Very unprofessional union
I joined Dansk Metal during a very stressful employment situation. I only used the fagforening membership (not A-kasse), and still paid 600 DKK per month.
When I initially asked for help, I was told they could only review things after termination papers were presented. At that point, I questioned what exactly I was paying for.
I remained a member for almost a year hoping for meaningful legal or professional support. Although one representative communicated with me and attended one meeting, I never received any serious review of my salary, vacation conditions, or employment situation. Most advice was generic and not worth the membership cost.
Later, when I was offered an exit agreement by my employer, Dansk Metal simply advised me to sign it. There was no real negotiation or strong support despite the difficult circumstances I had experienced at work for many months.
The most disappointing part came when I decided to cancel my membership. The cancellation process itself was unnecessarily difficult, and after I contacted them to leave, I received a phone call from a representative who raised his voice at me, accused me of “using” the union, commented on my personal finances, and pressured me to remain a member. It felt highly unprofessional and very uncomfortable.
I joined Dansk Metal hoping for guidance, protection, and support. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I regret not reading the reviews beforehand.
