Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 51 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the quality of the product, especially after recent formula changes. Customers frequently reported that the color results did not match expectations or the shades shown on the box. Reviewers also found that the product often failed to cover grey hair effectively and washed out quickly. The new formulas often led to hair feeling dry, brittle, or damaged, and some experienced scalp irritation. Additionally, some users encountered issues with the product's consistency, finding it either too thick to apply evenly or too runny, leading to messy application and staining.

Nice & Easy have changed their formula…

Nice & Easy have changed their formula and we have had many complaints in our salons from customers wanting us to recommend another hair colorant as the dye their hair at home, i have tried it and it is a horrible product they have changed to and would not advise any customers to use it, where hair dressers for years have said it was a good home product,
BUT NOT ANYMORE

Hair Disaster!!!

So I attempted to lighten my golden locks from blond to blonder last night and it has turned my beautiful golden hair brown!!!! I'm so upset and angry. I read a review from January of this year and apparently they have had a faulty batch of blond hair dyes with the incorct coulour bottles. Beware all.

Post covid 19

I used to use nice and easy all the time. Never had any problems and used the product for years.
I had covid in November and this has been the first time that I added a nice and easy hair dye since having covid.
Within a couple of minutes my head and neck was burning, I had to wash off immediately.
Just a warning to anyone who has used nice and easy previously that it can now have a reaction.

Used nice and easy for years

Used nice and easy for years, never had a problem. But now it’s changed my hair went patchy and orange tint.
Went to hairdresser to try and fix it but dark blonde went black.
Please change back else I’ll never use it again

Has the formula changed?

What has happened to the permanent hair dye? I’ve happily used 07 Dark Blonde for years, I purchased some (in the new packaging) to do my roots and the grey roots came out a disgusting gingery/yellow colour. Thought I hadn’t left it in long enough so tried again a few weeks later and the same thing happened. Awful product now, no more nice and easy for me.

Buy another make - this one is useless

Like everyone else on this page, I, too, have used this for decades. Not any more. I thought it must be my fault, must have done something wrong...But no. Wasted another box after that, same thing happened (or didn't!). I will be trying out other makes from now on. What a complete waste of money and time.
Such a shame, this was one product I thought I could rely on.

Hair dye for grey coverage . Absolutely awful and not fit for…

Absolutely awful and not fit for purpose. If I could leave NO Stars I would have!
One week ago I tried their blonde 100% grey coverage hair dye. Put it on as per instructions. Left the dye the allotted time. Hey presto ! Still very grey.
It was so bad I tried a different shade. This time 10 A ‘baby blonde’
Followed the instructions to the letter , for grey coverage. Absolutely useless. Do not purchase this for grey coverage.
It is not fit for purpose and they are in breach of the law claiming this. I am not interested in a refund. I just want people to not waste £10 money plus time on a useless product!
Sorry Clairol but this is dishonest and your company must know that they are taking money under false pretences.
Other companies products do work on my hair. I wish I had paid more atttention to the previous company names and not trusted Clairols lying claims.

ADVICE if you want yellow hair this is for you!

I have used nice n easy for decades - Dark Blonde. People used to say that you would never know that I put a rinse in my hair. Now my granddaughter draws me with yellow hair! Others just stare! Has anyone found a good alternative to Nice n Easy that they would recommend? I contacted customer services and was advised to use Lightest Brown (the next darkest shade). It came out mid brown. Disaster!

Kudos!

I just want to send a kudos for your PKG team. I colored my hair this morning and discovered you changed the colorant and conditioner tubes to different colors! THANK YOU! The white tubes with the gold numbers didn't work for me. Very hard to read especially when you take off your glasses to color! In fact, one time I put the wrong tube in the bottle and then didn't understand why my hair didn't color well. On top of that when I washed my hair using conditioner it smelled! So thank you again for recognizing the problem and making a simple change to make your product better.

Bought my usual hair colour 6.5

Bought my usual hair colour 6.5, still had a box left from a previous buy but I have noticed the ingredients on the new box now has added ammonia whereas it didn't before. I now have a problem as this now burns my scalp I have also noticed on the clairol site that it says ammonia free. Clairol you need to change your description of ingredients as the nice n easy is not ammonia free

NEVER TOUCH THIS PRODUCT

If you’ve got nice, thick hair DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. I had long thick hair, i had used other dyes to dye my hair brown before and no issues with any other brands, however thought i would try nice n easy this time and it has truly recked my hair, I regret it so much. My hair is now dull wispy and i have experienced major hair loss. After reading these reviews i know i’m not alone and i am disgusted that they have changed their formula to a cheaper alternative just for more profits. I am 16 years old and my hair is now so damaged never using this again please don’t support them.

If It’s Not Broke, Leave It Alone

I’ve been using Clairol Nice & Easy light blonde color for 20 years with good results in covering gray roots approximately every 6-8 weeks. With this new formula, there is very little gray coverage and it lasts about a week. The color is orangish now and I’ve lost clumps of hair during the coloring process. Why would you mess with a product that people have been using for so long and are happy with?? Maddening! Now I have to switch brands.

Changed formulas and terrible customer service!

I have been using this hair dye for decades and still liked it even in the new odd shaped packaging recently introduced BUT a couple of weeks later on buying more, I notice the packaging has changed Yet again (pictures are worse and not attractive and box is now square again) . Shoved the stuff on my hair as usual only to find after rinsing it that it had no effect and my hair had barely changed colour other than a tint of red! Phoned customer services and got some foreign woman who could barely speak English telling me it was my fault for not doing a strand test! The packaging instructions 2 weeks ago said do NOT leave on longer than 25 mins (even though I always did) the new ones now say up to 35 mins. Foreign woman tells me it’s been made weaker to be kinder to skin. Yeah right, weaker to get less product for the price more like. Took two boxes to do my hair and am now £10 out of pocket. I usually dump dye on my hair twice a month with no reactions, hair loss or any of the other things I’ve seen people complaining of but I only use the blonde and red so maybe the darker colours cause hair loss. Either way, if you buy this stuff be warned it no longer works in 25 mins. For a serial dyer even I baulk at the idea of dying my hair twice in 24 hours! Will still use and just leave on for longer and I’ve no problem with being strawberry blonde but could have looked pretty nasty if I’d tried a major change. I think the packaging should have made clear the formulation had changed though as the ‘same great crime colour’ was very misleading because it is not the same at all.
