I had Laser eye surgery with Optical Express yesterday, I am amazed at the skill of the surgeon who talked me through the procedure. I have an illness which has taken away my speech. All the team were aware of this and showed me kindness all the way through surgery. A lovely nurse held my hand all the way through keeping me calm and checking in with me , making me feel safe. All the staff were so lovely and professional from the moment I walked in until I left. I would urge anyone seeking treatment to go to Optical Express day after surgery I can feel a marked improvement in my sight and I am amazed that my sight will still improve more in the next few days, I am so happy I made the decision to have this surgery

I went to Optical Express as I felt my eyes were deteriorating so wanted to know what all options were laser, lense replacement etc. I was dealt with by Maryanne who was really nice and friendly and the optician (if that what he is classed as) was call Dawood who again was very friendly.
I was a little concerned it could potentially turn into a hard sell to have a procedure but after the tests and a discussion with Dawood he confirmed my eyes are still in good condition and it was just age. He actually advised not to go ahead with a procedure at this stage and suggest maybe glasses just for up close activities to prolong my eye health.
It was refreshing to go to a company that didn't push a "sale" and to advise for my best options.
Thank you all and I will be back when my eye do get to the point of needing it

Please take your time to read my experience with Optical Express so that you may not suffer the irreversible situation I have now found myself in.
I was heavily marketed with tons of ads before I finally gave in, the phone call came in sharp and the salesman prompt and polite.
When being consulted they simply asked my profession which is a musician and they said I would be suitable for LASIK over LASEK.
What they forgot to mention to me is that the flap they create in a LASIK surgery never goes back to the pre-operative strength and goes to about 23% of it's original strength.
I play sports and box every week and they did not even ask me these questions before recommending LASIK - I have come to learn that if I were to get punched in the face, poked with a twig or finger, hit by a ball, the flap can be compromised and depending on the severity of the damage it can be fixed or it can ruin your vision.
I was not told about this LIFELONG condition I now have to live with at the age of 33. I pray to god none of these things happen to me and I wish I had done more research beforehand regardless of the medical negligence of Optical Express not explaining the full side effects of this treatment.
Your eyes will be very dry, you will see halos at night, you can never rub your eyes again or risk dislodging the flap, you have to wear safety goggles all the time for any activities, no one asks to get punched in the face but if you do, the one punch can take your sight until you go and see a eye surgeon which makes you even more vulnerable in that moment...the list goes on.
My friends, please take caution, if you are a bit of an clumsy over-thinker like myself, you should be aware of all these risks.
Optical Express is a money grab and they will not explain the risks and side effects to you properly, they hand you a booklet with some information, make you sign it and that's that.
I hope this post can save someone from making the same mistake as me.
Stay safe!

I had LASIK surgery through Optical Express Nottingham/Derby 11 weeks ago. It has genuinely been a life changing experience and one I have been considering on/off for 10 years and have had 4 consultations with different providers during that time. 2 most recently and my consultation with Optical Express Derby was the one that finally gave me the confidence to give it a go! For context, I am in my 30's and have worn glasses since I was 7, contact lenses since I was 12. By the time I had the surgery I was over -7 in both eyes with an astigmatism and truly fed up with being so reliant on glasses and lenses. Staff members Sohail & Dana at the Derby centre were so friendly, professional and informative and the main reason I felt reassured and confident enough to go ahead and book. Every question was answered and I did not feel rushed or just like 'another' consultation and risks were discussed with me, not just read off a list. Other providers in comparison felt rushed and more like they were taking me through a checklist and not discussing the pros and cons with me personally. I followed all the recovery instructions and was over-cautious but all has healed well and since 10 weeks I have not needed eye drops at all other than very occasionally if sleeping in an air-con room or in an air-con car for long times! But that was something I struggled with pre-surgery anyway. Absolutely no regrets and wish I'd done it 10 years ago when I first started considering it! Thank you very much :)

I had a very positive experience during my consultation with Lorna and Sana. The entire appointment was run very efficiently, and I felt well looked after from start to finish.
The procedure was explained to me in detail, which helped me feel informed and reassured. I was given plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and both Lorna and Sana were patient, knowledgeable, and happy to address all of my concerns.
Lorna went above and beyond by helping to arrange a speedy booking for my surgery. Lorna and Sana also took the extra time to help me secure a discount, which I really appreciated. Their willingness to go the extra mile made a real difference to my overall experience.
Thank you both for your professionalism, kindness, and excellent customer care. I would highly recommend your service to others.

Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.
Waited years to get the courage to have LASIK and finally booked with optical express. The initial consultation was fine. Since then the rest of the staff I have had the displeasure of dealing with… if you like being ignored and talked to as if you’ve irritated them by just existing then well perfect fit. Upon attending my additional scans appointment at the Birmingham, everyone was arrogant and rude and acted like they could not be bothered. On the day of my surgery, yes the actually day, in fact only 2 and a half hours before, I get a call to say that because of the heatwave they’ve decided to cancel surgery at Milton Keynes but I can come to London on that day instead. Bear in mind my surgery at Milton Keynes was supposed to be 2.45pm and they said my new time slot in London was 3pm. I could not make London because I have dogs and made a lot of arrangements to be able make it the day that was booked way in advance. Bare in mind the surgery was booked for a Friday and the heatwave had been all week starting Monday, they knew very well of the issues the heat wave was brining and yet decided the best time to let me know of the change was so near the surgery time. The person driving me to the surgery and I both took a day off work and I booked my dogs into daycare to ensure they weren’t left home alone all day. I lost so much money and time and energy due to the lack of patient curtesy. I was then told they’d rebook my surgery free of charged… excuse me?! You pestered me with countless texts and emails to ensure I had paid in full before the surgery, you cancelled on me a few hours before my surgery and then you tell me you won’t charge me more for moving it?! Not one thought as to what someone goes through to be available for the day, no care as to the anxiety I prepared for and no offer of a kind gesture due to their incompetence. Once my new appointment was booked, which again I was spoken to live I was an inconvenience to that person despite the company cancelling on me, I had to book an after care appointment. Now this person must have been the most outrageously rude of them all. I made it very clear I could not attended the aftercare appointment the day after the surgery due to them having moved my surgery. He booked it anyways and basically said it’s not his problem. On the day after my surgery, I made several attempts to move the after care appointment but it turns out that rather than being helpful and insuring you’re looked after they’d rather you not have an appointment at all. They really don’t care about the customer or your experience. All they want is your money and then you’re irrelevant to them. I’m now left with an extremely sore right eye and no one to help me. The results have been disappointing and the lack of human compassion has been the worst of it all.
If you want to be traumatised and treated like you’re irrelevant and an inconvenience then book with optical express, otherwise I’d really strongly recommend going with absolutely anyone else.

Had a consultation for laser eye surgery at Leeds White Rose, they really take the time to help you understand the procedure, huge thanks to Kerry and I can't wait to get my "new eyeballs"!

I had an appointment to assess my suitability for laser surgery or lens replacement. Arjun was so friendly and informative and I felt comfortable and able to ask questions throughout my time with him. At no point did I feel pressured into making a decision regarding which treatment I would opt for. Unfortunately I am not currently able to have any treatment due to diabetic retinopathy but will certainly visit again if and when my current issues are resolved.

I don’t like optical express- bad service - bad contact lenses they provide- I’ve severed my relationship with them because of bad service so changed to a good opticians. What more information do you need? I don’t like Optical Express White Rose Leeds & will never buy contact lenses from them. How much more information do you need to a bad review?
