Not Reliable
I would have given a zero star if the option was there. I bough the item and it was promptly sent. The padlock was missing and when I notified Barriers Direct, they wanted to see a picture of what was sent. I referred them to the Order as that would have shown what the post looked like. They then sent me another email asking me to send the packaging. I did not even bother to reply. Once I get the post installed, I will buy a padlock but this will be the first and last time to buy from them.

The product you ordered was advertised as including a padlock, so had the padlock been missing, we were absolutely willing to investigate and resolve this for you. However, when you contacted us, our manufacturer asked us to provide photographs of the post, its packaging and the built-in base. This is a standard part of investigating a missing component, as it allows them to establish whether the item was omitted during packing or whether it may have become detached or lost in transit. In this case, the manufacturer confirmed that the padlock is normally secured to the base of the post before dispatch.
We therefore asked you for the photographs requested by the manufacturer so that we could establish what had happened and arrange the appropriate resolution. Unfortunately, we were unable to take the matter any further because the requested information was not provided, despite us following up.
We appreciate that providing photographs may have seemed unnecessary from your perspective, but it was a genuine step in resolving the issue rather than an attempt to avoid doing so. Had we received the requested photographs, we would have been able to continue the investigation with the manufacturer and work towards resolving the missing padlock for you.
We’re sorry that this process led to you feeling let down, but we hope this provides some context around why the information was requested.

Hi there, I am sorry to see you were disappointed and left us a 1* review. On checking your order history, it looks as though you mistakenly ordered the wrong item - originally you ordered concrete in bollards but in fact required bolt down bollards. This may be why you were led to believe the bases were missing, but I cannot confirm this without further detail.
I believe you were in talks with our support team to make alternative arrangements for the remedial bollards. I trust that the matter is resolved and I hope this does not deter you from buying with Barriers Direct again.

Obstructive returns policy
As a motoring/campervanning photojournalist and someone who has professionally converted campervans motorhomes, and boats, I like to think I have some idea if a thing works or not. I bought two floor mounted bicycle front wheel holders which on arrival were way too small for modern 29” bike wheels. Too small in fact for the older 26” wheel. The website gave a width description, but not a wheel-size indicator - this should be generic geometry for taking standard wheels.
The ability to return the holders was fraught with baseless obstruction, and a £20 + VAT return charge.
This is bad business to sell/ship an item via another manufacturer and not take responsibility for the product.
This bodes badly for the telesales/customer services culture behind the scenes of this company.
If it’s product detail you’re after, shop elsewhere.

One of the challenges with this type of product is that compatibility isn't determined by the stated wheel size (such as 26" or 29") alone. Tyre width and tyre profile vary considerably between bicycles, even where the nominal wheel size is the same, and these factors affect how securely the wheel sits within the support arch. The holder has been designed to accommodate a broad range of commonly used bicycles, particularly those fitted with wider tyres, but we appreciate this can lead to different results depending on the exact wheel and tyre combination.
We also understand your frustration regarding the return costs. Our returns policy, including any applicable return charges, is available on our website and is accepted during the checkout process. That said, we appreciate your feedback, as it has prompted us to improve the information available to future customers.

Common sense needed!
The delivery arrived as promised, but was so thoughtlessly packed on the lorry that if it hadn't been for Nathan, the lorry driver, going far beyond his remit to get them unloaded (by which I mean manhandling heavy concrete bollards at no small risk to himself) the delivery would have had to be rescheduled.
I suggest your packing and despatch team take a course in practical common sense!
Other than that, very happy with the products themselves.

As detailed on our product page, these bollards are delivered with mechanical kerbside offloading, and customers are responsible for moving the products beyond the point of delivery. That said, the load should always be presented in a way that allows the driver to carry out a safe mechanical unload without unnecessary difficulty.
