Horrible, Deceitful, and Over Priced!

My wife and I had a very deceitful experience with Park West. We went ahead with a picture on the Celebrity Eclipse. 13 hours later we decided to cancel, but we kept getting the run around. Celebrity claimed that we needed to speak directly to Park West Galleries. Park West said we would have to call back in 10 days. That they wouldn't have any paperwork until that time. That they couldn't even note the cancellation without an order in the system. 4 DAYS, count them 4 days (Exactly 110 Hours after Purchase) we received shipping notification. When we immediately called park west, she said we signed the final sale invoice. That is NOT true. Celebrity has a pad that you sign and they transpose it onto a Park west invoice. The Park West Invoice that they give provide you says "Please read carefully all terms and conditions BEFORE buying". We weren't told before hand. They wouldn't stop the sale after. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Inflated prices and deceptive tactics.

Is lying an essential cultural practice…

Is lying an essential cultural practice of American capitalism, a lubricant, if you will, for what I’ll call the “art of business.” Well, the Park West Gallery sales representative lied right to my face! I’ve done business with Park West for almost 20 years and recently (10/16/2024) bought a second Peter Max on a Celebrity cruise. I like this one piece (Flag with Heart) and specifically asked “Is this the exact numbered piece I’ll be receiving?” The representative said “YES”. “Great, let’s complete the transaction”. I did take a picture of the piece which was numbered 395/495. When we received the artwork, the numbered piece was 465/495. Yes, it looks identical, but the issue is the Park West representative LIED. This will be the last piece of artwork I buy from Park West. Based on this experience, I recommend NOT to purchase from Park West.
11/1/2024 Received this note from PW as a follow-up: I would like to bring your attention to our Terms and Conditions, indicate that you may receive an annotation that differs from what is displayed at the event. Additionally, clause 16 states that no verbal agreements should be relied upon.

REALLY....you are NOT to believe what a PW representative tells you! What type of company even puts this in a clause? Only one that is dishonest and deceitful.

Do not trust this gallery they over…

Do not trust this gallery they over price the art they sell, so if you ever need to sell your art get ready for sticker shock you may get half of what you paid for it, minus the commission for the sale.
This gallery cheats you out of your money!!!

Art lost but won't refund my charge card

I purchased an art work on our celebrity cruise in early April of this year. When I received the art work it was the wrong painting. I received it and without removing it from the packaging sent it back. It cost much more than the painting I purchased. I was told my art piece could not be found and was either lost or resold in error. After 5 months and over 45+ emails and phone calls they agreed to refund my money. Then they finally found my art work. Confusing because now my one of a kind art that could not be sent because it was lost or resold, now has hundreds of copies! I decided after the months of frustration of emails and calls and wrong art being sent that I don't want the art. I was told my card would be refunded in full.
Now I'm being told that I would be responsible for taxes and shipping. I have almost $400 that is on my card and no art. Any other business would not only refund you your money but at least have the decency to apologize for the 40 + conversations with still no resolution.

This happened about 45 years ago

This happened about 45 years ago. I purchased a lithograph at an auction in my hometown. After the purchase I discovered that what I bought was not as advised. Many attempted calls and letters to the gallery were to no avail. At a later date, they were back in town. I approached the Park West owner, he said he couldn't help me, no paperwork. when he accepted the idea that I wasn't going Anyware before the auction started; I got my money back in cash. Yes, they are not new at this.

Park West rocks!

Went on our first cruise with Carnival in June. Had a blast at the Park West auctions. Ian and his crew were very accommodating. We received one of the prints just two weeks after the trip and it is so much more beautiful than we remembered! Two weeks later we received the rest. Couldn’t be happier with our purchases!
We didn’t have a need to contact Park West after the purchase. All were received before the time promised.

