Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 243 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently reported significant issues with customer service, describing agents as unhelpful, difficult to understand due to language barriers, and often rude or dismissive. The overall process was found frustrating and annoying, marked by long hold times, unacknowledged concerns, and a lack of flexibility, while the website and software were criticized for being outdated, buggy, and hard to navigate. Proctors were frequently unprofessional, abrupt, and sometimes terminated exams without clear justification. Made me unplug every single cord in my area even though everything was powered off. Lady from customer service was extremely when telling me what needed to be changed in my workspace. The whole process of this is annoying and frustrating. Hopefully companies/schools that need tests proctored, find a different and better option than Pearson VUE. Awful to deal with 0/10

Avoid using Pearson VUE service

I took a Microsoft online exam on 12th December. It’s now been over 60 hours and I haven’t received a single email or update about my results. On the same day, I chatted with one of the support agents who confirmed I had passed — yet there’s still no update on the Microsoft portal, and no one from this organisation responds to my questions.

The process is confusing and poorly coordinated. When you book the exam, you receive multiple emails. But once you actually take it, there’s complete silence. If you ask for help, they tell you to contact Microsoft — and on Microsoft’s website, it says to contact the test centre. It’s a frustrating loop with no accountability.

Absolutely awful experience and…

Absolutely awful experience and examination method. (Liverpool)
Avoid at all costs - I wouldn’t take this exam even for free. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Terrible company.

The whole process was a joke. I arrived early and wasn’t allowed to wait inside for 20 minutes, even though there were around 25 empty seats in the waiting room. Completely illogical and unprofessional.

The test environment itself was extremely distracting:
• No sound isolation at all - constant noise from other people.
• Not enough time to properly describe pictures or complete tasks.
• Chaotic, stressful conditions that make it impossible to perform well.
• £10 headphones from aliexpress- with very - very loud beeps (propably I will have tunitis after this exam)

On top of that, I witnessed someone being refused the exam because their document included a middle name, and he instantly lost £160. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a common issue.

A complete waste of money and time.
I genuinely cannot believe that the government lists this company as a recommended provider on their official website. Seriously - do not go there!

They make it their website as…

They make it their website as unfriendly as possible for test takers when rescheduling exams. You cannot see your booked exam on the portal and gaslight you that it is your fault. Don't mind that you are sick and you have a valid medical excuse. You won't get refunds. Absolute horse shit service.

PV cancelled my exam at last moment

I scheduled an exam with Pearson VUE in August for a date in December and received a confirmation. One week before the exam, I got an email asking me to reschedule via their website, but the website offered no way to do so. Shortly afterward, I received another email saying that I had cancelled my exam, which I absolutely had not.

I then spent at least 30 minutes on hold to reach customer service, only to be told that my exam slot was no longer available due to a “lunch closure.” I asked to move the appointment time and was informed that there were no more slots available anywhere in Switzerland, France, or Italy (the exam was supposed to take place in Geneva).

From prior experience at exam centres, I know there are usually far more workstations than candidates in the room, so this explanation felt completely unreasonable.

Unfortunately, I cannot give 0 stars to Pearson VUE, but that is what their service and customer support would deserve. I am extremely disappointed by the total lack of accountability and customer care and will avoid this company in the future.

Pearson Vue has the absolute worst…

Pearson Vue has the absolute worst online testing experience. I had two exams scheduled with them over two consecutive days. On the first day, despite passing all the system tests, the online proctor wasn’t able to hear me, so they had me close their app and restart three times only to rejoin the back of the queue each time, having to wait for a new proctor to pickup. Then the exam finally launched and terminated five questions in, so I had to re-launch for a 4th time!

On the 2nd day, the same thing happened so I told the proctor that I would rather not restart and asked him to check his speaker settings. My proctor totally blew up and revoked my exam without even talking to me or giving me a chance to explain! I mean I spent a lot of time and energy preparing for the exam only to encounter hostile proctors like this.

Honestly I don’t know how this company’s online testing product is still in service with all these negative experiences and reviews. I guess there is no accountability when it comes to testing companies because they know professionals need these certifications and product companies like ServiceNow are still willing to do business with them.

Incredibly frustrating

Absolutely never use this service if you can avoid it. I tried on 3 different computers - it wouldn't start the exam on my Macbook because of unkillable Notification Center background processes, and the application wouldn't even open on 2 different Windows computers. I'm not sure how anybody successfully takes an exam with this application. Customer service is buried on their website and is not helpful for immediate, concrete technical issues.

