Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful the prices are very high. I as charged £300 for emergency which I expected, I followed there advice and went back to my vet first thing in the morning and my pet needed further after hours care, so I was charged another £300 before we started….. 28 hour support for my dog on fluids was £2000

The team were absolutely fantastic, our Teddy came in critically ill on Sunday night and they did everything they could and acted so quickly which made all the difference to him. They explained everything clearly to us every step of the way and we left given all the advice we needed to care for him. He’s now making a wonderful recovery thank you for doing your best for our little lad 🩷

Vet Elise was so lovely with my dog. Her manner was kind and gentle. She kept me fully informed during my dogs overnight stay. Lovely lady. Thank you…

I am only writing this review now because it has taken me this long to find the strength to revisit the painful memory of how we were treated.
In October 2024, I brought my dog to Vets Now at 3:00 a.m. She had been crying and restless all night. I knew deep down that something was seriously wrong with her, and the insurance vet I spoke with during back-to-back consultations overnight agreed entirely. They also knew something was wrong with her, which is why they explicitly advised me to go to an emergency vet to get her medication.
Instead of receiving help or compassion, I was met with an emergency vet who dismissively claimed my dog’s issues were just "behavioural" and told me I was being "excessively emotional". The consultation ended with the vet literally storming out of the room. She prescribed absolutely nothing to help my suffering dog, yet I was still charged £300 for the privilege of being insulted.
Tragically, I lost my dog a couple of months later to Histiocytic sarcoma (cancer). She had good days and bad days after that night, but she never recovered.
To be dismissed so cruelly when looking for emergency help is unforgivable. Both I and the insurance vet knew she was in distress, yet Vets Now treated me with utter contempt during one of the most stressful nights of my life. I want to make that clear to anyone considering bringing their pet here.

The staff were incredible. So caring and kind. We were very concerned for our lovely ol' girl, and they made sure she was comfortable and safe, and they were so kind.
The vets and all the support staff talked us through everything and ensured Doris was well looked after. She is doing well as a result.

We are absolutely disgusted by our experience with Vets Now Swansea.
Our Shih Tzu, Maddie, had been seriously ill with pancreatitis and was under out-of-hours care through Vets Now. In the week before she was put to sleep, we requested a copy of the bill for our Petplan claim and discovered multiple duplicate charges, including items that had been double billed and even triple billed. We had to raise a complaint before this was corrected.
But the worst part came on the day Maddie was euthanised.
After we made the heartbreaking decision to let her go, the vet took Maddie to carry out the procedure and then returned to the room, closed the door, and gently explained that she had passed peacefully. Less than two minutes later, while we were both crying and completely broken, we could see a woman at the window in the door repeatedly trying to get in. She tried the door more than once while the vet was still speaking to us. The vet then had to open the door.
She came into the room already holding a card machine and said, “I know this is not a good time, but no time is better than now.”
We had literally just been told our dog was gone.
To watch someone repeatedly trying to gain entry to the room while we were in that state, and then be confronted for payment the moment the door was opened, was unbelievably cold, intrusive and upsetting. Even the vet appeared taken aback. We were left in total shock.
To make it even worse, around a month later we then received another demand for payment for that same visit, meaning we were forced to relive the whole thing again over a bill that had already been paid.
The vet who dealt with Maddie’s final moments was compassionate. Our complaint is about the disgraceful handling of billing and the complete lack of sensitivity shown to us at one of the worst moments of our lives.
We have not written this review until now because it has been too upsetting to relive.
No grieving family should ever be treated like this.

Everything was straight forward, easily explained over the phone what was happening and how we would be kept informed. We received a call late in the evening just to give us an update on how our pet was doing.

My little dog was in difficulty with her passing her stool, so contacted you for help. You attended to her problem immediately thanks to the vet and her staff, thankfully my insurance paid my bill because it was expensive!

Just come back home with our dog. Vets now have been amazing! They were so thorough, kept us updated anc have referred us to a specialist for him. Whilst he is not out of the woods we are so grateful and so impressed with all of the treatment/testing we’ve had. Our vet was Lorna and she was amazing, these are people who care as much as you do about your pet and you can trust them with your pet.

Oh what a dreadful day I had ahead facingy dog being very poorly I had honestly lost all hope in her getting treated and recovering but my lost hope was short lived after our visit to the vets, we were taken straight through and my pet was treated immediately, I was kept up to date and fully informed on all treatment plans etc and my views were respected, for such a worrying eexperience I had complete faith and trust in the vets I would highly recommend to anyone and to all I know I truly am very grateful😊
