Hassle free insurance claim on behalf of my aging father. It took a while but a suitable payment was made. They also offered a friendly and professional service.

We had a burst pipe and no water after having to turn it off at the mains. Sedgwick arrived promptly and the plumber did a great job. Can't ask any more, thank you.

I was kept informed as to time scale of when someone would be coming to sort the problem. Dyno Rod came located where the problem was and explained what he was going to do. He was courteous and friendly. No complaints from me

Dealing with this company has been a breeze in a time of need. From making the unfortunate claim of escape of water from flat above to closing the claim, my claims handler Paul Taylor was polite, informative and attentive throughout and made an otherwise overwhelming situation better. I cannot recommend highly enough.

It’s 6 months since we had a sewage flood, it’s a category 3 blackwater flood & should be treated immediately according to everyone official. Despite apologies from the insurers & Sedgwicks our home continues to deteriorate. Today we got an offer from them which is *less* than the offer Intact Insurance were going to make us initially after they sent a building surveyor around, we assume it’s the incompetent Ellipta Ltd again. It was before Sedgwicks was involved but the offer was turned down by Gill & Jo at Allied Universal (we knew nothing about it) as they said it was inadequate & wasn’t enough to cover the costs of the extensive repairs we need as they’re only authorised to pay up to £20,000
So Intact got Sedgwicks got involved on the 23rd Jan. They sent a horrendous adjustor around who sabotaged our claim after I said I’d be complaining about him. He denied us reasonable adjustments not to discuss ripping our house apart in front of my vulnerable husband who’d just come out of hospital after a stroke & who went into shock hearing about all the destruction for the repairs. They installed a broken dehumidifier which flooded causing even more damage & could have caused an electrical fire. More of our belongings continue to get mouldy & ruined all the time & have to be thrown out yet they’re offering us even less money than was turned down by another company working for Intact despite the extra damage they actually caused!
Sedgwicks breached the Equalities Act 2010 by denying us reasonable adjustments at the 1st visit & they’re doing it again now by offering us less than half of what 2 established building contractors quoted for, saying they won’t offer more unless another building surveyor from Ellipta Ltd (look them up, they’re well known for underpricing especially when involved with Sedgwicks and Intact) comes in to see the damage which is effectively going against the Equalities Act again by prejudicing our claim because I can’t attend as my husband is being treated for 2 strokes & is in hospital the other side of the country so this feels very much like blackmail. They’ve already had 3 lots of people in to see the house, 2 of which were completely inefficient, accepted by Intact themselves.
They implied that I’m not complying by not leaving my husband & driving 6 hrs to meet another surveyor under their terms which states “or an independent loss adjuster or another expert whose aim is to help us agree on a fair settlement with you” which I would have thought would include 2 established buildings constructors who quoted within a thousand of each other for extensive works. Weirdly they aren’t questioning the kitchen quotes, just the builders so it’s clearly just a costs exercise. Both builders have infinitely better reviews than Sedgwicks & Ellipta Ltd who just seem to do what Sedgwicks tell them & clearly aren’t independant at all.
The financial ombudsman has found in our favour & that’s only on the 1st complaint. There is a 2nd in place awaiting a final response which the same ombudsman has said he’ll take control of & after today there will be a 3rd complaint.
I refuse to leave my husband after 2 strokes, 1 of which happened after they told us the quotes we got didn’t match the faulty schedule they were still working to which has 21 faults on it so I blame Sedgwicks for his 2nd stroke. We’d been promised that they would settle after getting the quotes but they moved the goalposts once they got them in. The original schedule was done out of spite as the loss adjustor was awful (he came at the same time as a remediation man who was nice) & caused my husband to have a seizure later that night & my BP went to 180/109 which I showed them, thankfully there was a witness to how awful he was.
They’ve had regular multiple photos & videos of the continuing damage in the house supplied kindly by our neighbours. We continue to lose more precious items to mould & despite them finally agreeing to replace our kitchen which they should have done at the outset as no one should have to cook in a kitchen that’s been flooded by sewage, it’s disgusting, the payment they’re proposing for the rest of the repairs is less than the initial offer from Intact despite them causing more damage by installing an illegal & dangerous machine which breaches Building regs under the Housing Act, as does leaving a sewage flood 6 months unrepaired. Anything that’s absorbed sewage needs to be replaced not repaired. The adjustor wanted to paint over the sewage stains & only allowed 2 sq ft of plasterboard to be replaced when it’s most of the downstairs ceiling meaning our family would have been exposed to toxic gases and an insanitary kitchen.
I don’t trust Sedgwicks anymore. We will be consulting a solicitor and our own building surveyor & taking this to the Media. People should know.
Outstanding Continued Support – Truly Exceptional Service
Following the devastating water pipe incident at our property, our insurer, Privilege, initially appointed David from Sedgwick to assess the damage. Once the claim was approved, Sedgwick took full responsibility for managing the entire process — and from that point onwards, Jeanine Balt and Paula Eaton have been nothing short of outstanding.
Over the past several months, my wife and I have experienced first-hand just how complex and overwhelming a household disaster can be. There are so many moving parts — drying the property, removing damaged materials, assessing structural issues, restoring valuable and sentimental items, ensuring electrical safety, and coordinating multiple specialist contractors.
Jeanine and Paula have handled all of this with remarkable efficiency and professionalism. They have seamlessly coordinated a wide range of agencies, including:
Polygon for drying, rubble removal, and wall stripping
Ellipta for surveying the damage
Harwell for the careful collection and restoration of valuable photographs
Electricians to ensure the property was safe
Textile specialists Chartries to assess, restore, or compensate for damaged clothing and fabrics
What truly sets them apart, however, is their exceptional communication and empathy. Every appointment was arranged in consultation with us, always taking into account our availability and convenience. Emails were answered promptly — often by return — and every response was clear, helpful, and reassuring.
Throughout what has been a very stressful and disruptive time, Jeanine and Paula have consistently shown genuine understanding and compassion. They kept us fully informed at every stage, explaining what would happen next and who would be involved. Their calm, organised, and proactive approach removed an enormous amount of worry from our shoulders.
In many ways, they reflect the very best qualities consistently praised in Sedgwick’s wider team — professionalism, efficiency, clear communication, and a real commitment to supporting customers through difficult situations. But for us, Jeanine and Paula have gone above and beyond.
Our restoration is still ongoing, but thanks to their dedication, we feel confident, supported, and in very capable hands.
If you are considering a home insurance policy, I would strongly recommend asking your insurer which loss adjuster they use. If Sedgwick is involved, you can proceed with complete confidence. Based on our experience, I can say without hesitation that professionals like Paula Eaton and Jeanine Balt will guide you through the process with care, efficiency, and genuine kindness.
I highly recommend Sedgwick — and especially Paula and Jeanine — for turning what could have been an overwhelming experience into something far more manageable.
Thank you once again for your outstanding support.

