We went to Halfords in Peterborough…
We went to Halfords in Peterborough today to purchase 2 bikes for our 4 year old twins birthdays. I am unable to do stairs but the lift was out of order. The lady at the till pointed out the obvious in that it was out of order. I pointed out that that was not good to me at that time. Instead of trying to find a work around she just said 'thats not my fault'. I just said they had lost a sale and walked out. I am disgusted with the customer service. Surely they should have considered what they could have done to keep the sale instead of pointing out that it is not their fault.
I booked an appointment online to have…
I booked an appointment online to have a car bulb changed. My card was debited, but I immediately received an email stating there was a problem with the booking and advising me to contact the store by phone.
I called the number provided and had to give all of my transaction details, as there was no record of the booking on their system. While this was being investigated, I received a text saying my order was ready to collect in store. I specifically chose Halfords to avoid this exact situation, as I wanted the assurance that I could arrive at an allocated time and have the bulb changed there and then.
I called again and was told they would try to contact the store but were unable to do so. I was then advised I would hear back within 24 hours, which was not helpful as I needed the bulb changed that day. I therefore requested a refund and was told that I would have to go into store to obtain a refund for a product or service I had not received.
Despite requesting a refund, this was not processed. I had to get back in touch for a third time, at which point I was informed that an investigation was being opened. As a consumer, if I request a refund for a service that has not been provided, I should receive it without delay, not be subjected to an investigation, as this goes against my consumer rights.
Overall, this was a very frustrating and prohibitive experience. Rather than offering solutions, the process seemed to create additional problems at every stage. I still have no resolution and no confirmation that I will receive my money back. As a result, I will not be shopping with Halfords again.
A really disappointing experience
A really disappointing experience. We attended the Lowestoft store to purchase a bicycle for our son’s birthday. On the Sunday we visited, there were lots of staff present at the bike services counter who were all standing around chatting about fishing and their plans for their days off. Not one member of staff approached to ask if we needed help etc. This should have been enough to put us off but our son was so excited to get a bike for his birthday that we persisted and eventually interrupted the staff’s chit-chat to ask for help.
We purchased a bicycle which needed to be ordered in and chose to have the bike built in-store at a cost of £10. The young man serving us wanted to ensure we committed to a date (in 10 days’ time) to come into store and collect the bike. We agreed on a date and were told we’d receive an email to confirm that the bike was ready for collection.
The date came and no email arrived. I attempted to phone the store to check whether the bike was ready for collection and was put through to a call centre. I simply wanted confirmation that the bike was ready to collect before my husband took a detour on his commute home from work to collect it. The customer service advisor told me she couldn’t provide me with this information despite me giving her the order number, customer number, date of purchase, model etc and that she would only speak to my husband as the order was in his name. My husband called and was told the bike was indeed ready for collection, despite no email being received as previously advised.
My husband then went to the store to be told by the staff member that they couldn’t find the bike and didn’t believe it to be in stock. My husband repeated the conversation he’d had with the customer service advisor and eventually they went to check again (this took 25 minutes). Eventually, after an awful lot of faff and waiting around, my husband left the store with the bike.
Terrible customer service. Will never purchase from Halfords again.
Generally bad Autoservice across…
Generally bad Autoservice across multiple branches I've visited in the UK.
You're drawn in by brand name, premium membership and apparent benefits, discounts and sales.
What they don't say is they would find the tiniest fault (if not cause one) and make you see it as an essential/major fault that needs urgent repair. It's a marketing gimmick at best if not considered an outright scam.
You're better off paying an apparently initially more expensive quality local garage straight up to avoid pains, delays ,tears and double payments.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs, ordered tyres based on their recommendation after entering registration number, guy turned up and refused to fit them because they weren't the same, even though they suggested them. The whole ordeal cost me a £40 call out fee. Requested a call back from a manager to discuss this, so far I've waited 3 weeks!
Total amateurs
Bought road angel dashcam from Halfords Greyhound Park Chester, including fitting. Total chaos on arrival for fitting. Booked in for two hours, turned up 2.5 hours later still not finished. When done went away but dashcam recording all the time even at night when car parked. Transpires they wired it incorrectly and it cost me £100 to have it put right by someone who knows what they’re doing.
Never go back there
Purchased a bike six months ago
Purchased a bike six months ago. The chain constantly rubbed on the front derailleur. Took it in twice for adjustment by mechanics and still faulty. On the third visit was told I needed a new chain and derailleur, the bike has been used for approximately one hour each week so how can the chain need replacing already. When I questioned this was basically told that’s how it is- very unhelpful or understanding. I politely declined their invitation to spend my money with them and took the bike to a independent specialist who adjusted the gears and fixed the issue immediately, I was told I just wasn’t set up properly and no need for new parts. Bike has been perfect since.
Just had the feeling no interest or care from any of the three people I saw.
thank you Anto, Drogheda
Halford Drogheda .Appreciated the help from Anto who fit bulb and recommend to bring the car to mechanic for other services , agent approachable and kind. Thanks
Avoid Apollo
Order number: 2231054335
I bought an Apollo Evade mountain bike and my god it is awful. I have had issues since October 2025 and have yet to take it out as the build quality is so poor. The brakes are spongy and the front caliper catches on the frame. The gears keep slipping and it's terrible to ride. I have booked it in for a free bike check tomorrow but I'm not willing to chuck any more money at a brand new bike that's not fit for purpose.
