The automatic service from ben is a…

The automatic service from ben is a disaster. Renewals are, according to their system and emails, processed but you won't get the data/ minutes or new price for the new contract you sign at the start date. This goes for extra bundles as well, which is terrible because those are there to activate immediately in case you need a bit more data/ minutes. 0/5 stars.

Best in the Netherlands.

I have tried most of the providers in the Netherlands and for me Ben is the best.

Low price, very good reception, and most importantly simple and easy to use.

I would definatelly recommend.

How BEN failed me spectacularly

This is my 5th review here because despite spending hours trying to solve this BEN will not solve it.

It is also a warning to people thinking about joining BEN, I've been a customer for MORE THAN 9 YEARS and they're treating me like sh•t.

They have also given me completely conflicting information numerous times.

BEN insist that I cannot cancel a subscription that I cannot use and that I have to pay for a remaining 1.5 years of subscription fees.

The timeline:

26 Sept. '24. I called BEN to ask about the possibility to switch from a SIM card to an eSIM. I'm informed this is possible. I try to activate the eSIM, but it doesn't work. Because activating an eSIM automatically deactivates the regular SIM card, I can no longer call or receive any calls.

27 Sept. I contact the customer service via chat and reach Mariem. She tells me that a BEN eSIMs can never be activated abroad. BEN doesn't inform customers in advance that this isn't possible.

Mariem says that I'm now unfortunately stuck with my BEN subscription for the next 1.5 years (!!!!) without being able to use it. "Too bad", she tells me. When I ask to speak to a manager, Mariem ends the chat and effectively hangs up on me.

Also on 27 Sept. I write my 1st complaint to BEN here on Trustpilot because I don't accept having to pay for 1.5 years of phone subscription that I cannot use in any way. The response to my review is: have someone send you a SIM card from the Netherlands. Even if that were possible, I would still absolutely need an eSIM.

I contact BEN via their online contact form asking to end my subscription as I cannot use it. I'm told I will hear back in 3 business days. I hear nothing back. Zero response.

7 October. I phone BEN on +31624001405 - their number for customers abroad. I'm being told that to end my subscription, I need to send an email to "BEN administratie", which I do.

10 October. I get an email back from Joost that having a non-functioning SIM card and unusable subscription is NOT a reason for BEN to end my contract.
He also states that my eSIM is somehow magically activated (?!?!) despite several BEN employees insisting that a BEN eSIM can ever be activated from abroad.

I write my 2nd review about BEN here on Trustpilot, complaining about Joost's response. I'm being asked by BEN to phone them again.

11 October. Given how unreasonable BEN is being, I decide to end the subscription for reason of emigration and send BEN a document with proof for having moved abroad.
I moved abroad 5 years ago now so it is a legitimate reason. And according to BEN's own website, you can end your subscription without any further costs or fees when you move abroad.

15 October: a response from an anonymous customer service employee: "Please send in proof that you have emigrated."
I sent yet ANOTHER document from the Dutch city council confirming my new address abroad.

24 October. I've heard nothing back, so I send an email via the BEN customer contact form on their website.

I write my 3rd review about BEN leaving me hanging for NEARLY A MONTH by this time with a subscription I cannot use.

28 October. I call BEN again on their number +31624001405. I choose the option "cancellations" from the menu.
From here, I'm TWICE transferred to the wrong department. The 3rd person I speak with furiously tries to find my details before he tells me that he works for ODIDO. BEN transferred me to another company!!
Again 45 minutes wasted on the phone with no resolution.

1 November. Another call to BEN customer service and FINALLY, FINALLY I speak to someone who - after conferring with their manager - tells me that BEN will cancel my subscription for reasons of emigration without any cancellation fees.
If I want to keep my Dutch phone number, I can switch to another Dutch provider before 26 Nov. 2024.

I also receive a confirmation of all this via email.

24 November. My new provider of choice informs me that they cannot take over my Dutch number because BEN doesn't accept this transfer.

TODAY- You've guessed it: I'm on the phone to BEN again. After 20 mins of speaking with an employee who can't help me, I'm transferred to Kelly who is apparently a manager. She tells me:

"BEN does not allow subscriptions to be cancelled without fees for reasons of emigration. "

No? Well, BEN's own website states the opposite.

There is NO record, Kelly claims, that her colleague has ended my subscription without fees for reasons of emigration

That is strange given that I was sent a confirmation email of my cancellation confirming all this!!

Dear reader,
is it any wonder that BEN has such terrible delays and long waiting times in responding to calls and emails when they clearly waste so much time on bureaucratic nonsense?

2 months of calls and emails wasted on trying to end ONE SINGLE SUBSCRIPTION.

Cheating with renewal rules

Internet service is mostly ok. But turns out you even though they show you an end date on your personal login screen, your subscription will still be renewed automatically.
And when you want to cancel, you'll pay for an extra month.

worse customer service

worse customer service.
They do not want to follow the contract that agreed and want to always add extra month to close the contract even you have fixed term contract👿 and customer service is totally worse, they put you on hold and until the next agent will pick up the call so you will waist houses of your time without any outcome.

Reliable provider

Great overall experience: the bundles have good options, the app works well (tracking the consumptions is something that I value and the app was flawless in this regard) and the service has been very reliable.

NEW SIM OR TELEPHONE subscribers I just wanted to remind you about the following very important NOTE:
Stay away from those two (BEN and BELSIMPLE) scam self-centered, incompetent, unfriendly, unhelpful companies. I had a 2-year contract and completed the contract and asked for an official confirmation letter stating the contract was paid and completed. Although those two service providers initially processed my subscription contract together and were 100% business partners
However, neither of these companies is willing to cooperate and resolve my inquiry. Indeed! When such an incompetent bunch of unprofessional runs a big company, you will face big disrespect and ignorance.

This company does not send warning…

This company does not send warning texts and just extremely high bills for.minimal internet use.

Example: my bundle should work in both france and England. While taking the ferry from calais to dover i did not even touch my phone but Ben sends me a massive bill for using a Norwegian maritime server!!!!!! Which they refuse to pay back. Besides this the employee just hang up on me even though i was being very reasonable. Worst provider i ever heard of.