Claims handler Paula Eaton and Jeanine Balt
Both of our claim handlers have been exceptional from the very start. They are organised, efficient, and proactive, moving the process forward with real momentum and care. What stands out most is their genuine understanding of the pressure we’re under and the thoughtful way they’ve supported us through it.
They’ve communicated with us clearly and consistently by phone, email, and even a Teams meeting, adapting to whatever works best for our schedule. They’ve also been incredibly considerate of our work commitments, recognising that we sometimes have limited time or availability. Despite that, they’ve kept everything progressing smoothly in the background, never letting our claim lose pace.
Every question has been answered patiently and thoroughly, and when one handler isn’t available, the other steps in without hesitation. Their teamwork gives us complete confidence that the rest of our claim will be handled with the same calm professionalism and kindness we’ve experienced so far.
Both handlers deserve recognition for their speed, care, and unwavering support—something our whole family truly appreciates. We are deeply grateful for the reassurance, compassion, and steady guidance they continue to provide.

Making an insurance claim is always stressful because it only happens when something goes wrong. All I can say is my experience when making a major claim for severe water damage throughout our house was nothing short of brilliant. No attempts to get out of it, trick us up, or shy away from the cost of fixing the problem properly. A truly exceptional experience. Their primary concern really felt like being a support for us through a very stressful time. Highly recommended.

Amin put me at ease straight away as I had never had to claim on my housing insurance before.
He was incredibly thorough, clear in his communication, and genuinely committed to helping me understand every step of the process. What could have been a stressful situation (and there were a few times when it was!) felt manageable and well‑supported thanks to his calm, professional approach.
Amin handled the claim with efficiency and fairness. I always felt informed and respected. Due to his quick responses every time I got in touch (of which there were many!), I felt confident that my case was in capable hands.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amin to anyone needing a reliable and knowledgeable loss adjuster. He turned a challenging few months into a smooth, positive experience.

Claim ongoing for over 4 years and still no sign of getting the insurance work finished. Work was to repair water damage after a leak and should have originally taken 6 weeks to complete. Sedgwick used dishonest cowboy builders to do the work but only about half of the work was completed and it was done to an extremely poor standard. Sedgwick have done everything they can to avoid getting the work finished properly despite me having two successful ombudsman complaints against them.
They are one of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with and actually sent me an edited version of a report to try to avoid repairing some damage but the ombudsman found against them. Avoid this company at all costs.

We had an exceptional officer, Anne Christie, who dealt with our claim during our flood insurance claim. From her very first visit, Anne provided reassurance, clear guidance, and practical advice at a time when our family felt overwhelmed and uncertain. Her communication was consistently prompt and clear, giving us confidence and peace of mind throughout the entire process. Anne and her colleague, Sasha, handled our claim with outstanding professionalism, efficiency, and genuine compassion, which made a significant difference during a very challenging period. Thanks to her dedication and support, we have now reached the stage of reinstating our home. We are extremely grateful for the care and commitment of Sedgwick and would highly recommend their services.
