I had been looking at e-cargo bikes for our school run and local business trips, and with a restricted budget I was comparing this brand with Mycle. I sent the spec to my knowledgeable brother, and he immediately said the Estarli was far superior.
I then went to a local bike show to see the bikes in person and try one on a steep slope with an adult on the back. It was easy, stable, and very manoeuvrable.
I bought one the next day with cage and Urban Iki seats. Two years later, we have adapted the bike to suit our needs, with a Wham box on the front and the new gated cage and cocoon on the back. I’m now looking forward to replacing the Urban Iki seats with a long bench to accommodate older children and adults.
This really is a future-proof bike, and I think this British company is future-proof too. With a local bike store as supplier, I’m confident we can keep tweaking the bike as our needs change.
Over the past two years, I’ve only needed customer service once, and they were outstanding. I haven’t needed to maintain the bike either, though I may give it a little treat before a summer of adventure.
I highly recommend both the bike and the brand.
Bike arrived as ordered but missing the range extender . It was promised on several occasions but did not arrive. Finally received it without the bracket for the wire to the seat post . Still hoping this arrives soon.

Hi there bikes are great, we have 2 e20 folding bikes love them but a couple of grips we have the newer models the rubber grommet at front pulls out all the time, the paint chips of easily, do they have a touchup for the grey ?
When folded peddle tends to scratch front mud gard apart from these observations great bike.

This is my follow up (2nd) review following on from my first review, made on 13 April 2026, of our new estarli e20.7. It is VERY impressive. After racking up just 22.9 miles in a total of 1 hr and 45 mins the disc brakes are now nicely bedded in and the bike is beginning to show off its true colours (Bolt Blue actually!). I have just taken it out on a round trip of the worst local gradients up and down roads that are splattered with pot holes and splits and cracks and at peak commuting time with heavy traffic almost everywhere between 08:30 and 09:10 hrs on a cool Thursday morning, here in Benfleet, Essex and the e20.7 has performed like a true thoroughbred. I am gobsmacked. Firstly the built in trip computer tells me that I have 'averaged' 13.14 mph during the 'bedding in' period. For comparison my 1190kg, 74.3Kw micro-hybrid petrol car has averaged only 15 mph over the same URBAN (30mph max) routes on similar local journeys. Secondly the e20.7 eagerly accelerates up to the maximum pedal assisted speed of 15.5 mph and now that the superbly powerful disc brakes have bedded in, the bike transitions easily from 15.5 mph to 17 mph and well beyond on the level, with little or no extra effort on my part. The 250 watt e-motor does not add any noticeable additional drag above the 15.5 mph power assist cut off point. The smooth tan wall 20 inch gravel tyres spin up freely under pedal power alone, well over the 15.5 mph limit of pedal assistance with very little additional effort just like a regular human powered 'push bike' and they grip the road with great confidence and soak up all the bumps on our horrible pitted Essex CC highways. The 7 speed derailleur gears ratios are perfectly suited to my local gradients and to my riding style. Even the steepest gradient, a sustained 14% up Vicarage Hill was effortless just using the full range of the gears and an average speed of some 9 to 10 mph was maintained using the higher power assist levels of 4 and 5. Of the 3 ('licence free' for anyone 14+) EAPCs my wife and I now own, this e20.7 is head and shoulders the best in every respect. Better at hill climbing than my 16 kg mid drive Boardman HYB 8.9e sports bike with its 700c wheels and very wide ranging 1x10 derailleur gears and better than my wife's very solid but 23kg , 7 speed EBCO UCL-20. Remarkably, the estarli e20.7 weighs in at only 18kg including all the accessories that the EBCO has namely, a kick stand, full mudguards, lights and a rear carrier. PLUS the swept back Dutch handlebars are SO much more comfortable than the straight bars on the 'Fazua mid drive motor' equipped Boardman sports bike. The way the gears change on the e20.7 is seamless and enables the best gear to be chosen 'on the fly' on all occasions. Racing the estarli down the 14% gradient was both thrilling and impressive at dealing with all the lumps and bumps at speed and under full control, indeed it visibly 'surprised' several hill climbing SUV car drivers, who were evidently 'cautioned' by the sight of a bicycle bearing down on them at speeds in excess of 30mph with the rider actually pedalling at a fast but still controllable cadence in top gear! I have not had so much (dangerous) fun riding a bike since I was a teenager! The thermal motor drive 'power management' is also very effective and the full 15 mph 'cruising' motor power is restored within seconds of breasting a 1 km 14% gradient at 8 to 10 mph. It handles superbly and feels really safe and solid. Whomsoever designed and built these e20.7 e-bikes deserves an award for brilliance and achievement. Finally, the e20.7 inspires the confidence to sail past stationary or slower moving traffic in the middle of the road, hence the over 13mph average speed recorded on the trip computer! Yes my 18kg, road legal, one third of a bhp, human - electric 'hybrid' e-bike will be as fast as an 1800kg, 180bhp + SUV for urban commuting! This surely MUST become the commuting future since 18kg << Me (65kg) <<1865kg! Just think of all that wasted energy and time with everybody still doggedly commuting in conventional cars and SUVs ! Has the world gone mad or is it just the Engineer in me ?? My 3rd review will consider the comparative range available on the estarli, but so far it is looking to be every bit as good as the Boardman since they both have 252 watt, 36 volt li-ion battery power sources. The big advantage of the estarli is its 20 inch wheels, which make much better use of the modest torque levels available from the 250 watt motors that road legal EAPCs are necessarily equipped with. Considering rider comfort, handling, cornering grip and hill climbing performance, the 20 inch wheels on the e20.7 find the overall 'sweet spot' between the excellent hill climbing ability of a 16 inch wheeled EAPC and the much larger 26 inch + wheels since these typically have much narrower tyres.

eStarli make well designed British built bikes. I picked this company for my first ebike because it would support a British company and spare parts would be easy to come by. The bike is also well made.
The bike smoothly increases the assistance, ensuring I can still go cycling even if there is a strong headwind. The wide range of gears also ensures I can tackle any hill. The front headlight is good at not just increasing visibility at night but provides good illumination of the road in front. Thought has even been made to the fixing of the mudguards, no more rattling screws, they are firmly fixed to the frame.

Responsive communication from Lois and Chloe throughout the process even though there was a slight delay on suspension forks which they were very transparent about. Excellent customer service.

The seat clamp was becoming a problem and would likely fail after the warranty period. After a quick email to discuss the issue a new clamp was dispatched. This is the plus of buying British with a local call centre.

Wonderful service from Estarli. We purchased 2 e20.x bikes. We had a small issue with one of the bikes, they resolved this really quickly, efficiently and with no hassle. Love the bikes really recommend getting the dutch handlebars. Fit perfectly in our motorhome. Good to support a home grown company and know you can get immediate support if you need it.
