DO NOT BOOK WITH HOTELOPIA

DO NOT BOOK WITH HOTELOPIA. I HAD TO CANCEL A BOOKING DUE TO CORONA VIRUS HITTING ITALY. ALL THE OTHER COMPANIES I USED NOT ONLY RESPONDED TO MY QUERIES BUT EVEN REFUNDED THE MONEY-WHICH WAS NOT EVEN MY PRIMARY GOAL. THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CANT EVEN BE BOTHERED TO RESPOND TO A PHONE OR EMAIL QUERY. THESE ARE EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES AND COMMUNICATION ON THEIR END WOULD HAVE BEEN APPRECIATED. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND! IF I COULD GIVE LESS THAN 1 STAR I WOULD. TERRIBLE!!

I have tried to call you 100 times but no one answers. I have sent you an email but no one answers. I have made an online request on your website but no one answers. I have sent a message here on Facebook but no one answers. Last Friday I managed reach one of your employees on the phone and was promised that she would rebook our trip. I called the hotel and they haven’t got a request from you. You haven’t done what you promised. Please give me back my money.

A positive experience

With so many people sharing their negative experiences, I feel like I have to let the rest of the world know that things worked out just fine for me. I booked through Hotelopia after being very much let down by the bait-and-switch tactics of Nustay (I left a revirew for them too) and because through my employer I have a corporate discount. Because of this I must admit that I didn't research Hotelopia in advance, and after seeing the negative online reviews I must admit I was a little nervous. For my booking everything worked out fine, and because of the corporate discount I got the price I got was definitely the lowest I could find.

I booked a hotel in Barcelona through Hotelopia, all went perfectly.
Called to confirm the hotel had my booking since I read all the negative reviews on Trust Pilot about bookings being cancelled or hotel being overbooked. I finally decided to book through them because I also read many positive reviews I found on eKomi.

I recommend you to check the T&C and read well before booking, also to call and confirm with the hotel well in advance just to make sure it's all ok and not after arrival at the hotel.

I will book with Hotelopia again.

A bunch of crooks

I received a notice from my credit card company about a charge on my account from Hotelopia. I did not make any such charge. When I called their customer service number I was told that they could not help me, that I had to send an email to their accounts department. I found it very frustrating that no one could tell me what was booked with my card or who booked it. I strongly recommend that no one use this company.

Dishonest, Avoid

I booked a hotel for my trip to Bangkok with this company in November of this year. I'd booked it through Google.

I did not receive confirmation from the company, only confirmation that I had paid for the hotel via Google.

I chased them up in January and after 3 phone calls to Spain, I managed to get hold of someone who sent me the confirmation.

The hotel I booked was a 5* and this company had booked me into a 2* and charged me the same amount.

When I queried this, they told me "We wouldn't have done that you must have booked that hotel"

Shocking customer service and quite frankly borderline fraudulent activity.

I am currently in conversation with both Google and my CC which I booked in order to get a refund as this company are now refusing to answer my inquiries. I have now had to book the original hotel through different means.

Bunch of bandits!

While arriving at the hotel booked via…Hotelopia

While arriving at the hotel booked via Hotelopia, I was informed the booking was cancelled by Hotelopia via email. No prior email or any attempt from Hotelopia was made to contact me directly. My booking was made almost 8 days prior therefore Hotelopia had plenty of opportunity to inform me if there was a problem.
Their claim was of no payment received, this was incorrect since I called them and made a payment over the phone, they also sent me an email confirmation and the money was withdrawn from my account immediately. Regardless of this error, I was not able to reach anyone on the emergency numbers, the only available person was in the contact phone number provided to the hotel via the cancellation email the hotel had received. The Hotelopia person that did pick up the phone has made being rude her profession and was extremely unhelpful and hanged up the phone. After almost a month both the hotel and Hotelopia have not repaid for my double booking.

