They recently changed how they score…

They recently changed how they score credit and I have gone from years of consecutive perfect (999) scores down to good (859) withh the bar for perfect higher, with no changes in my financial behaviours.

All they've done is shafted people who are financially sensible and won't take out credit cards or make payments they can't afford. Paying for something withh credit and then paying it off, rather than paying with actual money upfront, does not show financial responsibility

Hello KBarl,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I can understand why this has been frustrating, especially when you've managed your finances responsibly for years and haven't changed your borrowing habits.

The changes to our scoring system were introduced to better reflect how lenders assess credit information today. As a result, many customers saw their score move when the new scale was introduced, even though nothing had changed on their credit report. While the number may look different, this does not automatically mean lenders will view your application any differently.

It's also worth noting that lenders do not see your Experian Credit Score. They see the information held on your credit report and use their own lending criteria and scoring systems when making decisions.

I appreciate your point about managing money without relying heavily on credit. A credit score is based on the information held on a credit report and how lenders may interpret that information, but it is not intended to be a judgement of your overall financial responsibility.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and share your perspective.

Thanks, Stefan.

Easy to Navigate

It was easy to find a suitable product, the application when I was switched to the provider was already filled out.

Lost points because I was unable to view individual credit card information.

I also appreciate your feedback regarding the ability to view individual credit card information, and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Kind regards,

Don't bother

I as many people wanted to see what my credit score was. Especially when we are told that firms use these people to decide if we can get credit or not.
So my personal experience is as follows. I signed up for the free credit score check. Brilliant I thought ! I don't owe anybody anything, I have nothing on HP or any loans. My score came back as excellent 1250 you can't get any better. 6 month down the line and nothing has changed. Still nothing on credit no new debt , everything the same. However Experian have suddenly decided that my credit score has dropped by 40 points.
To rectify this and find out why I must subscribe to their app , surprise surprise ! So I will not sign up to be taken the urine out of. I can't believe that firms use this business to dictate your credit level

Hello Tony,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I can understand why this would be frustrating, especially when nothing in your financial situation appears to have changed, and you've seen your score decrease.

We recently introduced a new scoring system designed to better reflect how lenders assess credit information today. While changes to the information on your credit report can affect your score, a movement in your score does not necessarily mean lenders will view you differently or that your ability to obtain credit has changed.

You do not need a subscription to view your Experian Credit Score or Credit Report. These are available through our free membership. Some additional insights and tools are included as part of CreditExpert for customers who want more detailed information about the factors affecting their score.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback and understand why the change has raised questions.

Thanks, Stefan.
