Brewers Fayre Reviews 

My party of 8 arrived at 1630 with a table booked for 1730 for a carvery meal only to be informed that the carvery (advertised from 1200 until 1800) had finished because the establishment are only supplied with a limited amount of product! We ordered from the a la carte menu which was disappointing to say the lease. Lasagne microwaved and burnt as were the onion rings! Chicken as dry as old boots. Eggs rubbery. Never again.

We had fish and chips for lunch. Very nice meal with a generous serving. Served by Chris who was very attentive and chirpy.

Good food and friendly service from Brewers Fayre at Chufford Hundred.

We arrived at 4.30pm today (made a previous booking). We waited 1 hour & noticed everyone that arrived after us had there food. So asked if they had forgotten us! They said our main course had not gone though but the desert choices had! They apologised & said we would have our meals as a priority! But 20 minutes later we saw people that had only just come in & ordered be served their food! So eventually we asked for a refund & left! We felt invisible!!!
Don't go on a Friday perhaps??

I am a disabled pensioner, and am an injecting diabetic with heart issues - including a pacemaker. I travel with my trained/certified assistance dog.At about 1pm I went to the Drove in Newhaven to have a meal (in order to keep my diabetes stable). This restaurant welcomes "well behaved dogs on a lead". Clearly my assistance dog falls into that category. On entering the premises, a staff member welcomed me and assisted me to put my vehicle registration number into the car park registration system. He then showed me where we could sit, location of menus, cutlery etc. So far, so good....... my dog (on a short lead) came with me to the bar to get a menu when all hell let loose when a customer's dog (i cannot identify the breed) started barking and aggresively attacked my assistance dog. The dog was not on a lead and was not under the owner's control. The owner was shouting to me "You c**t get your dog off him". My assistance dog stayed very close to and it was obvious that my dog did not know how to react as he has never been in such extreme danger in his 13 years of life. The owner, still aggressively shouting and using incredibly vile language started throwing books and games at me, several hitting me and my dog quite hard. The staff did not initially intervene. A nearby customer approached me and kindly identified himself as a serving police officer. He and a lady who i now know to be his mother assisted me back to my vehicle. I became quite ill and wanted to leave the premises incase of a reoccurrence. The perpetrator of this assault was continuing to be aggressive and blaming me for the assault. I suffered chest pain, shaking badly and a cold sweat. I also suffer from urinary issues.

a long wait for food, 45 mins, when it wasn't really busy.
we both had a mixed grill which came and looked nothing like the photo on the menu, the sausages were smaller, the meat thinner and what looked about half the amount of chips.
The steak was 'chewy to say the least, the chicken breast was very thin and dry and the gammon tasteless.
No one came to ask how our meal was and 15 mins after we finished our meal he plates were still there and again no one asked our thoughts.

we used to go regularly but standards and portion sizes have really gone downhill of late and the menu choice has been reduced also

Our visit to the Sandpiper Llanelli is worthy of commendation..a busy Saturday lunchtime service. Today our food was fantastic. Mixed grill and smothered platter. It looked really good on the plate. The food was delicious..we took our time and savoured it. We know, because it's a very popular venue that its difficult to attain the standard we enjoyed today. Full Mark's to staff.

We had a brilliant experience at Castlewood. The service from Lisa and Sarah was outstanding – warm, friendly, and really attentive, making us feel welcome from start to finish. They went the extra mile to ensure everything was just right, and it made such a difference to our visit. Great atmosphere, great service – we’ll definitely be coming back!

If you want to be insulted and screamed at by the worse manager I have ever come across, go to Brewers Fayre Minehead.
Having used the restaurant in the past with no problem, it seems they have decided to employ the most lying disrespectful manager in the country, anyone who calls a customer a tosser after pointing out his flaws should not be in a managers position. I will be taking legal advice against this company.

Service was good. Waited a while for the food to arrive (Party of 10) but was disappointed with the portion size. For £11.80 for a Cheese and Bacon burger I would expect more. This was like looking at a child portion. Was nice enough but not enough in my view.

