before any meds are given and high pressure sales tactics from the guy answering the phone to try to guilt you into setting up an appointment, as if you weren't stressed enough already. The vet was nice and v thorough, but there was no sense of urgency and everything, particularly at reception happened at a glacial pace, which is quite stressful when you have a very sick dog that you need to take home. There are then more high pressure sales tactics to use them to coordinate with your insurance company which naturally involves a huge admin fee when you can perfectly well do it yourself. They've got you over a barrel because if your pet is sick out of hours, then you need to go to a vet, but their costs are astronomical. Rip off merchants more concerned with making money than ensuring that sick animals with financially challenged owners can access emergency vet care.

Our kitten Willow was only 13 weeks old when she was rushed to vets now early one morning. Unfortunately she was very weak and we were too late for her to be saved.
Vets now were amazing, so kind and made a very sad day more bearable.
I would highly recommend them thank you.

Non Existent Communication

I was advised to take Quincy to Vets Now for overnight care. On arrival at approx. 6.30 pm, although the staff were very pleasant, the first thing I was asked was have you got insurance and you need to pay £250.00. Quincy seemed to be secondary! I passed over the medication/cannula from my vet and I was told that someone would phone me at 10 am the next day after Quincy had been assessed over night. The phone call never came and at approx 2pm I phoned again to find out how Quincy was and if I could bring him home. I was told that the night vet would assess him when he came in at 7 pm and would let me know if he could come home. At 8 pm, and no phone call, I was getting concerned as I had a 20 mile drive on very narrow country lanes to pick him up, I am 78 years old, and my husband was away. My husband tried to phone Vets Now six times from Greece without success. I eventually got in touch with them at approx 9pm and the receptionist said ‘Quincy is much better now, you can take him home’. I said I can’t come at this time of night. She said if you don’t take him home tonight you will have to pick him up by 8.30 in the morning. I had to ask my brother to drive me over to Tunbridge Wells to pick him up. When I got over there I was asked to pay another £448.70 and make an appointment to see my vet the next day. I eventually got home at 11.45pm.
I DID NOT RECEIVE ONE PHONE CALL FROM VETS NOW.
