I had mixed feelings about my experience with House of Indya.
The biggest positive is that their prices are very reasonable, and they have a great range of designs. However, the quality of the items isn't the best, and what I received was quite different from what was shown on the website. I'm not referring to slight variations in colour or embroidery that can happen with online shopping—the styles themselves looked noticeably different from the product photos.
I ordered around 5–7 pieces, including customised items, and unfortunately several of them had issues. I paid extra for customisation, but two of my customised items were made in the wrong sizes. For 2 blouses, I contacted customer service before placing my order and was advised to select size 38. Since there was no option for size 37, I entered my custom measurement as 37 inches and even sent a screenshot of my measurements. Despite this, they sent me a blouse measuring 40 inches. When I raised the issue, they insisted it wasn't their mistake, saying they allow an extra 1–2 inches because of padding. However, the blouse was 3 inches larger than the measurement I had provided. I'm normally a size 36, but I had already allowed for padding by requesting 37 inches, so receiving a 40-inch blouse was clearly incorrect.
Another issue was with a men's outfit. I ordered a size 40 (Medium), but they sent me a size 44 (XL), which was completely wrong. The material was really good though.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the customer service. I had to speak with at least five different customer service representatives and explain the entire situation from the beginning every single time. There was constant back-and-forth, and instead of acknowledging the mistakes, they repeatedly denied responsibility.
After days of going back and forth, I ended up having to write a very long email explaining everything. This happened just as I was leaving for my holiday, which was incredibly frustrating because it took away from what should have been quality time with my family.
Thankfully, after all of this, my case was escalated to Anshul, who handled the situation professionally and offered fair, reasonable solutions. I genuinely appreciate the way he dealt with the matter and wish my experience had started with someone like him.
I also spoke with Aman. Initially, I found him quite rude (and he ended up deleting his message to me), but after I explained my frustrations and told him I intended to take the matter further, his approach changed. He became much more understanding, and that conversation ended on a positive note.
Overall, although the issues were eventually resolved, the entire process was exhausting and unnecessarily stressful. The reasonable prices are attractive, but the inconsistent quality, inaccurate sizing, differences between the website and the actual products, and the lengthy customer service process make me hesitant to order customised items from House of Indya again unless someone like Anshul looks after my needs.
And I forgot to mention I really appreciated the earrings that were sent as well. 😊