We had a meal at the Swallow Ipswich. We both had haddock and chips. It was dripping in fat as you cut into the fish the fat poured out. We had to leave the batter and just eat the fish. This left us feeling still hungry. One waitress asked if the meal was alright. We said no and explained what was wrong. All she said was oh that happens with the batter and just took our plates away. Won’t go back there again.

Lovely staff, greeted with a 😃. Returning customer. Breakfast is beautiful. Tastes as good as it looks.

Went to knottingley turnpike ,served by Jess, she was so kind and helpful . She clarified parts of the menu for us . When she brought the food very polite and asked us if there was anything else we.

Today’s visit to Brewers Fayre was with friends. Seemed to be not many staff about, but the lady who served us was polite and pleasant. We placed our order then waited for our food. We waited and waited and waited. It arrived after 35 minutes. The waitress apologised for the wait. Then after we had eaten we waited. And waited and waited for our table to be cleared, but eventually she came and cleared our table and said she’d bring our puddings. And yes, you guessed it…puddings arrived after approx half hour. So I can honestly say this will be our last visit to Brewers Fayre, as our last time there was a disaster too.
Our previous visit to Brewers Fayre was dire. Such slow service, I mean unbelievably slow, I eventually took our dirty dishes up to the bar hoping that would prompt them to serve our puddings. The member of staff was standing our side of the bar talking to a man who was an engineer and not a customer. An elderly man approached her and said “excuse me”to her. She replied “ can’t you see I’m talking to someone, I’ll get to you in a minute. And her tone of voice was quite forceful and disdainful. I was shocked, couldn’t believe I’d heard such blatant rudeness. I butted in to her conversation and asked for our puddings to be served. Went back to our table and waited for our puddings. After half an hour… we left after getting too angry to wait any longer. Shocking service

Visited Brewers Fayre Hayle and genuinely wish I hadn’t. We waited over 10 minutes just to be shown to a table, with no staff in sight. Once seated, we were greeted with a menu that was more “wishful thinking” than actual options—most items unavailable, with vague excuses about deliveries and being short-staffed.

The atmosphere? Grim. Staff looked miserable and disengaged, which sadly matched the level of service: nonexistent. We had to walk out twice—yes, twice—because of lack of menu choice and waiting times.

This wasn’t a one-off bad day. It felt like a place that’s given up trying. If you value your time, your money, or even just basic courtesy, go elsewhere.

Went to Brewers Fayre Cockermouth on Tuesday evening.
A definite improvement from our last visit in an evening.
Staff were professional and polite.
Food was good and plentiful.
The restaurant is struggling to keep staff due to staff being trained in health and safety etc., by Whitbread and then being poached by other establishment, mainly air bnb establishment around the Lake District!
They are pretty much doing the best they can under difficult circumstances.

If your looking for a fantastic Sunday lunch look no further. good selection of meats along with a good variety of veg, staff are welcoming on arrival but remember you do need to book in advance.

Chef on the carvery has great conversation with the public and goes out of his way to make sure customers are satisfied.

Prices are reasonable and if you have discount vouchers this can reduce your bill considerably.

Possibly my only issue and this wouldn't bother a lot of customers the outside seating area is a little untidy and could do with a little TLC.

Waited over an hour for our food which was not very nice. People was coming eating their meals and puddings and leaving before we even got our dinner!! Food was awful, and forgotten items when finally received. one server was very rude.
Only good thing I would say is they have games and colour in stuff for the children.
One member of staff went above and beyond to help us with our problems. I can’t thank him enough. It’s a shame I didn’t get his name.

I have had lunch here before and wasn’t at all impressed. However I came in today as my car was being serviced so wanted to have somewhere to have a cup of tea. The staff were absolutely wonderful, were more than happy for me to have breakfast and relax while waiting. The breakfast was lovely with a huge choice of things to have. I will be coming back in a couple of weeks to treat the kids!! Thank you so much.
