Currently waiting on an independent inspection to be completed by the finance company on a car I purchased. Which has been sold with undisclosed modifications meaning it won’t pass an MOT. All seemed fine till it was took for a service and was informed of the ILLEGAL modification.

Just bought a car from Joshua Green at Border City Autos, it was my first ever car purchase so for me it was quite a big deal. As soon as I enquired I had a personalised video on the vehicle taking me through all the work that was due to be carried out on the vehicle. The car was fully prepped and ready within a week and when I came to pick it up it was perfectly presented and everything Josh said he promised he would do, he did. Went over and above to answer all the questions I had, and even helped me with setting up my insurance. Couldn’t recommend a better garage to buy a car from.
Untrustworthy and Disgraceful
I viewed a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in August 2024, I found several issues the main one being air suspension issues, Border City Autos 20 ltd agreed to complete all the repairs before collection they cancelled the collection date 3 times, I finally picked the vehicle up on Saturday 14th September 2024, not a single issue had been repaired.
I took the vehicle back to Carlisle bearing in mind I live in the Durham area, when I arrived the service manager stated he would contact the warranty company (I had paid for) I objected and explained as the issues were present when the car was viewed it was the responsibility of Border City Autos to repair the vehicle not the warranty company, as a result they had the vehicle all day and done nothing other than when I turned up at Border City Autos after waiting in Carlisle all day, they were plugging a diagnostic machine in so I had to wait another hour.
The vehicle over heated on Wednesday 6th November 2024 and was rejected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, due to none of the outstanding issues being successfully repaired as well as the overheating issue, as all issues were present at the point of sale, also there was evidence of Rad-Weld in the coolant tank.
When I purchased the vehicle, I told the salesman I was a disabled veteran and need a reliable car and they sold me this specimen of a vehicle, the rejection process has only just been fully completed, (March 2025)
Also Border City Autos have since attempted to re-advertise the vehicle with 112,000 miles the vehicle had 114,000 miles when rejected.
I will be leaving comprehensive reviews about Border City Autos 20 LTD, on other review sites as well as contacting Trading Standards and the Warranty Company regarding the outstanding issues, as an Independent Engineers Report was completed on the vehicle.
If this is how Border City Autos 20 LTD, treat Disabled Veterans, then nobody is safe.

This is my honest review of border city…
This is my honest review of border city auto's.
In june i saw a car that i liked so decided to have a test drive in it.
After a test drive i agreed to buy the car but i wanted the scratch on the door to be fixed as a condition of sale,to which the salesman agreed.
Alarm bells should have rung when i saw him put it on the work sheet but not on the receipt of sale which i singed.
A week later i went to pick the car up but i noticed that the scratch was still there but the salesman said it should have been fixed.
Just as i was there the boss was in the office and went to have a look at it then he pretended to go on the computer and said he had ordered the paint and he would ring me when it came in so they could fix it,i am still waiting nearly 6 months later.
So that is the first lie that he told me.
I had the car about 2 weeks when the brake warning light came on and realized that it needed new brake pads.
After checking the wording of the warranty i seen that brake pads were not covered so i had to pay for them myself.
I was told by my usual garage that the front ones had been changed recently but the rear ones were dangerously low.
So two weeks after this i noticed a knocking noise whenever i went over a speed bump or uneven road so i rang Border city auto's and informed them about this,i was told to bring it in and they would fix it.
A week later i took it in and left it all day just to be told that they couldn't find anything wrong so it is nothing serious but to take it back if it got any worse.
Fast forward four weeks and the problem got worse so i rang them back and informed them,i was told to bring it back in and they would have a look.
Again i took it in and left it all day and when i rang up i was told that the mechanic was putting a new part on as we speak,great i thought.
An hour later they rang and said it was ready to be picked up so i went to get it.
When i arrived the boss was waiting and told me that they had put a new part on and that he had been on a good run in it and everything was ok,soon after i learned that this must have been yet another lie.
He also said that they had greased the steering column and the door hinges.I wish they had fixed the problem it went in with more than putting some grease on the door hinges.
To my knowledge there was nothing wrong with the doors.
I didn't even get any paperwork to say what they had done.
I had driven the car about 20 yards off the forecourt and heard the knocking noise again.
I thought to myself ive had enough of this cowboy outfit so i took it to my ususal garage.
After 10 minutes the mechanic had diagnosed the real problem and it was fixed a few days later.
Border city auto's had put a new anti roll bar link on but that was not the problem.
He also told me any mechanic worth his wages should have been able to find this problem with no fuss at all.
Although i was happy with the price i paid for the car the after care that this company provide is shocking.
The boss is i liar and i feel that once they have your money they don't care at all.
All in all i would advise anybody who is thinking of buying a car from here to be very careful.

I have recently got a van on finance from Bordercity autos I couldn’t have done it without Sam help she went above and beyond to help me right through getting it as I have mental health anxiety and depression and a learning disability lack understanding and vice versa and on benefits finance was hard to get Sam helped me source finance as I am gradually going self employed delivering parcels 2 days a week increasing my car wasn’t ideal and it was becoming unreliable Sam was understanding and helped me through out van was serviced mot jobs done on it van was valeted warranty on it and nicely cleaned like a new van I would recommend bordercity autos they go above and beyond good customer services nothing is to much trouble thanks Sam and team at border city autos
COWBOYS
Had to get a new CV boot on my car which ended up taking them a week to do after endless phone calls of chasing them up. Was told when I first rang they didn’t have a trained mechanic but yet still were able to do the work. In the end, they charged the 4 times the amount other garages had quoted and acted like it was Cheep.
Crooks
DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE, Bought a focus had a vacuum pump fault took back been fixed 3 times still not fixed. Rewound the finance. Swapped car for a Transit had it 5 mins got round corner and went into limp mode. Attitude of the staff is disgusting, total cowboy company. Stay clear

2nd car I have purchased and the staff are lovely, helpful and go above and beyond for you. I was picked up from the train station by Darren (lovely bloke) as my mam has COPD and had my new car in 30 minutes. Also thanks for all your help and advice with my insurance. I will definitely be using Border City Autos again. You really make things easy for people and I can’t thank you enough the car is amazing I’m absolutely chuffed with it. Could not do enough for me
Could not do enough for me. Kept in touch with me to let me know about how my new car was being processed. Went above and beyond to give me the best product. New service and Mot, new tyres etc. The sales rep, Dave, was really helpful and friendly and even contacted me after the sale to check everything was OK. I will buy my cars from there in the future and will recommend it to friends
