Refund for cancellation (COV19)
I have been reading the recent reviews regarding Hotelopia and refunds (due to COV19) to see what others were experiencing before contacting Hotelopia again today. I was going to Seville 2-5 April and Hotelopia cancelled my hotel booking 27 March, saying refund within 5 - 20 working days. I contacted their head office via e-mail 27 April and was sent a reply that they would endeavour to respond within 7 business days, but of course no joy. However as I said before, I thought I would try to contact them again today, but first checked my bank on the off chance that my refund had arrived and it had, I was refunded on 13th May!!! (Thank you Hotelopia).
So all I want to say to everybody waiting out there, fingers crossed they are now getting sorted and you will get your money back soon. I rated them at three stars due to the wait involved. Good luck.
Disgrace to the industry
Cancelled on the 14th March and was informed a refund would happen within 5 - 20 days. No refund and all correspondence from myself has gone ignored. You can't fix this now. I will never ever use you or any of your subsidiary companies ever again. Just do the right thing.
Absolute disgusting behaviour
Absolute disgusting behaviour. Cancelled hotel room, received email confirming refund however money has never been refunded. Advised 5-20 days now over a month. No one answers the phone and no response to emails. I have raised with the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) who investigate unfair business practices. In addition raised with UK Watchdog and ABTA and reported to the police for Fraud, the refund is now insignificant, the principle counts
Worth noting their parent company are Hotelbeds and the majority of their brands appear to to offer the same level of dire customer ethics
Absolute disgrace
Absolute disgrace. Dont reply on mails, dont answer phones. Telling me that i am next in line, waited for over 40 minutes, the call cost me 40 euros and after 40 minutes I gave up. Absolute disgrace. Avoid at all costs.
they literally stole our money
they literally stole our money. We cancelled our reservation on March 20th and they didn´t refund the money yet. When contacting the customer service, they said they had already refund the money. That was on April 21st. Since then they didn´t reply anymore. We are going to report this to the authorities
7 weeks of waiting for a refund... still nothing
I cancelled my hotel March 10. It’s been 7 weeks and still no refund. They told me 10 business days then they told me 6 weeks. Times up. Useless company. Won’t answer calls now.
Update:
Without any communication to me, I received the refund. 8 weeks later. Still totally unacceptable and dismal customer service.
Don't book with them, won't refund for cancellation
Hotelopia won't take calls or respond to emails to refund our money for two cancelled hotels. They are a joke, it's been 6 weeks and not a word from you.
I'd give them 0 stars if that was an option. People just want their hard earned money back and you won't refund it, disgraceful.
Finally received my refund.
I have finally received my refund. So I would recommend holding on to those still waiting.
Just wished that it had not taken so long and there had been better communication. I have always received great service before so will probably use them again in the future.
Just be patient
As previously stated, you have to follow the procedure. I emailed my issue, got an email reply with a case number and waited. And waited. But within their time frame (10 working days I think) I got my reply telling me what to do to get refunded (for a non-refundable booking).
Phone is for travellers within 3 days of departing.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!
Boy was I worried reading some of these reviews!
I booked a hotel with Hotelopia and was concerned when I had not received a confirmation e-mail after a few days.
If you read the info on their website they say only to 'phone if you are leaving within 72 hours. I'm glad this was not me as I believe it is nigh impossible to get through due to the amount of calls during this coronavirus pandemic.
I followed the alternative instruction to e-mail Hotelopia head office to which I received an immediate reply with a 'query created' number advising me I should hear back within 7 days.
2 days later I had my hotel confirmation e-mail! I had been worrying for nothing!
Follow the instructions on their web page and you too might have a successful outcome!
Don't Book!
Booked a hotel in Amsterdam, emailed at the start of April to cancel this booking as the telephone service advised to email head office, I am now on my 10th call the majority have been cut off without getting to a person and when I get through to somebody they put the phone down on me, also the phone line is terrible really hard to hear, the customer service and communication is shocking don't book!
No problem until COVID-19 - now they just want to take the money and run!
***Update: I was immediately contacted by hotelopia following the below review. Despite providing my contact details and getting promises that they will look into the issue, there has been no further contact since. 3+ weeks - very poor show!!!
During normal situations I have never had a problem with Hotelopia but the COVID-19 situation has really shown their true colours. My reservation was non refundable but given the situation the hotel supplier is permitting date changes to non refundable bookings. Tried calling everyday for weeks now and sent several emails (no reply in over 3 weeks). Over an hour each time on hold with god awful music. Managed to speak to someone once only to be told to call back Monday (23rd March). Never been able to speak to anyone since.
I know these are unprecedented times with reduced staffing etc. but Hotelopia should be helping customers with vouchers etc. instead of just taking the money and run. I work for an airline and we are offering vouchers for normally non cancelable flights, why can’t you do this too? It would take the burden off the phones and ensure you have a customer base in future.
My booking for April was cancelled due…
My booking for April was cancelled due to COVID-19 and I am yet to receive a refund of £340. They have not responded to emails or advised when I will receive my money back.
Complete Con - Do not use
Absolutely Terrible. I booked a hotel stay through them for 28th March in London, I have spent 3 weeks trying to get through to them about the booking as we are unable to travel due to Covid19. I called and emailed every day but no answer so now have lost my money on the booking and didn't get to stay. Would never book through them ever again!!
An absolute scam
I would give 0 stars if I could. Hotelopia cancelled our hotel reservation over a month ago, however, have not refunded me. They aren't taking calls, you can't message them on Facebook and they aren't replying to emails. Show some compassion for your paying customers at this time and be responsive.
3 weeks waiting for an answer
3 weeks waiting for an answer, about booking cancellation.
Absolute sham DO NOT USE this shoddy…
Absolute sham DO NOT USE this shoddy company.. I’ve been trying to get hold of them for the past few weeks via telephone and email, nothing..
HOTELOPIA have a little common decency through these hard times that everyone is currently facing.. show some compassion...
Hotelopia worst experience in my life
Hotelopia is joke , I cancel my booking due covid19 pandemia, and refund never back to my account , customer service not pick up calls at all , you can send email but no one will care about it! I lost my money in full !!! Never again with them
Hey Hotelopia or no customer service at all
Hey Hotelopia, if you have a customer phonenumber than it would be nice if someone answers the phone. In the queue since more than 3hours. ARE YOU NUTS???
I need to cancel my reservation but I need to do it via Hotelopia so get on the phone and do your job!!!