Extremely Disappointed with Pearson VUE…

Extremely Disappointed with Pearson VUE and GED+ Support
My experience with Pearson VUE and the GED+ services has been nothing short of frustrating and unacceptable. I paid $374 for Order #6071569, and not only did I never receive access to any GED+ services, but I also still have not received my refund.
Pearson VUE claims they issued a refund under reference 74510735321100955538532, but the original payment method they supposedly refunded to has been permanently closed for months. I have explained this repeatedly, yet they continue insisting the refund was processed—despite the fact that it is impossible for the refund to go through. To this day, no refund has reached me, by any method.
On top of that, I was never assigned an advisor, never given access to GED+, and never provided with any real assistance. Every attempt to resolve this has been met with delays, canned responses, or no action whatsoever.
Because Pearson VUE has refused to resolve this issue, I have already:

Filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

Posted this 1-star review to warn others

I have offered multiple reasonable solutions—processing the refund to my current debit card or sending a check to my verified address—but Pearson VUE has not taken any meaningful steps to fix the situation.
This has been a terrible customer service experience from start to finish. I strongly advise future GED+ customers to proceed with caution. If my issue is not resolved promptly, I will continue escalating this through every available consumer protection channel.

No one at test location

I scheduled my exam on the 18th of November, so I could take it on the 20th.

When I got on the test location, no one was there. So I gave the test location a call and they gave me a number from Pearson VUE. I contacted them, explained it, so I could get a voucher.

However, the person on the phone told me it would take 3 business days for them to look at the request. We're already 3 days in, still no answer. They wouldn't give me a reimbursement, or even a voucher code so I could just reschedule myself.

It's a shame Microsoft works with this company. They don't respect their customers, and their time at all. Now I have to take another day off, drive there, pay for gas and parking AGAIN, because of something that's not my fault. And they don't even have the common decency to make it right immediately.

Terrible Experience with this Horrible Company!!!

An absolute disaster! Despite completing every required step in advance, I was unable to access the (proctored) exam and was not provided with an option to check in or begin testing. I completed the system test twice—once several days before the exam and again approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. My system passed all checks on both attempts. However, when I attempted to check in for the exam, the system did not provide a “Start Exam” or “Check In” option as shown in the testing day instructions. I immediately contacted Pearson VUE through customer support chat. Unfortunately, the representatives were not helpful at all! I spoke with 2. I was told they would “open a case.” I asked for documentation emailed of our chat and they told me “Take screenshots.” This is a terrible company!!! 😡

BEWARE!! SCAM!!!

BEWARE!!! Stay AWAY from Pearson. Horrible. I was doing the check in and had NOT even STARTED the test yet and on my screen it said I had to check in with the proctor before my test (which I thought was normal because they probably want to see my desk and my room). On the screen it said "We may contact you through phone. So I got up to check to see if they tried to reach me through my phone to do the check in. When I came back to my computer, the screen was open to instructions for the test, which I thought was weird. When I started reading, I got a message on my screen from the proctor that said "I saw you left your seat, did you finish your test?" I wrote back "no I did not even click start on the test yet, I thought you were going to check in with me." So I then hit start and immediately my test closed and a message popped up saying "You have been caught using a prohibited item, you automatically fail the test and forfeit the fee." I appealed the decision to customer service and they found that I DID violate their policy and they will keep my money and not give me another test. A HUGE SCAM! GO TAKE IT IN PERSON!!!

I'm dyslexic

I'm dyslexic, and I recently went to take my GED. As an English speaker, I needed accommodations, but they assigned me a reader whose first language is not English. This made it extremely difficult for me to understand the instructions and content of the test. I didn't want to come off as rude, but I struggled to comprehend everything being read to me. Afterward, I contacted Pearson Vue to explain my situation and the impact it had on my performance. Unfortunately, they informed me that they couldn't assist me in retaking the test with a reader who is a native English speaker. Consequently, I'll have to pay again to take the test, hoping for a better experience next time. It's disappointing that Pearson Vue couldn't recognize the importance of providing the right support for individuals with accommodations. This experience felt unfair, and I believe stronger measures should be taken to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to succeed.

Very Poor Customer service

Having an issue with a voucher I was advised to call the helpdesk as they couldnt do what was needed through Chat. This was a big mistake. The agent accused me of lying stating I had no account even though I was logged in, looking at the account and providing details from the dashboard. The agent then continually asked me to stay online. This at first was reassuring that the agent was keen to fix, but how wrong was I. The agent failed to listen past any comments or recommendations I suggested. I asked for a supervisor and the agent again asked an already answered question. Eventually after 20 mins of not getting anywhere, I hung up. I spoke to the training provider who stated they could proctor the exam instead. Problem solved. Will avoid Pearson Vue from now on if I can.

I could give Zero Stars I would

I could give Zero Stars I would. Two of my technical people ran into Pearson's tech issues and couldn't get the exams finished with their vouchers. After emailing back n forth with an entirely unhelpful email desk, finally went on FB to send them a dm. Response was here's the link to call us, with no phone number. After 2 months I have failed to recover the costs of the vouchers. I will be calling the credit card company to dispute the charges.