I ordered an electric bike from the…
I ordered an electric bike from the website after being in store and told that it wasn’t available. The bike arrived the next day and the whole back of the bike is misaligned and bent. Both mud guards are bent in, one is actually stuck in the wheel. For £550 I don’t expect that!! Been told I have to WAIT for a callback to send it back. Also I thought I was ordering a folding electric bike as the website is misleading, this bike was on the folding electric bike category. Absolute joke from the start!!
Avoid online orders!
Shocking experience with the online service. I ordered a bike as a birthday present and was promised delivery on time, yet two weeks later it still hasn’t arrived.
Customer service has been just as disappointing—after waiting 60 minutes to get through, I was cut off and received no call back. The online chat is no better, with wait times of over an hour.
Clearly there are serious issues with the service at the moment. I wouldn’t recommend ordering anything online.
Terrible Bike Build at Dewsbury Halfords
Bought a Boardman bike for my Sons birthday, expecting a proper build given all the talk about “expert technicians”.
Reality was the opposite. Rear brake rubbing straight away slowing the wheel down dramatically, wheel not running true it has a radial buckle, steering extremely stiff meaning the stem has been over tightened, and even a mark on the stem from a sloppy build.
This should have been a basic setup for a 5 year olds bike! For a brand new bike, it’s poor. This is getting returned for a full refund tomorrow and I’ll buy elsewhere
If you’re claiming to be specialists in bike assembly, this doesn’t back it up.
Worst company, DO NOT SHOP HERE
Bought 3 bikes in Cork store this wk..spent a fortune. The conversation at purchase was that they would make up the bikes for us. We had no transport to allow us carry 3 bikes so we got our father to drive over 100km to collect the bikes in his van. He did so, and when he arrived to drop them off to excited kids, they were STILL IN BOX. We had also purchased other add ons like stabilisers etc that were all promised to come made up. I told the guy in shop I wouldn't have ability to build bikes and he assured me all would be taken care of..im now left with bike in boxes ive to figure out how to return to build or pay someone locally to do. Super frustrating given the conversation we had and promises made. Frustration level 10000... not to mind 3 gutted children
Regarding EY64AEA again
Regarding EY64AEA again
Ive been back to garage on bouges boulevard Peterborough Regarding coolant leak that they supposed to have fixed.i returned to garage just over 3 weeks ago to drop car to them so they could do a pressure test.i was informed that the price to fix it was £5100 which was rubbish.they quoted me last on head gasket but it wasn't.now its the cylinder head gasket failed.ive been told by 2 garages this is not the case.also they have broken the battery terminal cover and lost the cover to top of engine.ive rang twice a week Regarding them getting these parts to put back on car.they are fobbing me off by saying they cant get any in uk.i can get one from Vauxhall next day.im not happy about the attitude and service from the garage and im not messing around by waiting for head office to contact me.im going to be emailing the Ombudsman as this is terrible from a big chain.ive been messed around.given false information.im really not happy.
Went to Halfords Auto Centre today…
Went to Halfords Auto Centre today enquiring about a replacement tyre for my Landrover Freelander. Spoke to a female in reception & was informed they could only supply a replacement tyre for £222.00 I disputed this and told her on the website there were replacement tyres for my car starting at about £96 & just over £100 , she went and looked at the tyre size and was adamant the above price for that car was from £222, I tried to explain she not helpful, dismissive & rude towards me so I left totally disheartened by her unprofessional & couldn't care less attitude. Went to Pro-Tyres at Segensworth Fareham, totally the opposite, great attitude, helpful & professional. Quoted £114.00 for the Freelander tyre supply and fitted. Great service!! The moral of this story, if you want high quoted, rude unhelpful, don't want to listen to the customer go to Halfords!! If you want helpful professional service and a great price go to Pro- Tyres. Simples!!!!
In-Store parts management system pitiful!
The worst on-line purchasing experience I have ever had! They buy in from Euro Car Parts, which are cheaper & more reliable and available over the counter rather than waiting 4 days for my order. Despite receiving a voicemail message confirming parts were finally in, I checked my order on-line before going to store, it stated order collected!
Unreliable parts management system, absolutely Pitiful!
Halfords took the payment but then crashed
Halfords took the payment but the site crashed. Gotta wait 5 days for MY money and get no product. Not ever using Halfords again!
The staff in Halfords Newton Abbot…
The staff in Halfords Newton Abbot could not care less about offering good customer service. You are lucky to get a grunt and if they point using a finger in the direction you need to go. What is the point of them being there, if they do not want to help.

I can't get my refund .I bought a carrera bike grade c for £885,I was just given the bike then they just walked off no help at all I had to ask where the power was everything, no electricity battery key which I asked for , probably lost I was told ! I asked for another one, never got back to me ! I had to have handle bars adapted elsewhere as can never get leicester abbey lane to answer the phone.Dreadful no care at all.No key so I took bike back as I couldn't get on with it.Now they won't refund but under the Consumer act 2015 makes it an implied term of the contract I have with halfords that goods be as described as fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality which they weren't ( no key ) As you are in breach of contract and I ve owned the bike for 30.days or less I am within my statutory rights to ask for a refund. So if they don't refund I will take them to court .Thry have closed the case but I.havent I won't give up.Halfords are dreadful

I visited Halfords Kidderminster at 5.15pm on Saturday afternoon as I wanted to change the pedals on my road bike but couldn't loosen one side. The 2 guys in the bike repairs part of the shop were extremely helpful both in removing the pedal and offering guidance on some grease & tools that I asked for. Thank you, I can thoroughly recommend this store
