Provence, France

I found the stuff from when I arrived very helpful and thoughtful helping me set up English navigation in the car without me asking great correspondence for bringing the car back dropping a pin helpful and when arrived to check of the car was great guys very polite I can’t speak for everywhere but in Provence France they were great

Best ever key pickup

Online (app) made picking up the keys from Girona airport on a busy Saturday lunchtime an absolute delight, best ever key collection. No queues straight to a locker with a QR code to get the keys, app shows you round the car for any dints etc and away you go. Coming back equally easy with a real human to help you out.

Cannot fault at all

Easy process when booking. Had a few queries prior to booking which were addressed promptly.
Arrived for the rental collection and was given an upgrade so had my first experience driving a Hybrid. Car performed admirably in the over 2000km driving through Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and back into Croatia for drop off. Agent waiting for me at the drop off location, helpful and friendly, as we're agents at pickup

Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed by SIXT

Hi

RENTAL AGREEMENT 961185632

I rang you to advise the following charge of 44.45 euro is incorrect

I returned the car in due time and I do not understand why you have charged me “ Out of hours fee” when ai returned the car earlier that what ai should have returned it at.

I have spoken to a lady in UK and she put me through to the team in Hungary.
They advised they charged me as I collected the car at 12.16 at night instead of 11.30.

Please note the plane had delays and they in Hungary airport you only had 2 booths checking the British passports which delayed us for more than an hour.

I have spoken to the lady in Hungary and advised I’m going to complain about this charge because :

1.

- this is not a visible charge when I looked at terms and conditions
- there is no way in knowing due to the changes in passport control how long this would take , I had allocated time for it but even so it took way too long
- Hungary airport should be charged for such charges, as they created the delay

2.

- the lady who served us confirmed she worked this shift, so this is not that she worked overtime
- also she has not said at any point that there will be a charge cor picking up the car later
- she hS not verbally advised this is the case and so this comes as a complete surprise to us
- i now have to waste time to call two different locations and to tty to get the the bottom of this, when it did not even show as a valid charge on your system, and the first lady I spoke to had no idea what this was for
- and I also had no idea because this is not mentioned at all when we collected the car

Please refund me the fee. It is not business like practice not to specify if there are additional charges.

I will leave a very bad review for Sixt since you are not displaying the charge after 12 in at night clearly and so since this is not common practice for car rentals. and your staff did not mention anything about it when we collected the car.

Extremely disappointed with this, I thought Sixt was a goos rental company.

AVOID

AVOID. Assume they will rip you off. They hit me with two additional charges, and when I queried them (each taking over 20 minutes) they couldn't say why. They promised to look into it and get back, but after three days, still no word, but the charges remain. Then they tried to claim I scratched a wheel. Luckily I took a detailed video so I was able to contest it, but it was a total faff, and wasted over an hour of my time. Mt advice: go over the car with a fine toothcomb, photo/video the whole car and especially anything that could be a scratch etc they could charge you for. Don't pick it up out of hours. Despicable customer service. Appalling company.

We didn't see any damage on the car…

We didn't see any damage on the car when we collected it but were looking at the sides for scratches. The car wasn't the cleanest when we collected it. We dropped the car off today, gave a glowing review but have been contacted to say there is a scratch on the bonnet, down to the primer which we can not understand how it could have happened on our watch, especially as it is horizontal down the bonnet, so there is no way it could have been done whilst driving along. If you use this company take lots of photos of the whole car, yes you might feel you are going overboard but protect yourself. We have used SIXT for years. Not anymore, it is their word against ours as we have no proof it was there when we collected it.

The best service at Alicante Airport

The service I experienced at Alicante airport was faultless. Vehicle pre-booked, no queues at reception and then great advice given by Juan Jose as to a better hire solution to fit in all our luggage and race bike. Pick up was just as simple just across a walkway in to the multi storey. The vehicle was immaculate and served its purpose to perfection.

Awful cusrtomer service

Sixt have taken an additional payment on my credit card without warning and for no reason (I had made no rentals recently). I have spent an endless amount of time during two phone calls including sending as requested a screenshot of the transaction made (twice) and absolutely no response or refund. Frankly the people at customers service (once I got through the bots) were utterly useless and seemed totally incompetent and useless. I am now going through the hassle of claiming bank with my back. I note I am not the only one who has had this issue and will not be using Sixt EVER again - apart from anything the customer service is appalling and dismissive

Fraudulent card deduction

Avoid SIXT, or at least SIXT Alicante, unless you want unauthorised charges taken from your account. I thought using a supposedly reputable company would be hassle free. Not the case. I explained on pick up that I had my own third party insurance and showed them a copy on pick up. They said that was fine but warned me that I was liable in the event of damage which of course I accepted. The contract came with a location fee that I agreed too as well. After returning the car they charged me for 6 days of insurance that I had declined and also increased for reasons best known to them, the location fee even though the location had not changed. Furthermore the car stank of cigarette smoke but being late at night I did not have time to go and request a change of vehicle given our flight had been delayed. I called SIXT and they agreed to refund as a gesture of goodwill c.50% of the additional charges but I am still out of pocket about 130 Euros. I reported this as fraud to my bank but given the hoops and paperwork I had to complete I decided against claiming as it would take up hours of time, and had to instead accept that SIXT can steal money at free will. I struggle to think of an occasion when I have received customer service this poor! Beware!

Refuelling charge

Refuelling charge. I returned my van with half a tank of petrol to CDG airport in Paris as I was running late for my flight I didn’t have time to refill. I paid the ‘refueling service fee’ of E30 to fill the tank up at regular fuel prices not punitive prices. The cost charged by Sixt for refuelling half a tank was about 230 Euros. 140 in petrol, 22 refuelling fee, 17% location tax and 20% (French) VAT on top. Would have been about E80 had I managed to find a garage. What an absolute rip off

Pick up was quick and pleasant

Pick up was quick and pleasant. The vehicle was in excellent condition and staff were very helpful in changing the language on the screen and linking phone for navigation. Return was efficient and easy. Really an excellent experience. Nothing to fault

Excellent Service In Argostoli

We had excellent service from the SIXT staff at Argostoli Ariport in Kefalonia, both on collecting the car and delivering it back. The staff were very well presented, extremely efficient and polite. It was the best experience I have had in all the years I have been hiring cars abroad.

Got charged 300 quid for a premium…

Got charged 300 quid for a premium package which I did not agree to at zadar airport Croatia, also didn't get the vehicle I asked for on the app tried to contact support was on hold for 30 mins and was no sign of answering even tho meant be 24/7. Also got the deposit money back two days before I even get the vehicle back which confused me and didn't realise till I contacted my bank account will not be using them again