I purchased some art work 03/2024

I purchased some art work 03/2024, on Carnival Cruise ship. My art was suppose to arrive within 6 weeks. Today is 07/15 and I am still waiting for my Peter Max Umbrella Man to arrive. Everytime I call for an update, I'm told that its being processed. Don't know what that entails but it doesn't take 6 weeks extra to process paperwork for a painting to be printed. Just got off the phone with them again same excuse. Can't get a number to Corporate Headquarters.

Bad Experience Park West Art Gallery on…

Bad Experience Park West Art Gallery on Carnival Liberty Cruise Ship
My experience on the cruise was good until I went to the Park West Art Auction. Everyone seemed very cordial and accommodating but after the fact I did not receive what I was promised. In calling the company for resolution I have thus far met with no resolution. To top it off I have recently had to contact my credit card company since I have monies charged on my sign and sale card that was suppose to be removed and only charged on a Park West credit card. It has been very disappointing and discouraging. I am still waiting for a callback from a supervisor. It was my first experience with Park West and depending on the outcome it will be my last. It appears there is a lot of hype but not honesty in transacting business. At this point I have lost all faith in the company and spent a large amount of money. Depending on the outcome I hope my faith can be restored. I have tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and consider it was an honest mistake but due to no one getting back to me or working to resolve the issue it is causing me to lose faith in their goal to do the right thing. I would just say proceed with caution no matter how nice the people seem since the bottom line is the final outcome of the purchase and in my case I was not given what was agreed upon or promised. Get paperwork in writing I was told I couldn’t get a hard copy of an invoice because the computer wasn’t working but was assured it would be emailed at a later date but once I got the invoice he had changed it and no business should be transacted without a copy of the invoice at the time of service not after the fact. If the computer is broken then simply cancel the order until such time as things are working properly. Integrity has to be more important than profit and in my case that seems to be the issue. I’m praying for a resolution and am promised a call from a supervisor today. It’s been 30 days since my cruise and should not take that long to resolve the issue. The solution is simple. The willingness on the part of the company to keep their word is the only roadblock I am seeing. I regret I have to reach out to other entities to get someone to take my case seriously. I will keep everyone posted if things are finally resolved in a satisfactory manner. 🙏🙏🙏

DREADFUL AWFUL SERVICE

DREADFUL AWFUL SERVICE
Bought a be picture and Park West committed to send to the UK within 12 weeks. This never happened. Several international calls later and still no picture and frankly don’t believe a single word that the customer service agents tell me, they have NEVER followed through on any of their promises to find out what’s happening and keep me informed. I will NEVER PURCHASR FROM THEM AGAIN. I have found them to be WHOLLY UNRELIABLE.

Steer Clear

My recommendation would be to go elsewhere for your art. They sent the wrong painting TWICE, various people working at Park West were not even able to tell the difference between 2 clearly different pieces (one had a building in it and the other did not, seriously how can you miss that), I had to constantly chase for any resolution, when returning the incorrect artwork and waiting home for FedEx I had several pick ups declined because they can't even send the right shipping paperwork. When they finally sent the correct piece they did so without paying the necessary tax and customs, then they argued they were mine to pay and told me to prove otherwise when it was in their own paperwork as it was sold all in. Now they constantly delay a refund of less than £40 (it's a point of principle now) and have forced me to chase and jump through hoops. And what do they do to make up for months of failures on their part (this saga started in August 2023 and continues to date) - they offer a complimentary artwork print as an apology, I confirmed expeditiously my selection as per their request, but they NEVER actually send it. My advice would be to steer well clear.

ParkWest is amazing

I have to offer my experiences in order to offset these bad reviews. It sounds like many negative reviews are from people you don’t understand the difference between going to a store to buy something vs going to an auction to bid on something. You bid you buy. You don’t get to change your mind when you get home and request a refund or exchange. That is not how auctions work. Know what you are doing before you participate. They repeatedly announce that it could be weeks if not months before you will receive your artwork. I have participated in land, cruise and online auctions and my experiences have always been wonderful. I am a very informed bidder so I know what to expect. Everyone from the auctioneers to the concierge staff, customer service, after-sales; literally everyone has always been wonderful and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. Ask questions, be your own advocate and don’t blame anyone but yourself if you “assumed” something that turned out to not be the case. I can only speak about my own experiences but I am a very happy ParkWest bidder

