I recently visited Beeches Gate to see a resident and managed to get myself a bit lost! Amanda, the House Manager, was so friendly and took the time to point me in the right direction.
While I was there, it was lovely to see how well she got on with the residents. She was chatting away to everyone and it was clear they all know and appreciate her.
I live in a similar retirement development, and it made me think how lucky the residents at Beeches Gate are to have someone like Amanda looking after them. She was warm, approachable and a real credit to the team.

I thoroughly enjoy living atMcCarthy Stone’s apartment in Whitfield, Dover. The apartment is spacious with lovely views…. Very peaceful. The Manager, Linda, is always ready to help and a very good organiser of activities which the residents can join in or not…. I would certainly recommend McCarthy Stones retirement living properties.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the Billing Department at McCarthy&Stone/Your Life Management Services, they incorrectly taken over £2,000 pounds from direct debit from my fathers personal account, and this is not the first time they have done it. I have called them multiple times and sent multiple emails, they never answer the phone and rarely call you back or respond to emails. This has been going on for 4 months now and it has still not been resolved. My father receives funds from the local council towards the cost of his care but this is paid into a dedicated care account linked to the council, we can only pay for his care invoices directly from the dedicated care account we cannot transfer the money to his personal account. Only his care invoices can be paid from the dedicated account, and only once an invoice in his name has been uploaded. Upon receipt of a correct invoice I have been uploading them and making payments for the care invoices over a week before the due date yet McCarthy&Stone/Your Life management Services are still collecting all invoices via direct debit despite me telling them multiple times that I am paying them manually. This month not only did they take £1,270.59 that had been paid 10 days before (they should have only taken £401 for the catering invoice) they then took two lots of service charge in the 8th July, £994.64 which according to their own service charge invoice should have stopped in June as well as £1,024.59 for July. I emailed and called as soon as both errors were seen but so far no refunds have been made and not one person in the billing team is taking responsibility or even attempting to rectify the situation. They are also issuing the invoices in my name even though this was never requested and means the invoices are useless as I cannot submit invoices in my name. The amount of time and effort that is being wasted by the complete incompetence of the billing department is exhausting and frustrating and that’s just for me. It causes my father even more stress and anxiety which is extremely dangerous for him as when he gets too stressed he collapses and ends up in A&E. All of this has been explained multiple times to the billing department but they just don’t care.

We have now lived in our apartment at Holcombe Brook for 3+ years. I can honestly say that it is the best decision we ever made and I share that thought and our reasons why with all our family and friends. So much so that my in laws moved in 10 months ago followed by my sister and her husband only a couple of months ago. They too are having a ball!
The experience is very much down to our lovely House Manager who is passionate about making our development a happy and welcoming place.
We are also close to 2 x small precincts which include a butchers, bakers, supermarket, hair & beauty salons, chemist, post office, Fish and chip shop, card & gift shop to name but a few. We have the use of a communal lounge where people can just sit and talk any time of day and is also used for events booked by our House Manager. These include singers, a violinist, choirs, evenings of games and also food brought in by catering companies. The outside garden is well maintained by our gardener and often you can see several of our residents sitting out for a chat.

My Mum recently moved into Jessiefield Court in Didsbury. The apartment and complex are lovely, but it’s the staff that make it such a special place. The house manager Kim is wonderful; nothing is ever too much trouble and she is always going out of her way to help my Mum. She really cares about everyone in the development and has gone above and beyond in helping my Mum settle in. The support staff are really great too. I would highly recommend!

Having now lived in Devonshire Place for over twelve months, I can honestly say that the flat is more than adequate for the needs of my wife and I. The staff are very friendly and attentive to our needs and on the occasions when we have had an emergency they have been there immediately to help. In particular I would like to thank and recommend the work done by Sharna, Francesca and Laurie on the care side and in addition all the staff in the Bistro particular Josie, Olivia and Coral for the splendid food and service.

Moving an elderly relative into a retirement community can be a daunting experience, but Margaret, the House Manager at Butterworth Grange, has made the transition so much easier for my great aunt.
From day one, she has gone above and beyond to help her settle in. Nothing is ever too much trouble, whether it’s answering questions, putting worries to rest, or simply being there for a friendly chat. If she doesn’t know the answer to something, she’ll always find out and come back to you.
Margaret is warm, approachable and genuinely cares about the residents. Every time I visit, it’s lovely to be greeted by her smiling face, and it’s incredibly reassuring to know that my great aunt has someone so kind and supportive just at the end of the corridor if she ever needs anything.
She is a real credit to Butterworth Grange and McCarthy Stone, and I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done to help my great aunt feel safe, welcome and at home.

