Super seamless, got picked up from the meeting spot at the airport quickly, the car was new, and there were no issues at the drop-off. I received the deposit, which was only 150€ with the premium insurance offering, within the same day. Highly recommended.

If you’re going to rent from here take a photo of every part of the car from a dozen angles. We got asked to pay over 500 Euros for a scratch which we would never have seen in our original check of the car, and it was definitely not caused by us (we literally drove it to our house, parked it underground, and left it there, then drove it back to the airport).

I ordered a Mini Cooper Cabrio from their Seville place, expecting to be fobbed off with a soft top Fiat or similar. But no. They provided a fabulous yellow Mini Cooper Cabrio and it made our holiday special. Brilliant fun. Great service too at check in and out.

we got lucky and rented a car that was less than 6 months old. Car was in a very clean condition. Picking up and dropping off the car was sooo smooth. We drove the car back to the car park where we picked it up, where the staff met us for a quick check up and helped us return the key. Took us less than 2min to return the car!

Worst car-rental experience I have had.

Their card terminal did not work, but the staff insisted that the payment failure was my problem.

They showed me a smaller vehicle and claimed it was the category included in my reservation. They then offered a “larger” vehicle for an extra €6 per day. I refused because I had already reserved a larger car. When I received the keys, the supposedly upgraded vehicle was actually the category included in my original booking. It felt like an attempt to charge me extra for something I had already paid for.

The staff also repeatedly pressured me to cancel my Booking.com reservation, book directly with them at a higher price, and purchase additional insurance I did not need. They continued trying to add charges even after I repeatedly said no.

Other problems included:

- Existing vehicle damage was not fully documented.
- I waited hours for the car to be ready.
- The car’s interior was not properly cleaned.
- The fuel gauge initially showed full, but the fuel level dropped unusually quickly. After I refuelled it myself, the same amount lasted approximately three times longer.
- The vehicle’s technical documentation appeared to show that its inspection had expired in 2024, which raised serious safety and legal concerns.

The entire experience involved constant upselling, poor service, long delays, questionable charges, and concerns about the vehicle’s documentation. I would not recommend GOBYCAR.

Based on my experience in Menorca, I would strongly recommend avoiding Gobycar.

I was given a car already covered in scratches, scuffs and imperfections, collected from a dark/poorly lit parking area. On return, they found an absolutely tiny paint chip and charged me €262.50, despite me having no accident or incident during the rental.

I challenged them to provide a pre-rental photograph showing that exact area was undamaged. Their response:

“There are no photographs of parts that were undamaged.”

So there is no before photograph proving this tiny chip wasn’t already there — simply the argument that because it wasn’t recorded at collection, it must be new.

Even more concerning, when I explained that I had independent insurance rather than buying theirs, I was told I “should have taken out your insurance.”

The car also displayed a service warning during the rental and had an abnormal noise from the front wheel area.

After formally challenging the charge, Gobycar refused to reconsider and closed my complaint.

I was actually planning to use Gobycar again in Menorca next year. Absolutely no chance now.

My advice: DO NOT HIRE FROM GOBYCAR. If you do, photograph and video every centimetre of the car before driving away — especially if they hand it over in the dark.

Standard response from GOBYCAR to contact them yet they just fob you off with no new evidence, standard comments in Trustpilot and standard template emails. They have my contact details should they wish to make contact, but they won’t.
