Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 8,353 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the delivery service, citing frequent delays, missed deliveries, and parcels not arriving as expected. People often reported issues with tracking information being inaccurate or unavailable, and a general lack of reliability in the service. The customer service was also a major point of contention, with many finding it unhelpful, unprofessional, and difficult to reach a resolution. Some people were dissatisfied with the company's inability to follow delivery instructions or provide flexible delivery options, which other services offer. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with their local postmen, describing them as friendly and providing good service.

Royal mail are useless and a joke

Royal mail are useless and a joke. Two missing parcels in the last week. They advised our drive way was not accessible......I've been here both days, nothing on our ring doorbell and I've received post on both days. The only thing on our open drive is my car. Stop telling lies because you are incompetent and basically useless. I've contacted the suppliers and advised them NOT to use Royal mail again. Lies, lies and more lies 😴

Stayed in all day for my parcel from amazon but delivered by Royal Fail . Being a Friday they must have knocked off early and sent a notification stating that they attempted to deliver but nobody was in . BS as when my postman comes and no one is in he leaves it in a " safe place " aka in my bin . Wish amazon would stop using theses clowns and deliver it themselves

Can't even deliver a letter

I would have given it zero stars if I could. Sent a letter recorded delivery first class as it had important documents in and nobody at Royal Mail knows where it is. Had to wait 30 minutes to talk to someone who just said I can claim my money back in a few days 😡😡

Premium Price, Premium Insurance — Zero Accountability

Paid nearly £50 for International Tracked & Signed with additional insurance on a collector’s item worth around £300 to send to the US. The parcel was incorrectly marked “insufficient address” by Royal Mail’s delivery partner USPS despite the address being fully correct, returned to sender instead of delivered, and came back damaged during return transit. USPS acknowledged delivery error, yet Royal Mail (who took the payment and provided the service) rejected the claim stating the item had been “delivered”, which was factually untrue as the parcel was physically back in my possession. I ultimately had to refund the buyer out of my own pocket due to the damage caused during return handling. The entire claims and escalation process was extremely draining, slow, and poorly handled for what was supposed to be a premium insured service. It raises serious questions about the value of paying premium prices for tracked, signed and insured delivery if even a clearly documented and evidence-backed case cannot be handled properly.

Yet again the item didn’t get delivered…

Yet again the item didn’t get delivered on time. This company should have the name royal removed. There’s nothing royal about it anymore. It’s the worst delivery service we have now. The other courier companies beat it on everything.

Bad customer service

I called Royal Mail today to register a complaint with my post going missing and being opened. I spent nearly 30 minutes waiting to speak to an advisor. When my call was eventually answered I began explaining my problem and the advisor just left the call and put my call back in the queue. This is really bad customer service and incredibly rude and unprofessional!

Bad communication

Received no information regarding an upcoming delivery, just received an email stating an 'attempted delivery was made' half an hour later. A customer cannot track a delivery if not provided with a tracking number, therefore probably won't be in when attempting delivery (although.....I was). Poor service this time.

Can’t decide if they are bone idle illiterate or just taking the p@ss
They ask for delivery instructions then find it impossible to follow them but the best bit is when you waiting all day and then get a message saying they tried to deliver and no one was home 😡😡😡wtf

Jed went above and beyond for me and helped me out by giving me my parcels that I was going to miss when I saw him on the road near my local post office on Ainsworth Road, as I wasn’t in and kindly letting me use his bag to carry them home as they were so heavy which he came and picked up after. Such great service and always so friendly! BL8 Bury Area.

Lost in Space??

I got confirmation that an item i purchased had arrived at the Northern Ireland Royal Mail center on Sunday 24/05/2026 and that it would be delivered on Tuesday the 26/05/2026 due to the public holiday. I am still waiting for the package and it is now 29/05/2026 ,also the tracking stage has not altered. I submitted a form about this 2 days ago and no one has replied. I have tried phoning Royal Mail but the waiting time is over 40 minutes.

Tracked 48 service to a business…

Tracked 48 service to a business address has now taken 9 days (including a weekend) to be delivered. It still hasn't been delivered and when I checked the tracking information, it seems Royal Mail keep trying to deliver the item either before 9am or after 5pm. TO A BUSINESS ADDRESS! This will be the last parcel I send via Royal Mail. It's almost as if they want to discourage people from using them!!

1st class is a joke

Posted a anniversary card a week in advance using a first class stamp. The letter took 8 days to arrive missing the anniversary! So much for a first class next day service! I complained to royal mail and hot a standard reply with no apology or explanation of the delay. Absolutely useless

Did not "attempt to deliver my parcel"

NO, Royal Mail delivery person.
You say you "attempted to deliver my parcel and there appeared to be nobody in".
That is a LIE. I was in all the time that you said you would deliver. I didn't even go in the garden.
You just messed up and blamed me. Now I have to wait in again.
Useless.

I would give minus stars if possible

I would give minus stars if possible. Royal Mail have been on a downward trajectory for years, but the last 12 months it has absolutely plummeted. I have my third item in a row delayed (email received this morning) as a result of going to Preston MC instead of Wigan. Tracked 48 hour services are taking on average a week, tracked 24 hours not much better. Absolute joke of a service and I would argue not fit for purpose.
