Great Experience in Scotland
Hired the car in Scotland for 5 days . Received a 2026 model latest car for the trip.Well clean and maintained.The key collection and documents verification was really smooth.Good and professional staffs were at the premises of pick up and drop off.This is my second time choosing SIXT and both were absolutely amazing.

Forced to Pay 900 Euros for Damage I Didn't Do.
I rented a car for a day in France and was pressured into buying snow tyre add-ons, which were unnecessary. I wasn't going to use it much, so I decided not to get insurance. I left the car without damage where I was told to drop it off in a small bay spot. Fast forward two months, and they forced me to pay 900 euros in damages I didn't do to the car, which was clearly caused by whichever car was parked behind when they pulled out. The damage was sufficient that I would have felt it when driving had I caused it. I didn't think it was necessary to take photos of the car after it had safely been dropped off in a space used by the company, but here we are. I asked for CCTV footage and a time stamp from the company of the photos showing the damage but never got a reply. Two lessons learnt, one, these companies are scavengers and will fleece you if given the opportunity, and two, the French are awful at driving.
Beware of Additional Charges
Hire car was excellent and beyond expectations.
On the day of return I was invited to take the Refuelling Service and the payment was taken from my bank account.
Upon returning the vehicle I was asked to pay for the used fuel as there was no record of my payment on their system.
When I showed the payment from my back account and my Sixt App showing Refuelling Service as an add-on, the receptionist assured me the that everything was fine and no payment was due.
Three days later I received an invoice from Sixt for the fuel along with other items totalling approximately €113.
All my attempts to contact Sixt and resolve the problems have failed.
Always check online for a better deal
I thought I had made a reservation before arriving at Terminal 4 Heathrow, however, when I got there, it was made clear to me that my reservation hadn't gone through because of a credit card issue. I had no choice but try and re-book. The assistant, whose name, he said, was Ali gave me a quote for the vehicle that I wanted and it was significantly more expensive so I went online to see if it the price could be cheaper. Ali then offered to match the online rate and claimed he was doing me a favour. I asked why the he didn't offer the rate from the start then he got abusive. I wanted a car for 21 days but left the terminal without hiring a vehicle. I have never experienced such rude behaviour in a service industry.
Awful experience
Awful experience. Ruined our holiday. Sixt in Palma airport.
No one to go through our car rental with when we returned. Told to leave keys in a box, no staff available to walk through the car for damage. Claimed we left a deep mark (nothing there when we left the car) and asked to pay €500 for a new bumper.
Disgusting service. Avoid this company at all costs.

I checked with Sixt I was told a 50% refund would be given- I wasnt given this. I put an official complaint in was promised a reply. None given. An email saying they're looking into it still no resolve or correspondence from them. But Have received an invoice with wrong dates from them poor service poor attitude and misinformed on several issues avoid××××update×××× emailed Sixt again asking for an update still no reply 😢

Sixt Hamburg Airport – Helpful Until It Went Wrong
The actual rental experience was excellent. The car was clean, the airport staff were friendly, and the app worked without a hitch. I would have given five stars had it ended there.
Unfortunately I made the mistake of locking my bag in the boot before dropping the key in the safe. Realising within minutes, I called Sixt four times for help while trying to catch an international train. What followed was a complete failure of customer service.
I was told the branch was open when it was not, today being a public holiday in Germany. Fair enough, but there was no backup process and no out of hours support whatsoever. Across four calls I was variously told to fill in a web form and wait for a response, to go to the office where someone would help me, and that the office was open 24 hours. None of this was true or useful. On my third call, when I asked to make a formal complaint, the agent simply said no and hung up.
On the advice of staff I booked a hotel room for the night in Hamburg, a complete waste of money, because a member of Sixt staff only called me back after I left a note on the car.
The rental itself was great. The support when something went wrong was non-existent. The cost cutting has gone too far. Do not trust them to be there if you need help.
Best of the car rental companies
We wanted a car to travel around Florida for 11 days.
I checked what the other companies were offering and Sixt gave the best prices and choice.
Their communication was thorough and helpful.
When I picked up the car I saw Jesse who went the extra mile to make sure I had the best car possible for my needs.
I originally chose a BMW 5 series but he gave me such a good deal on a BMW X1 M series that I went with that instead.
The car was virtually brand new and had only done 1900 miles and was very economical, quiet and fun.
On return to the airport, the drop off was seam free and the chap knew who I was, you just handed him the keys and that was it.
All in all, the experience couldn’t have gone better and was very impressive all round.
I rented a vehicle from Liverpool…
I rented a vehicle from Liverpool Airport branch. I simply drove home about 90 miles and returned a few days later.
After the rental, Sixt have sent a bill to me for damage to the vehicle. Apparently there was graffiti/vandalism to both headlights. The photos they took show adhesive residue from headlamp beam correction stickers that people use when driving on the continent.
Clearly, the mileage I covered was nowhere near enough to require headlight beam correction stickers, which I explained, but they still are trying to bill me for ‘damage’.
The engineers report states that panel wipe would be needed to remove the ‘residue’ and charged £65 for labour & £10 for materials. Sixt wish to charge a further £50 admin fee totalling £125 for damage that I did not cause.
Be extremely careful when using Sixt and do not take their staff at their word. When I collected my car I was told there was no damage as it was basically a new car. BEWARE!!!

Before I booked i have called the customer service if can rent the car since I had points ..because I don't want any surprises when I went to pick up the car .. spent hours by train and bus to pick up the car . Ended refused to handover the car .. said the system will allow the since I failed by the same reason.. I have called then and confirmed.. they wasted my time , my options and callaped my day .. not only missed very important appointments that cost me thousands...
They should not promise if they can't honor it .. ist very very sad..

dreadful - do not use this company
We booked a van a week ago and 24 hours before we were meant to pick up we were emailed with an excuse the van had been put in for an MOT and could no longer be hired. A whole chain of people were relying on that van to pick up and collect a king size bed. Disgusting customer service - DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Booking online with Sixt was really easy. I had to make a change to the date, not a problem. We found the pick up in Southampton, UK. The young woman helping us was efficient and made sure every part was clear. The car we ended up with was bigger than I originally anticipated but it was lovely to drive and coped with the narrow streets and other challenges beautifully. Could put that down to my great driving but who knows. We had the car for 13 days and drove 690miles. It was a hybrid, which in this current fuel climate, was great. We returned our car (christened Vivian) back to Heathrow. The instructions for return were emailed to me in advance and worked really well with my navigator issuing instructions. Drop off was really easy with a staff member there to receive and check the car. I still took a video of the car, just in case. Everything worked really well.
Stay away from these con artists
Stay away from these con artists. They charged us for a pre-existing 'scratch' which was fully documented and photographed at pick up, to the tune of CDN 1632.12. We're still fighting it.

Don’t use this company. Shocking company. They charged us so much for a problem that wasn’t our fault. There was small damage that wasn’t us. They obviously were waiting for us to charge someone. I wouldn’t use this company.
