Very difficult circumstances and deadlines which they handled very well and achieved before deadline- amazing

My brother and I had been struggling to make progress with our mother’s probate when I reached out to Hayley Rees-Jones at Howells Solicitors. She had impressed us previously with her professionalism, and once again, she exceeded expectations.

I used Howells solicitors to help sell my home, they where very efficient and and professional but also very resuring as I was going through a difficult time in my personal life.

They were very kind to guide us through the process as first bayers. Sara herself followed and completed the process when there were delays in the procedure.

My wife and I are first time buyers and this is our first experience of dealing with a solicitor for conveyancing. We had been recommended Cardiff Howells by a loved one.

While a draft contract has been retrieved by our Solicitor in very good time, other activities such as ID checks have not yet been processed. More importantly, I do not feel that we have been kept appropriately up to date over the past 4 weeks on activity or lack there of, although I appreciate that providing such updates might reduce available time for staff to get on with the 'doing'.

We have found that staff at Howells have poor communication skills with our solicitor twice referring to activity related to our case being on the "back burner". This wording suggests a lack of importance attached to our custom and is inappropriate. Additionally, calls with support staff have been disappointing - they have came across as inconsiderate and it feels like we are a bother to them. I asked about an initial sale fee (£300) payable immediately as referenced in the Client Care Letter but was bluntly told that no payments would be asked for - again making me feel silly for not understanding a process I haven't been involved with previously.

Lastly, I asked about how we could contact the Partner ultimately responsible for this case and was told I could only do this via our solicitors office.

I will happily update as the conveyancing process continues and hopefully our rating will improve. This should be a really straightforward case.

Used Howells Solicitors when i sold my house. Leyla did an excellent job in sorting out thing for me as the seller. Easy to communicate with and quick responses. Would recommend.

Cardiff office very lacklustre. Slow to communicate (if at all). When we enquired about documents sent, denied having received them, although they were sent signed for, then after us investigating and sending them a copy of the signed for receipt, they mysteriously appeared in the file.
Failed to inform us of the completion. Failed to transfer the money on the day of Completion (a Friday, so not until the Monday). Used their complaint procedure and although we had an acknowledgement of the complaint (just within 7 days), have not heard anything since, (40 working days later). We are still waiting for a final invoice as the one we have was issued before completion and has “Draft” written across it.
Generally a very poor performance and would not recommend them.

Received an apology and acknowledgement that our experience fell short of what was expected and an explanation of why this happened.

I've heard horror stories from friend's about dealing with bad solicitors, and with this being my first house purchase, I was worried I'd be taken for a ride, but Sadie and her team have been nothing short of impeccable!
I will be recommending her services for the rest of my life to friends and family, they were brilliant and speedy in almost all parts of the process. They were also kind throughout it, which put my confused-and-new-to-the-process mind at rest after complications arose on the seller's side and a few fall throughs!

I remember at multiple times during the process feeling I was in safe hands. I love my new house thank you team for making it happen!