I am a resident of Oaktree Court in Addlestone.
I would like to thank both Olesya Glivinska and Kanen Shivadasen for being such brilliant interim house managers over the past 6 months at Oaktree Court.
Both Olesya and Kanan have been, professional, helpful, kind and friendly - two examples of how house managers should be.
I and the other residents will be very sad and sorry to see them return to their respective McCarthy & Stone developments and would like to wish them all the very best for their futures.
Many thanks, Peter Morrissey

Grace - the house manager at the Wroughton Mcarthy Stone is absolutely brilliant.
When my mother in law was a resident there before moving on to a care home, Grace could not have been any more helpful and supportive.
Now we have the apartment on the market she is happy to help with prospective buyers.
In my opinion she is a real asset to Banks Place and Mcarthy Stone

Just stayed at Gibson court in the guest suite, I must say it was extremely comfortable and a beautiful place to stay. The estate manager showed us to the guest suite and it was spotless really comfortable and he even recommended places to visit in Woodhall spa which were all fantastic and we had a very pleasant stay.
Thank you Keith it was brilliant x

The 5 stars I have given are to show my appreciation to Katie at Northwich MCcarthy and Stone. She is amazing and would be the perfect duty manager to run the place as she really cares about all the residents, is so supportive and communicates so well with all who live there and their family and sees things from the residents point of view. She has so much experience and has gone out of her way to support my mum and is so kind to everyone. She is the best thing that has happened to Marbury Court and has made such a difference to the place since she has arrived.

My elderly parents bought a McCarthy and stone apartment recently in Burscough, they used the smooth move, whereby the builders purchased my parents bungalow, provided the solicitors and paid for the removal service.
Despite the fact that the bungalow was purchased by a third party instead of McCarthy and stone so we got slightly reduced price,at least they weren’t caught in a never ending chain, the whole process only took approximately six weeks, from viewing the apartment to moving, for us personally the money wasn’t as important as the time factor as my parents are late eighties and early nineties.
The solicitors were first class, sending an independent courier to assist with the legal paperwork, a great help, the removals firm were great from survey to moving within a week.
My parents have been in their apartment for two weeks now and they are so glad they made the move, the staff are so helpful and friendly, the other homeowners are chatty and friendly and above all it’s a lovely environment to be in so well maintained and they don’t have to worry about anything anymore.
My parents would highly recommend it

Together with my wife, I reside at Eastland Grange Assisted Living development in Hunstanton, Norfolk.
The Estate Manager Katie Harvey & her excellent support team, provide 24 hour coverage 7 days a week for the residents.
Earlier this week - Monday 20th July - I had a bad fall in the kitchen of our apartment & lost consciousness. My wife used the “Help” button & was immediately connected to Katie. Within a minute, she entered our apartment, having called for an ambulance, & together with Suzie they made me comfortable until I came round. Subsequently, Ange the duty manager, monitored matters until the paramedics arrived. For over two hours they carried out numerous tests &, prior to their departure, they concluded that the fall was due to my being acutely dehydrated.
I CANNOT THANK KATIE & HER TEAM FOR ALL THEIR HELP & ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGHOUT OUR VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE!

My Mother lived the last, and probably the best, years of her life in Trinity Court Halifax. The community, friendship and support she found was amazing. A well organised environment where the stress of managing everyday tasks from maintenance to gardening is taken away. The manager, Debbie, is always on hand to help and give support where needed. The guest suite is a real bonus for those, like us, travelling to visit family. Highly recommend the lifestyle.

Today, I was invited to give a talk to the residents at McCarthy & Stone, Sydney Grange, Greater Manchester. This is luxury retirement-living at its very best! After I gave my presentation, the residents told me how happy they were there, and they all agreed they were thrilled at their decision to make the move to Sydney Grange. I was welcomed by Debra Knibbs and the staff. Everyone was friendly and it was evident that they all enjoyed working there. I travel around the UK giving my talk to all kinds of groups. I must say, this is by far the best retirement community I've visited.
