I have found them to be disappointing…
I have found them to be disappointing compared to other health insurance providers. I broke my ankle and was referred for orthopaedic follow up by A&E doctors but BHSF rejected my subsequent claim for an orthopaedic consultant appointment on the basis that I had not got an additional referral letter specifically from my GP. This seems to be a technical clause to avoid their liability rather than any genuine attempt to mitigate fraud, so I concluded they don't actually care at all about customer satisfaction

While comprehensive in nature, our policies do not cover every medical condition/ injury, or product/ service/ item/ treatment an individual can purchase in respect of their own personal wellbeing. The premiums for such a plan would be extremely expensive, and BHSF aim to provide a good range of cover for a reasonable premium. This is why our T&Cs clearly list what is covered, and the requirements that must be met for such claims.
This unfortunately means that there are things out there which aren’t covered by our policies. However, we’re always happy to hear feedback on things Policyholders may wish for us to consider including. If you have any suggestions, please get in touch with our Helpdesk directly and let us know. Also, it’s always worth reviewing your policy T&Cs, as while X may not be claimable under a certain benefit, it may be claimable under a different one instead. We’ll be here to help if wished, so please let us know if you’d like us to look into things further for you.

Claims are paid promptly.
I have recently had email correspondence with Neil Ryder, he was very empathetic to the diagnosis that I have received in the past few weeks.
