Good experience
Booked an eye test at Glasgow St Enoch's which was a very pleasant experience and the team are so friendly. Had to get glasses again after having laser eye surgery 7 years ago. Kitti helped me select some nice frames and explained the offers they have so got 2 pairs of glasses and the second pair was essentially free. Very happy overall cheers guys.

My experience with laser eye surgery with Optical Express was amazing Kerry Brennan from the white rose shopping centre branch was amazing, she made me feel extremely comfortable in what otherwise would of been quite nervy, she was very kind and helpful and i would recommend Optical Express.

The Birmingham team are very friendly and made me feel at ease from start to finish
I literally could squeeze them as they’ve gave me the ability to see so clearly!! - over the moon
The waiting time wasn’t long at all, I was in and out after about 2 hours
The procedure was so straightforward and I didn’t feel a thing - everyone involved was very clear with what was going on and what they were about to do

Be aware
Be aware - once you have paid the deposit for an appointment which is £50 you will not get a refund unless you give them three days notice. I made an enquiry into cost which was reasonable hence then making an appointment by phone for within two days, paid the deposit. I was contacted the next day they asked a lot of questions and because of my age the cost was four times more than originally quoted. I asked to cancel the appointment as it was beyond my budget the young lady said I would not be charged. Luckily I recorded this conversation (for the first time ever). Three weeks later they took the payment. I did get a refund after sending them the recording but I’m sure most of you won’t.

We would like to clarify the appointment and fee process to ensure there is no misunderstanding.
When card details are provided at the time of booking, this confirms a patient’s intention to attend the appointment they have selected. The appointment is then reserved exclusively for that patient. A confirmation email is sent immediately—where a valid email address has been provided—and this contains full details of the non-attendance and short-notice amendment fee. This ensures patients are informed of the terms associated with their reservation.
The £50 fee is only applied when a confirmed appointment is cancelled at short notice or not attended, as this appointment time has been allocated specifically to the patient and cannot be offered to anyone else unless the patient informs us. Based on the information you have shared, it appears the appointment was reserved, and the terms—including the fee—were communicated in line with our process.
However, I can confirm that after you contacted our team, a refund for the £50 charge was processed. This left Optical Express on the 23rd of June 2026. Typically this can take up to 10 working day to process, however if you do not received the refund or would like to discuss this further, we would invite you to contact our Customer Services team via 01236 795 010. Alternatively, you can provide us with more information via email by sending it to customerservice@opticalexpress.com
