Poor Quality Control and Disappointing Customer Service
I recently ordered two custom-stitched lehengas from House of Indya and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
Before ordering, I contacted customer service to request actual fabric photos, as only model images were available online. I was initially told photos would be provided within 24 hours, but later informed that no real images existed.
After placing my order, I experienced several issues:
• One item arrived without the cancan skirt that I paid extra for. A refund was eventually issued, but only after I had to follow up and provide extensive documentation.
• Both blouses were poorly stitched. The left and right bust cups were visibly different sizes, making the blouses unwearable without alterations. One blouse also had stitching defects where the fabric folded and opened along the seam.
• One skirt had stitching defects as well.
I carefully documented the issues with photos and measurements and sent everything requested by customer service. Despite this, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed. The company focused on overall chest and waist measurements rather than addressing the actual problem: the two sides of the blouse were not constructed symmetrically.
I was ultimately told that because I had not purchased their additional "Detailed Customization" service, the garment was considered acceptable. In my opinion, having two different-sized bust cups is a quality control issue, not a customization request.
The only solution offered was to return the items to India at my own expense, with shipping costs, import deductions, and no guarantee of a full refund. As an international customer in Canada, this was not a practical resolution.
While responses were generally prompt, the quality control, attention to customer concerns, and after-sales support were disappointing. I cannot recommend purchasing custom-stitched garments from House of Indya based on my experience.
Update after original review: their team reached out and gave a better solution. Appreciate the effort on their end. Updated from 1 Star to 3 stars. Unable to give 5 stars as the process and solution was not excellent. 5 stars would be accurate for an excellent experience.

Do yourself a favour and DO NOT purchase from this company at all costs. They lie, do not offer a suitable resolution to their own mistakes. I purchased 3 outfits, none of the outfits match the description and photos on the website.
3 outfits ordered - 1 outfit was the wrong colour, 1 outfit was a replica of what was advertised and looked nothing like the photo, and the 3rd outfit was completely see through and not wearable, that's how thin the material was.
Their customer service is non-existent and they will take forever to respond, when they do it's all a copy and paste standard response. A frustrating company to deal with and i'm at a loss of £100.00 because of them.
*UPDATED TO 3 STARS from 1 STAR - customer service reached out after seeing this review and surprisingly quick responses from senior management compared to the normal customer service WhatsApp number with automated responses. An attempt was made to resolve. I have accepted after several conversations, in order to avoid further communication and close this case! Not a total win but acceptable.
