Lazy Journalism

If you’re looking for balanced reporting, keep walking — this site has no interest in such luxuries. It’s almost impressive how consistently it manages to present only one side of every story, as if alternative viewpoints are some kind of mythical creature.

The articles read like they were assembled in a hurry, with facts treated as optional accessories rather than the foundation of journalism. Nuance? Depth? Verification? Apparently those concepts never made it into the editorial handbook.

Instead, the site clings to a single narrative and repeats it endlessly, hoping readers won’t notice the missing context or the conveniently ignored details. It’s less “news” and more “echo chamber with a homepage.”

If the goal was to create a masterclass in one‑sided reporting, mission accomplished. Lazy writing, lazy journalism.

Rubbish content full of spam and adverts

The Derbyshire Live web site is one of the worst I’ve ever been on, rubbish stories and articles and it bombards you with spam and ads to the extent every time I go on there (mainly a facebook advert for an article) I give up.
The DET used to be the paper all locals had delivered and read daily so it’s a shame they have gone down the pan like this.

It makes you wonder who acts on the reviews to stop the waste of time site. It's completely unusable and not fit for purpose. It's the same with all the sister sites. Complete garbage. Imagine if you was reading a newspaper and someone was constantly waving leaflets and flyers in front of your eyes. It's the same thing with this unusable load of crap.

Impossible to read

Fine reading the first paragraph, but woeful when you click continue reading. There are far too many adverts, page reloads, content shuffling and videos auto-playing. I now ignore any story published by this media organisation.

Complete S show of a site

Click to read an article which is what I’m here for. For a paragraph it’s fine and then for some reason the article you’ve clicked you want to read then asks if you want to continue reading? Well I clicked the article because I wanted to read so yes I want to continue reading. This is where the fun starts. When you click continue reading the page refreshes which counts as another hit on the website (very scummy) and then proceeds to go hay wire as it throws around 50 ads over the article which inevitably causes the site to crash and reloads resulting in another fresh view so it looks the website has now garnered 3 views by me although it is only the one. It keeps crashing until eventually I give up, usually after 4/5 crashes. The ads are completely out of taste. I’ve tried to read an article about a family being murdered and an ad comes over saying ‘treat the family to a day out at a local play area’ what the actual f? When I’m trying to read about the Rams an ad will come over about Derby being taken over by Chris Kircherner or what Conor Hourihanes best position is. Again what the actual f? They are things that were somewhat relevant over 2 years ago. I’ve emailed DT before and they say it’s the same for every town and city that use ‘live’ well I can tell you it is not. Being a Derby fan I like to take a look at the oppositions point of view on a game so go to their local ‘live’ site. Bristol live for example is immaculate it’s a functioning website you can actually use. ‘live’ definitely has a tier where you can choose the cheap option (which Derby Telegraph and Derby City Council have done obviously with Derby being Derby) which is inundated with ads or a premium version that Bristol use which is actually user friendly and you get to read the actual local news. I won’t even start on the journalism. Leigh Curtis being the biggest click baiter going. When I do click a Derby County article and see him as the author, I never even bother to even try and overcome the crashing of the site as he’s an embarrassment. Seems like he’s about 9 years of age reporting on DCFC topics. All in all should be utterly ashamed of yourselves that this our local official rag.

Website is almost unusable

Website is almost unusable. I can be reading without touching the screen and it’ll crash, take me to another page or randomly scroll me down or have a huge pop up ad every 3 seconds. Worst website I’ve ever been on and I’ve been on ones that give me malware !

Website is pointless on a mobile device, only just better in a desktop. So slow, too many adverts. Cant navigate around, jumps, freezes won't re load. Embarrassing. Don't know who is responsible but surely in this age of technology Derby telegraph could do better. Should be your first point of call if you live in Derby and want news and events.

Really poor website

To many ads, popping up especially when halfway through tying to read something of interest especially when related to Derby County. Will look elsewhere in future for updates and news as this is not a one off, really poor and more than frustrating.

Don't even bother

There is no point even trying to view this website. You click on the link for a story and are immediately blitzed with ads that do not remotely relate to the reason for visiting.

Total waste of time - avoid.

not good

uses the same old system and layout of all of the "live" regional newspapers, completely breaks when loaded in AMP, and one is unable to report racist comments because none of the buttons work, even in non-AMP desktop mode. after much frustration, you swipe left and some genius thought that would be a good gesture to go to the next article

Terrible

A website full of spelling, grammar, and syntax mistakes. Too many shopping stories are covered as news or Martin Lewis advice and terrible local knowledge, often listing places in the wrong location.

Lazy rubbish journalists

Lazy rubbish journalists, recycling old news and jumping on the bandwagon in the desperate hope of getting more readers despite being factually incorrect. Reporting customer opinions as gospel. Utter trash