I just joined onto Park West auction

I just joined onto Park West auction. I was interested in a Michael Goddard painting, it never came up for bid. I was mistake about the prices, it was dark on my living room and I not have my glasses on, I thought a piece was $275 in fact it was 2750.
Likely I never gave my credit card number so was not stuck with $5740.
I last March I was on a Princess Regal cruise, I purchase a painting of a very colorful elephant, when I got home I did not like it. I tried to exchange it for one I liked for equal cost. They said in want that painting i would have to pay more.
I spent almost $5000 for the art and I do love what I have.

Serious scam. I would recommend anyone having problems find a lawyer.
I think would should open a class action law suit.

Park West Gallery are professional…

Park West Gallery are professional thieves, buyer beware. When you're asked to give a down payment for any art work you select at the point of sale refuse to leave a down payment. Your down payment will go straight to the pocket of the salesperson that sponsored you as a part of his commission. If you are financing a balance Synchrony Bank will have no record of a down payment at the point of sale even though your invoice (receipt) will show the transaction Synchrony will not have the deposit funds. These people are slick on another level. Read the thousands of negative reviews.

Beware, your not actually "bidding" your pre-buying.

Prices are good but the auction is deceptive. If you request an item to come up for "bid" they consider the request itself a bid at the opening price and a final sale (no backing out). If it's a print they have multiples of, they sell at opening price to each "bidder" so it's not really being auctioned and you are buying not bidding.

Only Good Experiences from Park West!!!

Our favourite piece of work from artist Mr Fazzino was on the Quantum of the Seas cruise in mid march 24. We did not buy on the Covid cruise the Ruby Princess and regretted it at the time, I had searched the art work and it was being sold at some quite high prices on eBay and other sites. When we saw it on display on our entry on the Quantum cruise, we just bought it right away, haha. Not the first purchase on a cruise line and not the first time from Park West Galleries. This time was no different, we received regular updates from FEDEX and received it at lunchtime today, about a month since our cruise. I/we have had nothing but good experience with the company and the staff selling the art on the ships are more than knowledgable about a lot of art!!

Bought 4 pieces of art during a cruise…

Bought 4 pieces of art during a cruise ship recently and they specifically said that they would be FRAMED and shipped to me afterwards.
Well... it didn't happen and one month later or so I got the 4 pictures UNFRAMED. After I reached out to them they offered to frame them for "a special price". They refuse to cancel the transaction and I am pretty furious. NEVER AGAIN! Watch out

I have had an awful experience with…

I have had an awful experience with Park West Gallery and I wouldn’t ever recommend wasting a minute of your time at an auction or purchasing a painting from them. I went on a royal Caribbean cruise in December and went to two of their auctions where I purchased a painting. I was told it would take up to 12 weeks to be delivered. After numerous emails and calls after not receiving the pairing I was eventually told that it was never processed properly and I would have to bid and purchase again. I was barely given an apology for the mistakes that were made. I have sent multiple emails over a period of a month trying to sort it out and their customer service are absolutely incompetent. I would never buy from them again. Total waste of time. If you are an artist, find yourself a different gallery, one that is actually interested in selling your art!!! If you love art like I do then find other galleries as no one can be as incompetent as Park West.

Great staff really lovely art available…

Great staff really lovely art available at all price ranges from prints right the way through to originals. I think they really bring art to people who would never have thought of buying before. Very happy with the service but you do need to understand what you are buying and make sure you take into account any customs or vat/sales taxes.

Purchased art work in July 2022

Purchased art work in July 2022. never received a request for balance payment and when I contacted them they said I hadn't paid balance in time and would lose deposit. After explaining they agreed to refund the deposit as inhouse credit. After 18 months and numerous follow ups, I am still waiting on confirmation of the credit details. Unacceptable. Do not buy from them.