Hotelopia. Absolute Crooks

Booked a hotel with Ryanair Rooms and unfortunately booking was with Hotelopia, got confirmation of booking with reference and rang hotel to confirm, no booking made nd hotel knew nothing about the booking. £110 taken from my credit card and I’ve been told by hotelopia I will get a refund in 15 days as reservation was never made, no apology just told to book again with someone else. I rebooked with booking.com for £135 but at least I know it’s booked now. Rang MasterCard and they said ring back on 8/11. Checkout day of booking as they can’t do anything until then, it’s been one big mess and hours on the phone trying to sort it out. Ryanair don’t want to know they keep saying contact the hotel booker direct as nothing to do with them.
AVOID Hotelopia. Absolute crooks

Despite reading all of the other…

Despite reading all of the other reviews I thought that I would give Hotelopia a go as they were recommended on Health Service Discounts.

I booked a room, on arrival the hotel advised that even though there was a booking on their system, no payment had been received.

Called the line, no response.

Paid for the room again, which just so happened to be cheaper.

Called the line again after making a further payment to the hotel and was advised to email them a copy of the proof of payment to the hotel and they will look into it,

Why they can’t just call the hotel directly themselves and sort it out directly is anyone’s guess.

So here I am waiting for a refund, and if the reviews are anything to go by, I will be waiting for a while....

I booked originally via trivago for a hotel in lido Italy,. Turned out their link was wrong and same hotel name, different place.
But this link was to hotelopia who I had my booking with. Arriving at 2000 hours in wrong resort no fun and at first I didn't know who was at fault
I went on to the customer service to trivago and hotelopia, hotelopia came back with a message saying be in touch quickly.... Still waiting 2 weeks later. However trivago took the blame and asked me to get confirmation from hotelopia that I did not get a refund. I emailed them again for this and what for but after 2 emails never replied.
Lucky for us trivago took our word we got nothing back and within a week had refunded the 3 nights we had to pay again for.
I would never ever because of my emails getting ignored book with them again even if trivago linked me to book through them. They could have cost me £450 of a refund if trivago hadn't put their hands up and insisted on the proof I couldn't get from hotelopia

Hotelopia will do its best to leave you sleep on the street!!!

Hotelopia can leave you sleep on the street without making the slightest attempt to correct their mistakes! I had made a booking for my parents in law and received a booking confirmation. Also, they took the payment for this booking. Then on the day of the check in the hotel said they hadn't received it. When we called the emergency line they said they would give us a refund and that we need to find alternative accommodation as they have no obligation as the booking was cancelled. I explained to them multiple times that I have a confirmation email and that I never cancelled the booking or got a cancellation email or a refund from them until that time. The agent was interrupting me all the time and was unwilling to help in any way. Of course I ended up paying a higher rate as it was last minute. On the complaint I raised they replied once saying they had refund me and they will investigate the issue. No response ever since and it has been more than 3 weeks.

P.S. They are so bad that they even sent me an email to rate my stay at the hotel twice!!!!

No problems, booked in advance

I had a fantastic experience with Hotelopia. I booked well in advance, around 2 months to be exact. I was attending an event at the NEC in BIRMINGHAM for 4 days and needed a hotel for 5 nights. Paypal seemed to have teamed up with Hotelopia and offered a 15% discount, i was over the moon! I booked straight away and got all 5 nights for just over £200 with breakfast for 2 people at the Holiday Inn at Birmingham airport. Not long after i got a confirmation email that it was booked and with payment confirmation.

Even though i had never heard of Hotelopia, i still took up the offer straight away, i got it 1/3 of the price anywhere else was asking! Upon researching Hotelopia i came across a lot of negative reviews and feedback, it had me very worried. At this point i didn't know what to think, i thought it was a scam. I rang the hotel IMMEDIATELY and confirmed everything with them and they reassured me the room was booked and they even received the notes i left on the booking!

Just last week i had one of the best experiences in a Hotel that I've had so far. The room was lovely, the hotel experience was great with room air conditioning and everything we needed to enjoy our time a the Hotel. The trip came to an end and that was it.

Give Hotelopia a try before reading all the negative reviews, i said if the hotel was all good i would leave an honest review and that it is. I would use Hotelopia again, if you're planning to book try book in advance! No problems here.
